ive been putting it off for literal years but i finally made a g0fundm3 for my top surgery 😔 💕

this surgery would be literally life saving for me. my dysphoria and depression have gotten so bad that even leaving my house or looking in the mirror or taking care of myself is an extreme challenge. im looking to get a double mastectomy (no nipple grafts) and this is about what itll cost me. i have a part time job right now but its only $13/hr and as short as my hours are right now, they just got cut. anything helps at all i cant thank you guys enough for the friendship and support you’ve always given me. all my money has to go to my phone & prescription bills, groceries, etc and my dysphoria really challenges my mental health every day. thank you guys so much 🥺💖

This is a callout for Mortuary Descent and tumblr user valley-of-sacrifice

Mateo, AKA ‘Necrobalmer’, vocalist of San Antonio-based death metal band Mortuary Descent, has been outed as a rapist. Over a period of three years, he sexually assaulted his ex (Jade) in her sleep, forcing himself on her without her consent.

Note the abuser’s use of emotional blackmail and deflection/projection, blaming her for being mad at him for assaulting her. He has also:

-Roped his mum in to call his survivor’s mum to pressure them into keeping quiet

-Threatened to call the police on her.

-Issuing a statement on twitter calling her a false accuser, only to later delete his account when the backlash became too much.

Which brings us to part two of this shitstorm. MD released their Skeletonization demo through Life After Death Records. Multiple people informed Eric about the news and all were met with various levels of skepticism and victim-blaming. After the above proof was forwarded to him, he proceeded to attack Jade as being abusive:

Eric still has not removed the links to the band’s merch on his website as of 1am May 27th New York time, a whole 3 days after the incident went public, although everything except some t-shirts have been marked as sold out.

I feel sick to my stomach with all this news that’s out, but I’m beyond tired of seeing sex pests and their support networks get away with it. There is no place for them in metal or in any community for that matter.

sometimes you say or do bad things while you’re in an awful mental place. sometimes you say things that are rude or uncalled for or manipulative. and i’m not going to hold that against you. mental illness is hard, and no one is perfect. but once you’re through that episode, you need to take steps to make amends. you need to apologize.

“i couldn’t help it, i was having a bad episode” is a justification, not an apology.

“i’m so fucking sorry, i fucked up, i don’t deserve to live, i should stop talking to anyone ever, i should die” is a second breakdown and a guilt trip. it is not an apology.

when you apologize, the focus should be on the person you hurt. “i’m sorry. i did something that was hurtful to you. even if i was having a rough time, you didn’t deserve to hear that,” is a better apology. if it was a small thing, you can leave it at that.

if you caused significant distress to the other person, this is a good time to talk about how you can minimize damage in the future. and again, even if it is tempting to say you should self-isolate and/or die, that is not a helpful suggestion. it will result in the person you’re talking to trying to talk you out of doing that, which makes your guilt the focus of the conversation instead of their hurt.

you deserve friendship, and you deserve support. but a supportive friend is not an emotional punching bag, and mental illness does not absolve you of responsibility for your actions. what you say during a mental breakdown doesn’t define you. how you deal with the aftermath though, says a lot.
