“I think I prefer you getting the look from people as if you were insane.” Skylar chuckled as she kept her gaze on the hunter. Crossing her arms over her chest, the witch couldn’t help but chuckle again. “Oh yes, Cain, I was listening to Hannah Montana--how did you know?” She jokes.

“I said do you know who this blasted Siri is? I’m told by the shopkeeper that if I have any more questions to simply ask Siri, because there wasn’t much more he could do for me, but thus far I have yet to find such a person?”

Finn pulled out a tangle of wires from his tuxedo pocket, to reveal the slick apple product.

Biting her bottom lip, Skylar did her best not to laugh at the man. “Siri? It is the name of virtual assistant in the device you are holding.” Getting up from her seat, Skylar motions to hold the apple product. “May I?”

The witch got taken back by the sudden harsh words coming from the woman’s mouth. “This is a public place, that is why I am here.” She states to her. Skylar was beginning to get a weird vibe off from her. “Is that such a crime? Because last time I checked--it wasn’t.”

“I’m sorry, what did you say?” the woman asked politely. Skylar had been in her own little world as she sat at the Grill with her headphones in. The witch would completely understand why the person before her didn’t notice she was listening to music due to her hair hiding the earbuds. Closing her laptop, Skylar gave her full attention to them.

Kyle had walked the streets of New Orleans during Mardi Gras and the streets of New York City during rush hour and hadn’t bumped into as many people in either places as he had in the few days he had been in Mystic Falls. In every sense of the phrase. His shoulder collided with that of another, his head turning so that he was face to face with the klutz — none other than Skylar Kingsman, his sister. Fuck. The bearded man stood there, frozen in place. He couldn’t take his eyes off of her, couldn’t move, and couldn’t find the courage to speak. Thankfully, it was her that broken the excruciating silence between them. Uncomfortably, he shifted in place and dug his hands in his pockets. “Uh, hey sis.” Kyle had dreamt about this moment for eight years and this was not how he ever imagined it. Even in his wildest fantasies, he never imagined he would be this flustered. “Miss me?” He couldn’t look her in the eyes, not after all the hurt he was sure he caused. Still, seeing her after such a long time — it was like a dream. “You look good, Sky.”

‘Miss me?’

Hearing those words made her blood boil. All the anger she kept locked up from his sudden leave were beginning to come to the surface as Skylar stood before him. “Missed you?” Her heart beginning to beat faster. “What kind of stupid question is that, you asshole.” Clenching her fists, Skylar did her best to try to remain calm because if she didn’t, the magic she has tried to bury will show itself. The memories of her parents crying over their son were coming to mind, the hurt she felt all those years ago came back to punch her in the gut. The witch can still remember the sobs of her parents when the police told them Kyle doesn’t want to be found. Or even the harsh words their mother said in fearing he could be dead. 

Before Skylar could register what was happening, the woman pulled her arm back to only have her fist collide with Kyle’s cheek. “That’s for our parents.” She spat at him. All the rage that had built up has finally shown itself and as it did, Skylar began to feel herself shake a bit. Though the stubborn witch stood there tall and strong.

Walking out of the Grill, Skylar made her way across the main part of town. She was still amazed at how normal everyone tried to be for the humans here despite most of the residents being not human. Biting her bottom lip, Skylar began to feel thankful of not knowing about this whole new world when she enlisted years ago. The hacker knew she would become paranoid around people and question if they really were human. “Oh, I am sorry.” she quickly apologized to the man whose shoulder she ran into. Seeing the stranger’s face, Skylar felt as if someone poured a bucket of ice cold water on her face. Swallowing tightly, the woman found the courage to say something despite feeling a heavy loud now on her lungs. “K-..Kyle?” Part of Skylar wanted this to be some cruel joke, that there is someone walking around that looks like her brother. The other part? It wanted to scream at him for leaving.
