my opinions on bangel vs spuffy are like. angel creates a formative trauma in buffy which spike then exploits to manipulate her. angel was an adult who preyed on a teenager for emotional intimacy spike was an adult who preyed on a much younger woman for sex. the way people on this website in the year 2023 are still interested in proving which one was her "true love" baffles me like did we not watch the same show?? are we not here to dissect how fascinatingly fucked up these relationships were and how freeing it is that buffy ends the story without a man?

buffy is SO constantly put on the "gotta make everyone else feel better by being sunshiny and capable and fine all the time" pedestal, that she'll lie to all of her friends and tell them they brought her back from a hell dimension to avoid making them feel bad, when she was actually brought back from some kind of heavenly place where she'd finally found peace -- and it's oddly similar to anne on this watch (s2 ending and s5 ending have a certain echo to me), when she's gone to take care of herself and everyone falls to pieces without her, and it is considered her job to coddle them and she is judged if she doesn't feel sufficiently well, they do have an expectation about her as a pillar of stability, even right after she's been brought back from the dead and made to dig her way out of her coffin (willow saying she feels let down that buffy wasn't being grateful from the beginning is the real indicator of the beginning of willow's villain-arc), and buffy instinctively knows this at this point, so the second she has the ability to... speak full sentences... she uses those to express her gratitude so that they feel okay

i think the worst part about bpd no one talks about is being self aware. being aware of it doesnt make it any better, if anything it makes it worse because of how frustrating it is. like i know that what im doing is a symptom, but i still cannot stop myself from doing it. yes, it does make me feel absolutely ridiculous that my entire mood and well-being depends on whether you say 'ok' or 'okay', but i literally do not have a choice.
