Crazy that Supernatural had the Devil in their show and he was shown as soft spoken and sad and lonely. He does horrible things and says he has to do this. He talks to a younger brother and tries to get him to join him, tries to get his brother to understand. He wants to be understood.

He hates humanity but there’s one human made for him- and he made for that human- that he promised to be good to. He promised to never lie or trick or hurt that human. He wants that human to be happy, be family with him. Every Angel in the show is dismissive or abusive with their vessel, even the Good Guy Angel (at first), but the devil looks into the mirror to try to talk to his vessel, his human. He tries to get him to understand. He gifts him people who betrayed his human, so they can get revenge together.

The devil has to start the apocalypse, but when the time comes to end the world, he hesitates, he asks his older brother, who he has to fight, he has to kill, what if. What if they don’t. What if they don’t fight, they stop, they don’t do this. It wasn’t his fault what happened, because God made him do it, but what if they just leave this behind?

And the Angel says no, and so the devil sighs sadly. He doesn’t want this life. He wishes it could be different. He wishes all this didnt have to happen. But it does.

Really interesting, really compelling.

And then they do. That. To his character for the rest of the show.

never ever forgetting how supernatural s12 was like teehee we the sophisticated BMOL vaporize every immigrant t*rrorist monster after it crosses the border into our glorious white land and this is why we are better than you bumbling oaf americans. and then the moral of the story wasn’t that the brits were evil for their wanton slaughter and weapons of death etc but simply that the americans were obviously better than them at Cleaning The Country because uh………..salt of the earth , and burgers. etc. bootstraps!
