A small pardon for the shortness of this review, been riddled with sinusitis and didn't get to appreciate the beer at its best. The first of my beers from my final haul of 2016, Lemon and Ginger from @hdbrewery located in Reedham in the heart of the picturesque Norfolk Broads. Humpty Dumpty has been producing quality real ales from fine ingredients since 1998. Lemon and ginger is a crisp pale amber ale, finished with a refreshing ginger and lemon tang. On the nose, this ale is smooth with sharp, sweet notes from the ginger bursting through. From what I could taste it was a beautiful beautiful thing but I will re-review at a later date! On thing to note is that, this real ale in a bottle is unpasteurised and contains live yeast, so be careful when pouring! #hdbrewery #alcohol #ale #alelovers #alereview #beer #beerblog #beerblogger #beerdrinker #beerlover #brickyardbeerreview #camra #craftale #craftbeer #drink #foodanddrink #foodanddrinkblog #realale #realbeer #ukbeerblogger #humptydumptybrewery #paleale

Bit of a strange review this one as its for one of my own home brewed beers, even though it is from a kit! May I introduce you to the Hoppy Copper Bitter from @lovewilko. This is the 5th beer that I've brewed and it is by far the most refined beer that I have so far, although bitter isn't to everyone's taste. In appearance, the beer is a light copper almost amber in colour with a light, bubbly white head. A rather effervescent beer to start with, H.C.B seems to calm down after leaving it to settle, losing both its head and its extreme carbonation. On the nose, H.C.B is really malty with notes of caramel and fresh bread, most likely from the yeast. Upon first taste, the beer had a good level of bitterness that is complimented by a traditional sweetness found in bitters of old. The beer is very light in mouthfeel and seems to go down very easily. With interesting notes of hazelnut, coriander and an almost acidic citrus flavour too, H.C.B is a bitter like none you'll find from your local casks. The beer and the kit themselves are both very enjoyable, probably due to me making the beer myself! To those of you that are yet to try brewing your own beer, I would strongly recommend it as I feel it will give you a greater understanding of beer and to an extent the brewing process. I would also recommend getting a box kit instead of a bag or single tin as I seem to have got much better results from them. #beer #beerdrinker #beerreview #ale #realale #craftbeer #craftale #ukale #brickyardbeerreview #alcohol #realbeer #realale #camra #campaignforrealale #beerstagram #beersofinstgram #drinklocal #enjoybeer #cambsbeer #beerchat #nowdrinking #dohomebrew #alereview #beerlover #alelover #beerloveruk #bitter #homebrew #diybeer #homebrewuk

Been a long day, so what better to help than beer! Today's beer of choice is yet another from @aldiuk, but this time in the form of the Red Rye IPA by @twickenhamfineales Red Rye IPA is a deep auburn colour with a fine white bubbly head. A perfectly still beer, Red Rye IPA loses a bit of its head the further down the beer you go, but it seems to become much more intense and flavoursome the more you drink. On the nose, Red Rye IPA initially has notes of pine sap and citrus fruits such as grapefruit. Upon first taste, the beer is dense and has a full-bodied mouthfeel that costs the mouth beautifully with hints of passion fruit and a sweetness reminiscent of peaches, with a distinct bitterness from the hops. As well as all that Red Rye IPA has a distinctive spiciness from the rye used. @twickenhamfineales have exceeded my initial expectations of Red Rye IPA, by creating a well refined and beautifully crafted ale with very little to complain about. I would strongly recommend that anyone in the uk that is a lover of interesting and different IPA's go to @aldiuk and try it for themselves. #beer #beerdrinker #beerreview #ale #realale #craftbeer #craftale #ukale #brickyardbeerreview #alcohol #realbeer #realale #camra #campaignforrealale #beerstagram #beersofinstgram #drinklocal #enjoybeer #cambsbeer #beerchat #nowdrinking #dohomebrew #alereview #beerlover #alelover #beerloveruk #ipa #ryebeer #redryeipa

