Friday – “Flutter Friday” (April 18th)

Today's bug is the Glass wing Butterfly! "Greta oto"

The caterpillars *LOVE* poisonous plants!

They are migratory, which means they travel to change elevations!

They are being Conserved in many national parks!

Today, I want you guys to eat a proper meal, and take a bath/shower while cleaning yourself. or, if you can't, do one or the other. even just a swim will work; or dousing yourself with a waterhose. Have a wonderful day <3

Thursday – “Thorax Thursday” (April 17th)

today there is no featured bug!

Today, i will ask you questions and tell you all about certain bugs, and how they work!

Thorax Thursday questions: what’s your favorite bug ? What’s the most interesting fact about bugs you’ve learnt so far? are there any special bugs you’d like to see in the future? are there any bugs you think are just the cutest? ladybugs or butterflies; which one is luckier to you? are bugs friends, or just silly little guys?

Facts ! ( bees for today! 🐝)

Bees are flying insects known for pollinating flowers and producing honey (in the case of honeybees).

They are crucial for ecosystems and agriculture—around 1/3 of all food depends on pollination.

Hairy bodies help trap pollen.

They have compound eyes��and strong mandibles or proboscises for feeding.

Bees can see ultraviolet light, which helps them find nectar-rich flowers.

Honeybees perform a "waggle dance" to tell hive mates where to find food.

Wednesday – “Wiggle Wednesday” - April 16

Today's bug is the Acraga Coa Larva!

Not a lot is known about it or its adult counterpart, but many people call it the jewel caterpillar!

When they emerge from their cocoon, they are beautiful little guys of orange and fluff!

Very small moths, slightly big caterpillars!

Amazingly, their larvae are mostly see-through, coated with a pale jelly-like texture!

Tuesday – “Ticklebug Tuesday” - April 15

Today's bug is the Velvet Worm!

Onychophora - surprisingly not an actual bug! But they get a feature because most people consider them to be so

coloured orange, red or brown, but sometimes also bright green, blue, gold or white

They spit a goo to immobilize their prey!

Ambush predators! They eat cockroaches mainly, termites, and woodlice !

Ticklebug Tuesday is a day for learning about silly bugs!

Monday – “Moth Monday” ( April 14th!)

The Green Silver-lines moth!

Pseudoips prasinana - Small green moth with white lines.

caterpillar & usual home - birch forests.

Mainly eat birch, Aspen, and Hazel.

wingspan of 30–35 mm (Milimeters)! This fella is very small <3

Sometimes the white outer rim is pink!

A similar moth is the Bena bicolorana, the scarce silver-lines.

Nolidae family!

Sunday – “Snugglebug Sunday” ( april 13th! )

Today’s critter isss ��� 🍭

The candy cane snail!

Liguus virgineus, aka the Candy Cane Snail, lives in trees around Hispaniola! (Found in the caribbean)

They’re very pretty, their shells resemble candy canes! 🍭

They eat a lot of lichen throughout their life, and only leave the trees to place their eggs!
