it's been said before but i think it's worth saying again: rose tyler #1 interplanetary union advocate. she will be in mortal danger and her first questions to the aliens will be "so are you getting paid? what's your benefits? do you get days off?" whenever she goes into the past her nosy ass is immediately talking up the locals with "so what're you making? shouldn't you be in school? how long is your lunch break?" you just KNOW rose accidentally (or purposefully) started multiple labor movements across time and space. and she's iconic for that actually

new who peaked when it had christopher eccleston look the last living dalek dead in the eyestalk & tell it to kill itself, only for the response to be "you would make a good dalek" there is absolutely no topping that.

I worked as a shift manager in a southern ice cream shop when I was 19 and let me tell you, I became a father the day I signed on to that promotion.
Real things I did include (but are not limited to):
- drove a crying teenager around for an hour like parents do to put a baby to sleep...turns out he's had to stab someone before? Uncertain. The story he told was hard to follow, due to the crying in question.
- bandaged two different guys hands after they punched a wall really hard. Regularly told these guys things like "I'd hit your dad with my truck if I had time to go to jail" and “shit man. You want pizza?"
- physically restrained a curious teenager from going outside during a tornado
- had a sixteen year old practice "dermatology" on my face (my skin has NEVER been worse than after she "helped" it), had another one dye my hair purple, and let multiple of them use my tattoos as a coloring book during slow shifts
- filled up a spray bottle with water and labeled it “misgender spray" and spritzed people who kept using the wrong pronouns for our nonbinary staff
- worked with the other staff member who had actually graduated high school to make a diy eye wash station out of a sterilized knife and plastic water bottle after a kid splashed ammonia on their face
- emptied a grand total of 820lbs of stock from the delivery truck by myself, including loading 30lb boxes onto shelves I needed a ladder to reach, effectively terrifying the entire staff with my "sleeper build" and revealing that I could do some insane lifting, including physically picking up teenagers and keeping them from going outside to watch tornadoes (this was before I became disabled)
-lied about whether or not I had mustard gassed myself to avoid causing a panic

This post haunts me. Now every time the cat puts her head on me right when I’m about to get up, I hear “time for snomgol my mommi :)” and promptly feel like I’m going to burst into tears
saddest thing that can happen is a cat so delicately and cozy putting their small apple head on your leg like a pillow to sleep while fully unaware that in like five minutes you're going to get up to go eat because they don't know human language or how time works

something about the final climax of thunderbolts not being this huge, explosive battle where the villain is irredeemable and the heroes summon the power of the galaxies to stop them-
but how the final climax was quiet. the darkest shadow, a void falling over new york. it wasn't loud, there wasn't any screaming. it descended upon the city and the people didn't have a chance to react before it swallowed them whole.
how the team's battle was internal, inside their own minds, instead of a huge punchy shoot-off. (especially with this group's skill set, it was unexpected) how they all fought through the shame and guilt and their worst nightmares only to embrace each other anyway. the villain fighting against himself only to realize he is allowed to be loved, despite it all.
how they are all fucked up and have done terrible things but saved the city by holding each other tightly, so tightly that bob realizes the void isn't all he is, and light always comes again.
this movie had so much heart, it made me feel something for a team again, we are so back.

Bob giving up control of his life to the physical embodiment of his depression and then beating himself up over it and the void just becoming more powerful as a result is such a perfect metaphor. like yeah, that's exactly how it is, you can't beat depression with self-loathing, you need support and purpose and the people you love and loves you. they pulled it off beautifully

Nothing in Star Wars will EVER be funnier than Obi-Wan Kenobi, Vader Enemy #1, leaving a high security imperial base with Leia Organa, Vader’s daughter, hidden under his COAT…all while Vader is right outside

“nat doesn’t match misty’s freak” babe we are talking about a woman who got out of rehab, immediately grabbed a rifle, drove to her home town, followed her ex-teammate to work, checked if she was going out, and then proceeded to break into her house and sit on the coffee table in the dark, waiting for her to get home JUST to have a dramatic entrance. if you didn’t notice this freak4freak idk what show you’re watching.

One thing that has been executed so well in Yellowjackets is Nat’s gradual evolution into the person we know her as in the adult timeline. When I first started watching the show, there was such a glaring disconnect between Teen and Adult Nat that had me really intrigued as to how they were going to bridge that massive gap and eventually connect the two timelines. And now, after Season 3, they’ve managed to bridge it in such a natural, subtle way that I didn’t even fully realize it until I looked back at Season 1.
Season 1 Nat and Season 3 Nat feel like completely different people, it’s striking. It’s more than just the grown-out roots or the loss of that grungy eyeliner; it’s in her posture, her expressions, the way she carries herself. You can see the loss of hope creeping in, the hardening around the edges. Her vulnerability and softness are still there, but they’re buried deeper, shielded by the beginnings of that detached, cynical armor we recognize in Adult Nat. By Season 3, she feels so much closer to Juliette Lewis’s version of the character than to the fiery bleach blonde version we first met in Season 1. She’s lost that spark/lightness/playfulness that she originally had. She’s shifted into something sharper, more serious and dry. Watching her transformation unfold so gradually makes it all the more heartbreaking, and all the more believable.
