buzzo actually grew up in a pretty big family. he was the second to youngest out of his six siblings. he often felt overshadowed and ignored even though he himself was just as talented as the rest of them. this led him to seek validation from outside sources.

Gyro... What if there was only one 'strain of weed' left during the end of the 'world' Except that one 'strain of weed'... It's called 'If you smoke this you're racist'. The weed, that is... Would you 'smoke' it?

thinkin about how austin jorgensen showed us a world of violence, of constant pain and suffering on a massive scale, suffering that affected absolutely everyone and caused untold damage to the psyche of what remained of the human race as a whole… and it all started with the trauma of one little girl. like he really owns my entire ass for that

I think the reason Brad doesn't think much about his mother in the game is that her death was probably not as traumatic as Marty's abuse and Lisa's suicide.
I also think that he used to have a lot more memories of her when he was a kid. As he got older and grew more addicted to painkillers and later joy, he gradually lost them.

Hi there! Thank you so much! :D Usually when I go about simplifying expressions, I like to start from drawing simple dot eyes and line based expressions before I make the expression more complex. This way I can figure out the base emotion of the expression, and then build upon it when I clean up the thumbnail drawing. In addition, keeping facial features simple will allow for the expression to read more clearly, as well as experimenting with line weight, such as making the pupil darker, and the eyelash a thicker line than the rest of the eye. I highly recommend doing expression studies, where you pause videos and draw different actors’ expressions, and try to simplify or exaggerate the expression vs. drawing the exact expression.  I hope this helps, and thank you for the question! :D

Just adding my two cents here, but I do think that Marty's alcoholism contribued heavily to his abusive behavior. It doesn't excuse any of his behavior, obviously--but to me, addiction can explain why someone's personality would change so drastically.
Speaking from personal experience, my uncle used to be a nice guy. I remember that he was very funny and kind. But when he got addicted to drugs, he changed. He was erratic and moody when he didn't get his fix, he started committing crimes--he stole my grandpa's car for one--and he threatened to kill my mom. Now he's in jail for holding his girlfriend and my cousin hostage and possession of cocaine. My grandma tells me that he's changed since then, and I don't doubt it, but I also think that he's entitled to no one's forgiveness.
I view Marty in a similar light, I guess. Addiction can really change people sometimes. It's never an excuse for doing horrible things, especially in Marty's case--abusing his children. He doesn't deserve anyone's forgiveness, least of all Brad and Lisa's.
I also don't think that tying it all to one event is equilavent to not holding Marty accountable for his actions. I do think that Marty always had it in him to be an abusive asshole--one of the biggest themes in Lisa is how abuse is cyclical--but I think what triggered it was the death of his wife and his sprial into alcoholism. This doesn't excuse his actions, but it provides background for them. The right thing to do would have been to get counseling and try to be strong for his children. Marty didn't do those things, which to me, really highlights how awful he is as a person. Instead of getting help and trying to be a good father to his children--one of whom was probably grieving the loss as well--he decided to be selfish. What a piece of shit.
i'm pretty sure austin confirmed on twitter that mrs. armstrong is dead. and i think he implied at some point that her death was what led marty to becoming abusive or something. i do like to think that brad has pleasant memories of her, granted not really clear ones. maybe he has vague memories of her voice. lisa i think was very attached to the idea of her mother
I take everything Austin says with a grain of salt anyway, but about Marty - I dont think that kind of abusive personality just shows up spontaneously the moment something goes wrong, trying to tie it to a specific event instead of holding the person accountable doesn't figure to me
when someone has the total lack of moral consciousness to do something so profoundly vile that person cant be excused, everyone has the responsibility to be aware of themselves, the way men in our society often aren't and aren't expected to be
on the surface level Marty might have seemed like an acceptable person but it's not grief alone that drives someone to become like that. deep down Marty is still a wretched individual even on his "good" days.
Austin has never experienced that sort of abuse himself and has no insight into the behaviours and personality of an abuser and it's plain to see from his whole treatment of Marty in the Painful, in thinking there's any aspect of him worthy of sympathy that his opinions on the subject mean less than nothing to me. its the shock value gdi.
Lisa being attached to the thought of her mother makes sense. I guess it also would've been one of the few people, like Brad, who could've possibly helped her escape that situation...
I dont know, you don't obviously have to have the same thoughts or opinions of me at all. but seeing as Brad never really spares a thought for her I can't help but feel she was distant and not very present, that more of his comfort comes from his friends and his sister