Another day, another beer! Today's beer of choice is another from @aldiuk, but this time in the form of the Spill the Beans coffee porter by #brains Brewed in Cardiff, Wales, Spill the Beans is a well refined porter that is brewed with the finest coffee beans. Spill the Beans is a deep brown, black coffee colour with a light, creamy Ivory head. A perfectly still beer, Spill the Beans loses a bit of its head the further down the beer you go, but it seems to become much more dense and flavoursome the more you drink. On the nose, Spill the Beans initially has notes of roasted malty chocolate, followed up by notes of caramel, liquorice, raisins with a hint of cocoa. Upon first taste, the beer is smooth and sweet with a distinct bitterness from the coffee, giving it a prominently rich flavour, with notes of dark chocolate, figs, raisins and sweet malt. Spill the Beans is one of the nicest porters I've tried in a long while and definitely has to be one of the best coffee beers I've tried so far. I would strongly recommend that anyone in the uk that is a lover of porters and coffee beers go to @aldiuk and try it for themselves. #beer #beerdrinker #beerreview #ale #realale #craftbeer #craftale #ukale #brickyardbeerreview #alcohol #realbeer #realale #camra #campaignforrealale #beerstagram #beersofinstgram #drinklocal #enjoybeer #cambsbeer #beerchat #nowdrinking #dohomebrew #alereview #beerlover #alelover #beerloveruk #porter #darkale #coffeebeer #coffeeporter

A truly all American beer, I give you Land of Liberty by @sadlers_ales on behalf of @aldiuk. Brewed in Stourbridge, UK, Land of Liberty is a perfectly crafted American style Pale Ale. A golden straw in colour with a light, creamy white head. A rather effervescent beer, Land of Liberty doesn't seem to lose either head nor carbonation the further down the beer you go. On the nose, Land of Liberty has notes of citrus, such as lime and grapefruit, along with a sweet yeasty, maltiness to it. Upon first taste, the beer is smooth and sweet with a distinct tanginess from the hops, giving it a prominent citrus flavour, similar to that of lime and grapefruit. Land of Liberty is one of the nicest APA's Ives tried in a long while and has boldly asserted itself as a high-calibre APA. I would strongly recommend that anyone in the uk that is a lover of IPA's and APA's go to @aldiuk and try it for themselves. #beer #beerdrinker #beerreview #ale #realale #realale #craftbeer #craftale #ukale #brickyardbeerreview #alcohol #realbeer #realale #camra #campaignforrealale #beerstagram #beersofinstgram #drinklocal #enjoybeer #cambsbeer #beerchat #nowdrinking #dohomebrew #alereview #beerlover #alelover #beerloveruk #ipa #apa #paleale

Naturally cloudy, and boasting rich and smooth flavours, I introduce Leffe Triple (8.5%). As the name suggests, Leffe Triple is a triple fermented beer with strong and sophisticated characteristics, typically found in Belgian abbey beers. In its appearance, the beer is a strawberry blonde colour with a dense white head. Well carbonated to beginning with, the beer becomes foster and more intense the further down the beer you go. Upon first taste, Leffe Triple is light in body, going down very smoothly. The more you drink of this beer, the more it reveals a rich taste with elaborate and spicy aromas, with notes of cloves and honey, complimented by subtle blends of coriander and orange. A truly fine beer brewed from natural ingredients, definitely a refreshing session ale that would be perfect for any hot summers day! I can't wait to see what more they have to offer! The balance between bitter and sweet flavours is absolutely magnificent and something that I love in Belgian beer and more specifically in abbey beer. To obtain a more pronounced flavour in this beer, pour some of the yeast from the bottom of the bottle into the glass to create a more complex and interesting flavour. #beer #beerdrinker #beerreview #ale #realale #realale #craftbeer #craftale #ukale #brickyardbeerreview #alcohol #realbeer #realale #camra #campaignforrealale #beerstagram #beersofinstgram #drinklocal #enjoybeer #cambsbeer #beerchat #nowdrinking #dohomebrew #alereview #beerlover #alelover #beerloveruk #belgianbeer #belgianale #leffe

The first ever #thirstythursday goes to... @hogsbackbrewery's Sunny Dayz (3.8%). Found this beer the other week whilst shopping in @aldiuk along with 4 other interesting brews (reviews coming soon). As can be seen, Sunny Dayz is a pale golden ale with a rather light head. Using cascade, centennial and local Surrey hops, as well as using pale ale and Munich malt, this beer is hoppy with strong citrus and beautifully hoppy and perfumed floral notes on the nose. Upon first taste, Sunny Dayz is light in body, with well balanced hoppy and predominantly mandarin citrus flavour, this ale has a fine carbonation to it, perfect for this kind of ale with a light and mellow aftertaste. A truly fine beer brewed from natural ingredients, definitely a refreshing session ale that would be perfect for any hot summers day! I can't wait to see what more they have to offer! #beer #beerdrinker #beerreview #ale #realale #realale #craftbeer #craftale #ukale #brickyardbeerreview #alcohol #realbeer #realale #camra #campaignforrealale #beerstagram #beersofinstgram #drinklocal #enjoybeer #cambsbeer #beerchat #nowdrinking #dohomebrew #alereview #beerlover #alelover #beerloveruk

