[ID: A digital illustration of Fig Faeth and Ayda Aguefort from Fantasy High. Fig and Ayda kiss, Fig holds Ayda's face in her hands and Ayda has her hands on Fig's back. Ayda's firey wings spread out around them. End description.]

This is just a smaller observation that will hopefully someday be part of a larger analysis on Kabru's view of Laios & how Laios impacts him...
But I think it really interesting that Kabru surrenders something for Laios twice, and that these moments are inversions of each other.
The first time, Kabru gives up his life to maintain his control. He changes the course of the entire story with this action, and is willing to die to achieve that. Kabru is (supposedly) entrusting the future to Laios, but he is still very much the primary actor in the overall narrative. He is still the one choosing what the story should be.

The second time, however, Kabru gives up his control to keep hold of something personal and selfish (in the way of dungeon meshi selfishness - it is a good thing to keep this desire. It small piece of what makes him a living creature). He steps aside to let Laios choose the way forward. He surrenders narrative agency for personal agency... not changing the story, but changing himself.

I like Ryoko Rui one-shot manga because no matter whether the plot is un-noosed or sth bad happens got fix, it still create a new plot point or problems.

It so realistic, world peace isnt gonna cut if one issue disappeared

Everyone, especially artists, and especially artists who take inspiration from anime*, should be aware of anti-black depictions. Iāve seen two artists in the last 6 months post racially insensitive caricatures āby accidentā** which says to me there may be a large number of people who are ignorant to certain racial stereotypes, and thus unwittingly reproduce them.
*Google Mr Popo from dragonball Z; the big round eyes, red round lips, and true-black skin are hallmarks of the āg*lliwogā caricature which is still not un-popular in Japan/Japanese markets. It has the same origin though and is recognized world-wide as an offensive and harmful stereotype.
**People who are not educated on racial stereotypes may see these depictions as innocuous and reproduce them without understanding the message they are repeating. Culture, art, and history do not happen in a vaccuum, and individual āgood intentionā does not prevent one from doing harm.
The below link leads to the Jim Crow Museumās webpage on anti-black imagery. Viewer discretion advised; if you are not prepared to see racist depictions and/or read about the violence Black people have faced, please do not click this link. I strongly advise all white and non-black people to familiarize themselves with the basics of common racist stereotypes of black people. Racist stereotypes are very easy to reproduce for uninformed people because they are very strongly ingrained in mainstream American culture (as well as cultures all over the world, but particularly ones that either had strong American influence and/or otherwise participated in the Transatlantic Slave Trade). All people who grew up with American culture have been exposed to anti-black depictions and imagery; like being able to recognize Nazi dogwhistles and symbols, you have to learn to identify and proactively combat anti-blackness.
