Who said "better late than never" was talking about Jazz as she seemed to shove a container full of brownies at Skyler. "I almost didn't make it for your birthday!" There's a laugh which made it clear she was out of breath. Did she run all the way there? "Mom and I made these for you!" [@bundlesofchaos ]
"Well I can't say no to food! Besides! I know both of our Ames will share plenty!" Sonic chuckles as he looks at the container filled with brownies. Knowing that they are definately going to share this with his friends as well. "Thanks for dropping by Jazz and tell your mom I said thanks as well. Oh! And Amara really loves her recipes too! " He gives her a gentle ruffle on top of her head.

↳ @bundlesofchaos asked: Andie had done a few sketches that were littered around the place but they were nothing to what he was able to finally create with a mix of markers and colored pencils. His best at recreating the first time he saw Arrow do a spindash and smash that boulder into pieces. "Happy Birthday!" Andie said with a shy smile. "Um... I hope this is okay..."

{➹} – IT WAS A SCENE the hero remembered fondly. The first time they had met, and the first day Andie had been brought to the hero's little family. Maybe they weren't related, and Arrow wasn't even entirely sure how Andie saw the rest of them, but there was no doubt the family cared for the boy.
Having their house filled with his and Lyra's drawings was just an added plus.
"It's perfect, Kiddo. I'll never understand how you're so good at this." It was genuine praise, right before Andie got drawn into a hug by the hedgehog. With a little squeeze for good measure.

The determined look was still on Locke's face as he gave the human a few nods. The meerkat might not know how he and his father got so far apart - especially if it was going to take awhile to get back - but they would find each other again. That was one thing the teen was sure of. Even if there was a little bit of doubt.
Always that little bit of creeping doubt. But it never won against his absolute faith of his papa. Kaz had proven time and time again that he would keep Locke safe and happy.
There was a few sniffs made towards the object Julius held, as if that would somehow tell Locke what it did. Ears perked up and pupils wide to take in what was happening with it as the human pointed it to himself. For a moment he took a step closer as if to inspect that it really didn't do anything before looking down at it.
"Papa says that too... To always be prepared... Never know what... what you'll find in old ruins..." There was small movements of quick breathing as it raised up towards the teen, but he didn't move. It didn't hurt the human so surely it wouldn't hurt him. Even if the anxiety was slowly building in his chest, and his eyes weren't leaving the end of it. "...Lots of dangers in the world..."
He didn't bother to offer further explanation. To him, his mechanical children were simply that- his children. Perhaps not made of flesh and blood, but they were still his youth, and he loved them all quite dearly. Sure, they'd started as ones and zeroes- but they'd grown and evolved until each was as unique as the individual flakes of snow in winter.
Only two of his children weren't of the mechanical bent, and he considered those two as much his children as the rest. Though, he doubted Locke would be meeting those two just yet.
"Indeed, your father is quite the distance from you...but I know how to shorten that gap, don't you worry!" There'd be no long-term separated parents and children, not on his watch! Unless one counted a certain group of asshole scientists, which he did not. He watched the kid as he offered a resolute nod- a hint of sadness that told the scientist so much more than he wished he understood, but at the same time...he was grateful for it. Even if it was just the briefest flash, it would be difficult to escape the genius' examinations. "And he will. All I intend to do is help the process along." He finally picked up the scanner. It wasn't leveled at Locke, not yet.
He turned the barrel of it, a long, thin stripe towards himself, and let it turn on. A red light flashed over his chest for a few moments, before disappearing. May as well show it was utterly harmless. The barrel was flicked to be facing the grass beneath Julius' shoes.
"...it's good that your father taught you how to survive. I doubt you'll quite need it yet,...but it is always good to be prepared." He pressed a button on the scanner- and it offered a quiet beep, before the red light returned- this time, pointed at the ground. Though it slowly raised, the intent being to aim it at Locke's chest- though he'd stop if the kid started to show worry or concern. "And, if you run into any fellow youths...you can teach them, as well. Then they'll be able to survive- just in case."