A truly British beer, I introduce you to Old Peculier by Theakstons. Noted as one of the world’s great beers with it's smooth, strong and mellow flavour, Old Peculier is nothing short of a beautifully crafted and well thought about beer. Made in Masham, home of not only Theakstons but @blacksheepbrewery also, Old Peculiar is dark and rich ruby coloured beer with very traditional characteristics. Brewed using Fuggle hops, Old Peculier has a distinctive banana and blackcherry aroma to it, with a complimentary taste of banana, chocolate and toffee with a tannic bitterness similar to that found in red wine. To be honest, it's not really a beer that has ever been on my beer list but it seems to have surpassed my expectations by a country mile and a beer that shall now be in my session list! I will certainly by visiting Masham in the near future. #beer #beerdrinker #beerreview #ale #realale #realale #craftbeer #craftale #ukale #brickyardbeerreview #alcohol #realbeer #realale #camra #campaignforrealale #beerstagram #beersofinstgram #drinklocal #enjoybeer #cambsbeer #beerchat #nowdrinking #dohomebrew #alereview #beerlover #alelover #beerloveruk #masham

My final beer from my Mallorcan adventure is the rather stylish looking Sullerica cerveza de blat cru mallorquí (raw Mallorcan wheat beer) weighing in with an alcoholic volume of 3.7%. A top-fermented beer , brewed from quality ingredients such as Mallorcan wheat, water and lemon peel, Sullerica cerveza de blat cru mallorquí is a smooth and refreshing unfiltered beer from Mallorca. Made in Sóller this beer is, much like sullerica original, outstanding proof that the spanish and especially the Mallorcans can make fantastic beer! Once settled in the glass, the beer looks as though it is a very traditional wheat beer, with is almost pastelly gold colour and its slight but very white foam. As the name states, the beer is rich with traditional wheat beers flavours such as distinct notes of the wheat, yeast and malt but has a rather interesting subtlety of lemon to it; almost as though the glass has been spiked with lemon. The beer has a soft aroma to it, with slight hints of honey and lemon. As well as being rich in these lemon flavours, sullerica has a rich and sharp not to it common with white wine! For me this beer has given me a taste and a very high expectation for what Spain and the Balearic Islands have to offer in terms of truly notable ales. #spanishbeer #balearicbeer #mallorcanbeer #beersofsóller #sullerica #sullericaoriginal #cervesa #craftbeer #beer #ale #alcohol #beerstagram #beersofinstagram #goodbeer #beerdrinker #beerreview #craftbeer #craftale #ukale #brickyardbeerreview #realbeer #realale #camra #campaignforrealale #drinklocal #enjoybeer #beerchat #nowdrinking #alereview #beerlover (at Peterborough, United Kingdom)

Hello there Mr. President! Talk about kicking down the door of convention! First off I'd like to say well done to @brewdogofficial creating such a wonderful beer. The first time I tried a beer from brewdog was in 2011; the beer in question being Punk IPA. At the time this beer wasn't really for me and put me off buying another brewdog beer, needless to say Mr. President has changed my perception on brewdog forever. Now onto the beer. Mr. President is a double IPA with an alcoholic volume of 9.2%, well all the best things come in small packages I guess! Even from the design of the bottle and label, this beer had me impressed. @brewdogofficial have eloquently taken every detail into consideration even down to the embossing on the label! On first inspection, this beer packs a punch with notes of caramel on the notes and almost ruby colour on the eye. Due to its percentage, Mr. President sticks to the glass as its moved about. Upon taste, well wow! What can be said?? On first taste this beer left me truly speechless, with is rich fruity flavours such as apricot and mango blasting the tastebuds and a woody, burnt toffee after taste, Mr. President is a truly magnificent beer that you keep wanting more of. A beautiful beer that can definitely stand by itself, Mr. President is hoppy beer with bold and bitter fruit flavours that I would enjoy as a relaxed session beer. This beer has my vote! #beer #beerdrinker #beerreview #ale #realale #realale #craftbeer #craftale #ukale #brickyardbeerreview #alcohol #realbeer #realale #camra #campaignforrealale #beerstagram #beersofinstgram #drinklocal #enjoybeer #cambsbeer #beerchat #nowdrinking #dohomebrew #alereview #beerlover #alelover #beerloveruk #ipa #doubleipa
