there is something so beautiful to me about a buckneddie schroedingers roommates situation where they exist as this within the context of their lives. and eddiechris have moved back in and buck put all his stuff in storage and is sleepn on the couch because it's eddie's house. kicks rocks. not his house. big sad eyes. and Eddie feels so bad for him about it and also doesn't want him to leave so much that he's just like. big sigh. buck you paid the rent for this month so it's kind of your house for at least the next three weeks. and buck is like I mean I guess. but after that........ and eddie's like okay well you can at least sleep in the bed. for three weeks. I'll take the couch. but buck feels bad about that too so they fight about it for 20 min and be passive aggressive before inevitably deciding to just share the bed. of course. and the three weeks are going on and buck keeps going to his storage unit to get random things that he needs and bringing all his kitchen stuff back into the house and Eddie starts putting his stuff in the storage unit to make room for the stuff buck is bringing. and this whole time they're keeping up this facade of buck moving out in three weeks. but then buck pays the rent for June out of habit or maybe it's on autopay a la a reversal of hugh's accidental sugar daddy fic :))) and Eddie is like well I guess that means you have to stay. for June. since you paid the rent again and this is technically still your house. for June. and throughout all of this they are sharing a bed and furiously jerking off in the shower separately and being so normal about it. until one morning after a night out they wake up hungover and sweatysticky and mouths tasting like gin+beer and naked except Eddie is still wearing a shirt and buck has one sock on. and they roll over and look at each other with both their hair all fucked up and a pillow line down buck's cheek and buck is like well. what the fuck. anyway today i'm thinking about buck apartment hunting. and how it's driving eddie crazy. how buck keeps talking about getting out of eddie and christopher's space. like he's in their way. like he's some sort of burden on them. and eventually eddie just, can't take it anymore. because it doesn't matter how many times he says, buck, we love having you here. you can stay as long as you want. you don't have to leave. buck's still being. well, buck. stuck in the belief that he doesn't really belong anywhere. so when buck tells eddie he won't be able to drive them home after their shift because he has an apartment viewing at nine, eddie's like, that's fine, bud. i can come with you. and buck's like, you really don't have to. it's across town and you'll be tired— and eddie's like, buck. let me come with you. and buck's like, o—okay. i mean, if you want. then, later. end of their shift rolls around and they're heading to buck’s truck, and eddie's like, keys? and buck's like, you wanna drive? and eddie shrugs, says, i had more coffee than you. and buck doesn’t argue, is too tired. it was a long shift. and well, he's a bit miserable. about going to see another apartment he probably won't like because it doesn't feel right. none of them feel right. so he tosses eddie the keys, reels off the address and slips into the passenger side. eddie turns the radio on low, talks. about that movie they're planning to see tonight, it's showing at 8:00. they could grab dinner first. about christopher's upcoming school faire. buck nods, mumbles something about baking cookies for him. listens to eddie's voice, quiet and comforting. lets his eyes slip closed. half dreams of eddie's kitchen. opens his eyes again ten minutes, twenty minutes, thirty minutes later. he's not sure. and—

Maddie received no pushback for telling a caller to kill themselves, Brad saying that his captain hotshots or whatever is going to live so the guy can’t kill himself, “don’t jump” being thrown around at Buck when Gerrard was captain in the beginning and the captain at the end is Gerrard (I know he’s leaving), guy who struggled with suicidal ideation ends up having to sacrifice himself after finally deciding he wants to live, Athena is building her dream home just to lose her husband and sell it, Chimney on top of the roof before the Bobby funeral only for him to appear headed for a job he’s never really seemed like he’s wanted, Hen having a whole episode about being forgotten and it being okay to take up space deciding that she’s not going to be captain actually. guys. I think the recurring theme of the season is that it’s good to give up on your dreams and maybe dying is okay actually.
