I think since the game packs are years apart from each other, the cache files get all gummed up

Sims 4 troubleshooting JULY 2025

My Sims game was crashing on console. I have an overload of sims but refuse to delete any. I did the following in this order, I don’t know if it actually affects anything in this order but you can follow it this way if you want.

🟨Turned off internet access via PlayStation - Settings/Network/Connect to Network

🟩In Game Options/Other, turned off everything except Trail Animation, then applied changes.

🟦 Cleared Ps4 cache by turning off and unplugging from console, not from outlet, waiting 30 seconds, then plugging back in.

🟪Turned game back on and deleted stuff off library I didn’t need anymore

🟥Went to game save file by way of PS4/Settings/Storage/System Storage/Saved Data/ then deleted my sims 4 autosave file. Nothing else, just autosave. I figured autosave might have been corrupt.

🟧Went back to the game and saved my current game but with on new slot rather. Then deleted the old save.

So far no crashes. Date is all messed up. game looks as crappy as ever since I have so much junk lol. But hey, crashes are far more annoying!

Tried to respond to someone on EA but the website won’t let me authenticate my account at this time, so i post here on tumblr for anyone looking for some kind of solution to try.

I think sometimes the save files have trouble dealing with dates and get unstable over time, even on a PS4, so they need a cache smash; PlayStation unplugging, autosave delete and saving main game on a new save slot. I say this because it’s good to converse about what might be the problem rather than blindly follow instructions and wonder why they do or don’t work. Maybe a sims developer or PlayStation maintenance tech will come across this and have a eureka moment! Who knows!

Update August 25th 2025

Had all these problems happen again. Build a house and it crashed, losing my progress. I was not about to run into the wall again. Followed my old steps here, then was sure to save in LIVE MODE, after building. See when you build, your game has a temporary memory so you can undo what you’ve done to your house (undo your deletion of a wall, redo that roof you put together, etc) but when you enter live mode, it drops all that, contributing less to memory when you save

I really think we should stop saying "kid-friendly" and start saying "ad-friendly". We shouldn't indulge these companies and their excuses anymore. I also think that continuing to pretend that this is about "protecting the children" pushes a lot of the blame onto kids and teens, who don't have the political power to push through any of this censorship legislature. Corporations and governments are to blame.
