Went back to the very first pattern I ever did and cloth stitched with 6 different coloured threads

This is the same piece of lace on different backgrounds
I'm in pursuit of consistency, so may try this again next.

This is just a pattern of half stitch, then some full stitches and twists at the end to make that edge, but it was so hard!
I think I got too caught up in the zig zags I was supposed to see... I don't know.
Not awful, but not perfect

So

I dropped it
Twice
I had to undo it all the way back like 4 times too
And then, after the second time I dropped it and straightened the threads back out, suddenly the lines were straight and not diagonal
Fail!
But every piece is more practise!

Shawl of black bobbin lace: Chantilly lace. On a lattice ground in the middle a rosette, around it a square entwined with bands of flowers and leaves and a rectangle with the same ornament on a larger scale. Between the square and the rectangle garlands and large linked floral motifs. Scalloped edge with palmettes, circa c. 1860 - c. 1874 .

when i look up a knitting term, the last thing I want is an ai overview. I want a 60+ year old woman with no understanding of lighting or helpful camera angles who still manages to give the most concise and clear explanation of how to execute purl 2tog through the backloop. ai summary fuck off, where is phyllis?

I also hate how migraines fuck with your coordination
Unrelated, I just dropped the bobbining I'd been doing after having to unravel and start over for the 5th time, so I'm not happy.

Spiders hate me, you did SUCH a good job, look at them!

Sssspiders! Look at them crawling around with their many little legs.

I keep all my lace pieces in a book, sorted by pattern and then in chronological order
I organised it recently and realised that I'd only done a few patterns once, so I want to go back and do those a few more times.
My work isn't perfect, but I can see it getting better, so I thought I'd jeep practicing before tackling something larger
That said, I probably shouldn't bobbin while I watch Criminal Minds, it went awry towards the end

☝AWRY!

Hi! I noticed in your flanders hearts piece the pattern looks distinctly blue. I've seen some people use a thin blue plastic sheet on top of the pattern, is this what you have? I was wondering, what is the purpose of it? :)
Hi,! yes, it is sticky back blue plastic film. I use this to cover my patterns to make it more easy to reuse. It is super common in the UK.
I photocopy the pattern, stick it to a random bit of cardboard (cereal box) and then cover in blue film. It is much easier and quicker than tracing onto pricking card but still hard-wearing.
Blue is the most common film colour because it is easy on the eyes and also provides contrast against white thread.

Oooh!

First piece of Idrija lace! I absolutely loooooved the process of making this. Something about it was so satisfying. And it was such a change in pace from the Honiton I've been doing 😆😆 a few things to work on, but very happy with it for a first try!

Oh, that's lovely, the white and the blue? Chefs kiss.

We got new string for easter, our mother managed to find some on discount at the Joann's before it ran out of mostly everything, so you know what that means, pattern I've never done before time

Gorgeous!

First post. I got fed up with playing magic the gathering online to cope with my stress. Bobbin lace will be my new addiction.
I started bobbin two weeks ago. This is the best thing I made so far. Very proud.
