it's so clear that aesthetics is gender in queer spaces. and what's more, it's aesthetics that are loud, gaudy, flashy, seemingly un-conservative. A man wearing a suit is not performing gender, in their minds. that's the status quo and therefore can't be gender. If the suit is loud and colorful, maybe pink, then maybe it's performing gender. but a boring man, in a boring suit - that's not performing gender to them. that's performing status quo, and gender is the opposite of status quo. that's why they can't grasp critiques on gender, they're hearing "men must wear boring suits, women must wear boring dresses" and in their mind they're picturing the most conservative, puritan looking people imaginable. drab.

ive been in construction for years. I adore it. Im pretty good at it. And i make good money doing it. for years, tho, ive been in positions that didnt have me interacting with the public. I would interact with the people teaching me, coworkers, etc, but all men. It didnt do much for my sex dysmorphia, and often made it worse since the men teaching me would show me a way of doing things that was impossible for my body, and I would have to figure out on my own how to modify the techniques to a way that worked and produced the same result. I literally had to work twice as hard for the same things men could just do. Not to mention the bosses/teachers who felt that end result was less important than technique and would berate me for doing it any way other than how they showed me or assumed if I couldnt do it their way then I couldnt do it at all.
but now that I 1) have a boss/teacher who understands that my body is just different, not worse, and that I’ll have to modify some techniques to get the same result and also 2) work with the public much more, tons and tons of women are coming up to me and my boss telling the both of us how much they adore me. How much they adore a woman working in this field. How much they prefer a woman showing up to work on their houses while theyre there alone. and it makes me feel like “why would I want to be a man when all of these women adore the fact that I simply exist”

Omg I love when trans activists are like “you have no idea!!! What it’s like to be killed!! and murdered! and raped!! just for being the way you are cause you’re cis~!!! Transwomen are oppressed!!!!! Cis are not!!!!! cIs prIVILEGE!!!!!!!!!”
Like oh my bad. I completely forgot that women aren’t raped and murdered at such a common occurrence in every day life that it’s casually used a plot devices within media to further a male character’s development? Sorry my privilege is to be under the thumb of men so they can keep an eye on my uterus, waiting to see its worth instead of my worth as a human being. Sorry I got all that “cis” oppressive privilege gosh golly darn

It's crazy how ppl hate on Rowling, and praise Stephen King for speaking against her, when only one of them has written a child orgy in their books and it wasn't her

If I were to poll the world’s women, particularly feminist, they’d almost all answer that the men they know personally are exceptions. Especially their husbands and sons. So what exactly is the problem? Why is feminism necessary and how is misogyny being perpetuated when you’re all empowered girl bosses with one of the good ones and a son raised to respect women? Do you know a single woman who would admit to being related to, married to, or a mother to a misogynist, let alone pedophile or rapist? I don’t. Somehow they still exist in the billions though. Who is oppressing you?
