Does anyone recognize this artifact? Pictured is our baby cradle with its adorable 1924 Brinton occupant! Nearly 100 years after this photo was taken, the cradle was generously donated by descendants to the 1704 House. Family heirlooms like these, and the documentation that goes along with them, help us build bridges to a past that is often more similar to our present than we might think - how many of us remember helping care for, or being cared for by, our siblings? . . . #familyhistory #oldphotograph #brinton #brinton1704house #westchesterpa #localhistory #historichomes #siblings (at William Brinton 1704 House) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cgr3HP_u-cO/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

21st century meets 18th! McLaren stopped by this afternoon - definitely not the type of vehicle you’d expect to see in the Brinton carriage house, but very cool nonetheless! . #brinton #brinton1704house #westchesterpa #museumfromhome #mclaren #oldmeetsnew https://www.instagram.com/p/CMYFjpQjxmR/?igshid=fvvbv3eyhd7t

Spring has sprung! This year’s first flowers, sheltered against one of the 1704 House walls, have appeared. We look for these hardy little bulbs each year to indicate when winter is starting to retreat – can you name the plant? . . https://www.jigsawplanet.com/?rc=play&pid=21e5d6d00ff1 . . #brinton #brinton1704house #westchesterpa #localhistory #museumfromhome #stayhomestaysafe #bulbs #flowers #spring #springiscoming https://www.instagram.com/p/CMGNPQQjIB1/?igshid=xn7iojvhl1gc

Looking forward to better days! The 1704 House now has a new set of chairs for use in the future when we can hold in-person special events again – and they even have comfy cushions! Thank you to Barbie Clough, Chris Lang, and other volunteers who helped move them into storage at the museum. In anticipation of a probable snow day tomorrow, this week’s puzzle is a throwback to the March 2019 snowstorm on the evening of our Charter Day cocktail event. Be safe in the winter weather, Brinton fans – this puzzle pairs well with a fuzzy blanket and hot chocolate while staying cozy indoors. . https://www.jigsawplanet.com/?rc=play&pid=15461316e0cd . #letitsnow #snow #1704house #brinton #winter #museumfromhome #stayhomestaysafe #westchesterpa #localhistory https://www.instagram.com/p/CKewjeGjTWu/?igshid=qpfnqn59hadi

Hello Brinton fans, We hope you had a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving, despite the unusual challenges 2020 has us all facing right now. Today is Giving Tuesday, a day for supporting the non-profits closest to your hearts. We wanted to reach out and ask that you consider supporting the Brinton 1704 House with your charitable donation this year. Like many small non-profits, we’ve spent a lot of time this year trying to figure out how to adjust to changing circumstances while doing our best to continue serving our community. We’ve so enjoyed solving puzzles with you, helping you work on family genealogy projects, and sharing recipes, family stories, and biographies with all of you this year, and are very much looking forward to continuing and improving our virtual programming into 2021 (keep an eye out for our upcoming December event!). The 1704 House owes its existence to the ties of family, friendship, and home. For everyone, those fundamentals have taken on new formats in our new circumstances, but we are, as always, grateful for your continuing friendship. If you are able to make a donation to the 1704 House this year, please follow this link: https://www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=YZC7R2V8Y5MKN Thank you again for your support and generosity. https://www.instagram.com/p/CIRnD3Wjj-g/?igshid=hgheydfqa7fg