With Amy right there, and Jazz not going too far into the water, the hoglet was sure she'd be fine. Although there was a pause in her excitement as she watched Amy take her shoes off before soon plopping into the sand to do the same. Not that she was totally sure why but she did remember that they didn't swim with their shoes on.
Once that was done she was quick to jump back onto her feet and run into the water.
It was absolutely lovely. It wasn't freezing cold or boiling hot. It felt pleasant and that's all Jazz cared about as she went in a little deeper. She went only far enough where she still had her feet touching the bottom of the water completely. Wasn't hard to hear her giggle as she made splashes and at one point she did take a deep breath to go under the water to look and see what was there.
Thankfully she didn't stay under long and was back up and moving around to find another spot to explore.
the speedster, true to his nature, had disappeared in a streak of blue. one amy didn't even give a second glance to. she knew he would be back with everything they needed, plus it gave him time to steel his nerves a bit being so close to the water. all these years and he was still scared to death of it.
amy was the opposite. loved the water, the ocean, and even to an extent the odd grim that came with swimming in natural, salty waters. she found it relaxing, and had no problem watching jazz while she swam. glad as she was the girl had thought nothing of the question, amy was still going to stay close.
"if you say so. i'll be right here, anyway. i think i'll look for some seashells," she mused to herself, already kneeling to take off her boots and 'socks'. no point in getting sand everywhere if she could help it. once barefoot she stretched her arms up high before stepping into the water. it was that odd cool, yet warm water that islands were known for, and she loved it.

A very different experience from Andie. Once again he wondered what it would've been like if he had been rescued and adopted sooner. Only thing he could figure for sure was that he wouldn't have gotten to know Omega and wouldn't be as attached to the bot as he was now. Not unless Omega had ran away with him...
Why didn't Omega run away with him?
There was a grin at the wink given to him. Here he was going to be safe and had plenty of people willing to keep him safe. It was strange but he was excited at the idea of getting used to it all. Maybe his childhood wasn't the greatest but his teenhood was going to be a ton of fun!
Andie didn't hesitate to start running ahead of Harmony towards the stalls. His eyes were wide as he took in all of the items that were being sold, always stopping to take it in. His hand didn't seem to leave Harmony's despite this. "Where we gettin' the sketchbook?"
At least Andie wasn’t trying to keep up when she was running normally. The teen had her younger brother’s hand in hers and was running on just her legs for the moment. Sure she was slower, but not nearly as slow as other Mobians when they attempted to run. By the time they stopped, she was grinning and wagging her tail by the entrance to the market.
“Not really. I was 2 when my dad rescued me. He said I used t’ have nightmares when I was little about it, but all I remember from that far back is when he picked me up and seeing my Unca for the first time as they ran out o’ the base before it exploded.” A clear sign that her adoption had been slightly different from the preteen.
And that his release could have been a lot more hostile had they not gotten through to Omega.
“My dad and I spent a lot o’ time on the run, but it wasn’t cuz GUN wanted me back. They were always after my dad until Tower died and Buddy’s mom took over. But now we live here and nobody fucks with us if they know what’s good for ‘em.” Spoken with a wink, the teen gestured to the stalls and vendors waiting for them. “Come on. We got shoppin’ t’ do.”

Andie couldn't help but hug back before throwing the robot a dirty look. Omega didn't seemed bothered by it, even if there was some disappointment in it. He was only doing it for the little hedgehog's safety... along with those Andie really cared about.
"I AM THE POLITEST GUEST." There was no doubt Omega would be calm and reasonable while inside. There was no reason to trash the place even if he was mildly annoyed at Andie's action. Didn't mean he had to be rude about what was being offered to him. "APPRECIATE THE OFFER."
"He should go to the trash bin..." Andie mumbled. He was just angry at the bot and didn't actually mean it.
"ANDERS HAS NOT BEEN RUDE WHILE A GUEST?" Omega was hoping that Andie hadn't been as rude to this couple as much as he was being rude to the robot.
{➹} – IT WAS A fact that might just have eased the robot if they knew just what the hedgehog in front of them was capable of. Nothing to get into that moment, if only because they didn't have all day to explain why Arrow was how he was. The point was, there was very little, if anything, that could get through the hero. Especially in his own home.
The exchange between the preteen and robot only confirmed what the couple had been saying. Andie didn't want to leave, and frankly he didn't have to if Omega could keep a secret. The boy's frustrations were palpable, and neither adult blamed him for the outburst.
The mongoose drew the boy into a hug, almost on instinct and she could see her husband visibly relax once Omega gave in. If only a little. It wasn't exactly what they were looking for, but it was enough for the moment.
"He'll be alright," Arrow reassured, no doubt or hesitation in his voice as he looked at Omega. The next part did have a noticeable pause to it, but the hero spoke anyway. "And you can stay too, as long as you're sure you can be favorable."
"And don't scratch the floors," Mina chimed in, more for humor than actual worry as she gave Andie's shoulders a gentle squeeze but didn't take her eyes of Omega. "Usually we'd invite you inside for a snack or something but I don't think robots eat. Not even the weirdly protective ones."

