The last two weekends for Lando have been rough you knew it the team knew hell even the media knew it.

The weekend leading up to the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix you were nervous the days after you returned from Bahrain you saw him slowly slipping back into old habits playing video games till early hours of the morning doom scrolling through hate comments even liking some and the worst part of it all you couldn’t protect him from any of it

Getting on board the jet for Saudi was eerily quiet too quiet, as soon as you got in your seat Lando immediately put his headphones on hoodie up and head in your lap as the hours past with both of you dozing eventually you broke the silence. “ baby” you whispered quietly” you know you’re so much more than what people say about you online” he turned slightly eyes finally opened glassy and red rimmed “ he huffed a breath and finally responded “ i know but i can’t help but think maybe they’re right “ he looked up at y/n with a pout she looked at him slowly processing what to say before she said “ you’ll show them i have a feeling this weekend she whispered kissing his forehead before finally landing

He did show them fp1 and fp2 had went great Lando and Oscar were 1-2 on the board and watching interviews from the garage you could see his shoulders relax and a genuine happiness in his voice you hadn’t heard in two weeks “ i feel very comfortable and confident in the car this weekend” he said smiling ear to ear. As he returned to the motor home he found you in his drivers room you immediately stood up and gave him the biggest hug “ see I told you you’re showing them “

He smiled “ yeah but we still have quali not out of the woods yet babe”

As quali started y/n was a ball of nerves bouncing on the balls of her feet in the garage eyes locked on the tv

As q3 started she heard Will say on radio “ ok Lando last round let’s give it all you got mate” “copy “ Lando responded and give it all is what he did so much so that he tapped the wall and skipped down the track before coming to a hard stop

y/n couldn’t believe it he was so confident all weekend and now this before anything else she heard will say “ Lando you ok”? It took him a minute but he did respond relief flooded through her until she heard him say “fucking idiot “ to himself on radio tears welled in her eyes she wanted nothing more than to give him the biggest hug and keep him away from the media but she would have to wait till he returned from medical and sadly media

After he was cleared with just some bruising from his belts and some interviews which y/n cringed watching every time he talked down on himself he came back to the garage ignoring everyone heading straight for the person he needed most y/n

As soon as he saw her he latched onto her “oh baby “ she whispered after she heard the quiet sobbing she held him for a while rubbing his back reminding him to breathe since he was on the edge of a panic attack and whispering sweet words in his ear until he finally spoke “ I feel like I’ve never driven an f1 car before “ he said brokenly “ I don’t know what’s wrong with me lately “ upon hearing that she spoke grabbing his face his forehead against hers “ nothing is wrong with you baby you’re just adjusting this is just a phase they’re fixing it don’t listen to what the media or fans say you’re amazing Lando please don’t forget that i love you podium or not I’m here for you always.”

Hell On Earth AKA Assessment Day (LN)

Today was lando’s least favorite day of the entire year

ASSESSMENT DAY although this year he had you as his emotional support girlfriend for today you still were not looking forward to seeing him struggle

Admittedly you were late to the first half of the assessment telling him you needed to get some work done at home first but (mostly because you wanted to put off seeing him struggle as long as you could).

When you arrived you quietly slipped in the door unnoticed standing in the corner observing quietly gaging the atmosphere that’s when you saw him currently doing the Vo2 max test you could see he was struggling his face was beat red his black shirt was soaked from exertion and his eyes looked glossy. After 10 minutes he finally was done and when the treadmill finally slowed you caught his eyes.

As fast as his legs would carry him he made his way to you but this hug was different all his body weight you could tell was on your if you let go he would fall. “Hey” you whispered quietly and rubbed his back all you got in response was a whine his breathing was labored and suddenly there was silent sobbing his shoulders shaking.

Jon from behind you watching closely sent a worried glance but you gave him the I got it look so he backed off. You brought Lando to a quiet corner to get him away from prying eyes and when he finally met your gaze your heart broke “I’m so tired y/n “ he whispered “I can’t do anymore everything hurts “

This was his breaking point his body was tired pushed beyond its normal limit and all you could do was hold him and encourage him even if it went in one ear and out the other. “Babe look at me” y/n said lowly grabbing his face with both hands “ breathe in through your nose out through your mouth you could tell he was genuinely exhausted by the barley had enough energy to hold his head up you grabbed his hand rubbing circles around it like you always do to get him to calm down. Over the next few minutes you sat aimlessly rubbing his back and whispering soothing words

“you can do it your almost done just one more assessment left and then we can go home and cuddle and I’ll even let you be little spoon if you’re lucky “ that brought a slight smile out of him and he slowly got up

“ what would i do without you my emotional support girlfriend “ as he walked away from the corner you sent Jon a wink and thanked god he only had to do this once a year
