my fic for @buddieweek Day 5-Another Kid! just like last time, buddie week is a blast it and it makes me so happy seeing so many people create and write and get creative! :,)

They’re walking into the hospital together, Eddie and Buck hand in hand while Buck carries the balloons. Maddie had insisted that they didn’t bring anything, but Buck had seen the confetti colored “IT’S A GIRL” balloons at the grocery store and couldn’t resist.

“Buck.” Eddie whispers, his face coming closer to Buck’s seemingly lifeless one. The ship rocks and hurdles behind them, but all he can see is Buck. Damn be it the lasers and the killer robots, or the fucking Matrix. Right now, it’s just him and Buck. “I’m not afraid anymore.”

Buck doesn’t move. The monitor still in a long beep of a flat line, but Eddie doesn’t care. He doesn’t care what the machines say because machines are wrong.

“Carla- The Oracle told me that I would fall in love.” Eddie chuckles softly, sadly as the tears start to well, but he doesn’t let them fall, because Buck is not dead. “I would fall in love with a man, and that man would be the One.”

Written for Buddie Week: Day 1 - Recovery

He reaches out and opens the heavy door first without much strength, than upon realizing how heavy it is, with a whole lot more. It creaks open and he steps through. It shuts behind him quickly and he’s immediately trapped in darkness. The only light that he can see is at the end of the long hallway. He makes his way there now. The voices and noises that were barely there at first become increasingly louder and louder until the light is blinding, and he can see and hear everything. He doesn’t want to, and he doesn’t want the attention his entrance brings, but they’re all here for the same thing aren’t they? He shouldn’t’ be embarrassed or ashamed, or scared, and yet he is.

“Welcome. Please have a seat.” A warm voice says from the podium above the old stage. This meeting is taking place in an older building off the beaten path, but it’s not like they get much funding for events like these.

Eddie nods to him, all eyes on him as he finds a seat on the uncomfortable folding chairs littered around the place. He smells coffee and really wants to go and grab a cup, but he’s already had all of their attention on him once, he doesn’t need it again, so he goes and sits, and listens. He tries to listen is more accurate, in reality there’s waves in is ears and in his head as his knee jumps up and down nervously. He plays with his fingers and looks down into his lap, not ready to meet any of the faces here, even if they are the man in charge.

“We’d now like to open up the mic for any newcomers who wish to share.” He says and Eddie tenses. He’s not ready for this. He can’t do this. He can’t-

Hey guys!! So I’m a day behind, but here’s a small blurb for @buddieweek day 1, recovery! I can’t wait for the rest of the week!

It’s a little frightening, getting the cast removed. The doctor needs a saw to get through the thick material, assuring Buck that it’s completely safe.

It doesn’t stop Buck from grabbing Eddie’s hand once the saw starts up. 

When the cast is in half, the wrappings all gone, it feels so strange to have his leg out in the open again. The skin is incredibly dry and cracked, the cool air of the room feeling almost foreign.

The doctor excuses himself for a moment, stepping out of the room and leaving the two men alone.

Buck doesn’t mean to, but the tears start to come hard and fast. 

Eddie’s kneeling on the cot in an instant, bringing a hand up to wipe at Buck’s cheek.

“Amor what’s wrong?” 

Buck sucks in a watery breath, trying to calm himself down. “I just-I never thought I’d get here.” He looks down at his bare leg. “It’s finally off.” 

Eddie nods, continuing to cradle Buck’s face with his hand.

“It is. And this means you’re one step closer to being fully healed. The road’s still long…” He places a kiss on Buck’s forehead. “But I’ll be right here with you.” 

Buck smiles, tipping his head forward and resting it against Eddie’s. He still feels overwhelmed, the whole situation threatening to suffocate him if he’s not careful. The journey to recovery was long, is long, and wasn’t over yet.

But with Eddie by his side, he might just make it.