There's a little tilt of the head in thought before she came to some sort of conclusion. "Like Grand." She knew her grandfather could be scary when angry.
"....like big bro." Simon could be scary too. "Big bro scaly and got... got big nash hers!" Another clack of her teeth before she pointed at Dan's arm again. "People think scary too?"
He'd chortle as he watched her copy him as best she could, which also did serve as further evidence that she was perfectly fine, at least there was no risks of damage he could be blamed for. "Yeah see? you got the idea."

There was a small pause as she then asked if he was, which while he knew he wasn't the worst thing ever, it's not he could really see himself as being 'good' either.
"Can be, but I try not to be. no need to be scared of me."

Maria gives a click of her own teeth together to copy him. She definitely didn't have very sharp teeth, but that was more likely because she still had her baby teeth than anything.
"Oooh! Bad alien..." There was a moment of pondering. "You bad?"
"Yeah, gnashers....your teeth." Deliberately biting his own teeth together as a small example to help show what he meant.
As she pointed at his arm again, which he still wouldn't lower just in case she had any other ideas to try with it, he'd nod his head to her words, seeing as it would be easier to explain.

"Yeah, it's very tough, errr yeah? bad aliens....don't touch, might hurt you."

Another blink as she realized he seemed a bit freaked out. Wasn't hard to see how confused she was. Nothing seemed frightening to her.
"Nash hers?" No idea what that was. Instead she pointed to the arm that was sadly out of reach.
"Tuff! Scaly? Alien??"

"Are you ok?" He repeats in the moment, wasting no time in retracting his abnormal limb out of her reach once she'd let go. Looking this way and that, both for signs of damage to the youngster or any potentially upset parents.
Though as it becomes increasingly more evident she wasn't crying or acting on pain, he'd pat his chest sighing in relief as the wave of shock passes over. "Oh thank chaos your alright.....for a moment there I thought you'd gone and ruined your gnashers kiddo."

A blink.
This was a lot tougher on her teeth than she thought. The let go was immediate, only leaving the slightest drool from her attempt at chewing on him.
"Tuff!" At least it seemed like she didn't bite too hard and hurt herself. "Like bro?"

"Your...." That's not at all what Locke imagined when Julius said he had kids. That seemed closer to some strange monster than a kid to the meerkat. The young teen was obviously unsure about it all, even when the human did his best to assure it was alright.
This was supposed to help him get back to his dad though, right? Kaz was probably really worried about Locke being missing like this. Locke still wasn't quite sure what had happened after all. In one moment he was exploring some ruins with his dad and then the next... here. With this strange smelling human and his strange kids.
"...It's going to take a long time, huh?" Not too long, but if he thought about it, making a portal sounded like something that would take awhile. "It's because it's far away, right?" That made the most sense to him. It always took him and his dad longer to get to places farther away without any ability to teleport or fly.
"Papa showed me how to stay safe if I get lost." There was a nod. "He also told me to stay put as much as I can so he can find me. He said he'll always find me." There was a small look of sadness before he became determined. "He promised he would." Kaz's promise to never abandoned Locke was still pressed onto the teen's mind. 'I'll never leave you like they did.'
Stinky isn't bad. Locke was probably the first child Julius had ever met with that sort of mindset. He had to bite back a small chuckle at the concept- the word itself held negative intent, but...if the child was willing to view it as something neutral, then he'd take that in stride.
"No, no...that was one of my children. Yggdrasil, actually." He motioned gently towards what had just been built- not yet picking up the scanner. If the child was this worried already, who was to say how worried he'd be if Julius immediately picked up what one could reasonably assume was a gun? "I'm certain, Locke. I've tested it on myself, at least...but if it does hurt, I'll stop immediately." Julius exhaled softly. "This scanner just gives me...a map, if you will- to where you're from. And then, I can try to build a portal to take you home..." He paused, brow furrowing. "...though that may take a little bit..." He had to be careful. The man didn't want to accidentally hurt Locke- but, he'd probably have it all solved within the afternoon. Hopefully.
Otherwise,...he'd have to figure out how to give Locke the basic necessities until he could solve it- without Locke stepping aboard Tire.
"...tell me, has your father taught you a bit about how to survive if you were ever apart for a little bit? Not long, of course."

Favorite snacks?
"I love spicy things!!" She won't admit the fact that she actually takes spicy things very well and has seen her grandfather crumble to what she likes to snack on.
"Oh!! You should try spicy poprocks!!!"
