a surprise visit!

pairing: sim jake x fem!reader

genre: fluff, established relationship

warning(s): tooth rotting fluff, intended lowercase, reader is wearing a face mask bc of covid restrictions; jay, sunghoon, and ni-ki are mentioned (poor jay can't get a break)

synopsis: you decided to attend your boyfriend's fansign, disguising yourself as just one of his fans. you didn't think that he'd miss you that much, but you were proven wrong when he almost revealed your private relationship for the world to see.

notes: idk how fansigns work, so bear with me! i thought about this exact scenario while i was at work lol. also there's no way this all happened in one minute (੭ ˃̣̣̥ ω˂̣̣̥)੭ु⁾⁾

“next!” a staff member called out. you began to feel a little nervous, your heart pounding relentlessly as you shuffled closer to the fansign table.

you were currently attending one of enhypen’s world tour concerts in the u.s., and safe to say, you were a little nervous. jake, who so happened to be your ever-loving boyfriend, did not know that you’d be here. a couple months prior, you’ve decided to surprise him at one of his concerts after not seeing him for so long. you missed him a lot, and he missed you too, if not more.

jake did ask beg you to come to his group’s concert, even going as far as to book a hotel for you stay at. however, you told him you couldn’t with finals coming up, and that you would be too busy studying. but you did promise to call him after his show was over to compensate. he was pretty sad, but reluctantly agreed, demanding that you had to go to the next one. little does he know, you have already bought tickets for said concert.

more people in front of you started shuffling forward, and before you know it, you were next in line. you could feel your hands growing with sweat, mentally scolding yourself to get it together. calm down y/n, it’s only jake. no one even knows both of you are dating. pretend you are just a fan. act normal.

you don’t dare to expose your relationship, even so jake, for the sake of his career. you hope that he can keep his mouth, especially his hands, to himself though. he was a rather clingy boyfriend and liked to hold your hands every chance he could get. nonetheless, you were sure that a one minute fansign with him would be a breeze.

but you were wrong. oh so wrong.

“excuse me miss, you're up next,” a staff member appeared in front of you, gesturing to the empty seat left by a previous fan. you thanked them before hurriedly walking over and sitting down.

“hi! what’s your name?” you whipped your head up so fast at the voice and your eyes widened upon seeing who it was. out of all of the members, jake had to be the first one you’d greet. you almost groaned out loud, seeing as you were not fully prepared to meet him yet.

you cleared your throat, “um, it’s y/n!” you prayed that your face mask and the loudness of the area would conceal your identity enough to not be noticeable. you wanted to keep yourself lowkey for a bit, just to mess with your oblivious boyfriend.

“oh, what a pretty name! y’know, my girl— i mean, m-my friend’s sister has the same name as you. small world!” jake’s eyes bulged out immediately as soon as he almost said ‘girlfriend’, and stuttered out the rest of his comment. some odd glances were thrown his way, but he flashed a bright smile to cover up his nervousness.

this was when you slowly started to panic. it hasn't even been 5 seconds and he was already messing up. you clenched your fists in your lap, fighting the urge to smack your idiotic boyfriend’s head upside down, but you composed yourself for the sake of being in public. “what a coincidence! my boyfriend has the same name as you too,” you indirectly mocked him.

"that means he must be a great boyfriend!" jake puffed out his chest with a proud smirk. "anyone named jake is bound to be the best partner ever," he stated matter-of-factly.

"oh really? you think so?"

"i know so, i can verify because my girl— er, my friend t-told me."

you raised your eyebrow at his second slip-up. you internally cringed back in embarrassment, especially with the way jay gave him a weird look, who was sitting next to jake. it's like he wanted to tell the entire universe he wasn't single.

despite the clear shield in between you two, you beckoned jake to come closer, seemingly wanting to tell him a secret.

"well, your girlfriend doesn't think you're a great boyfriend right now, especially with the way you're exposing yourself," you whispered. adding on with a knowing wink, "jagi."

hearing that familiar nickname had jake's heart racing. his jaw dropped and his eyes widened so big, he was like a deer caught in headlights.

"j-jagi?" he was stuttering a lot this evening and knowing the others were nearby listening, he was not gonna hear the end of it back at the hotel.

you hummed, absentmindedly toying with a beaded bracelet adorning your wrist, a letter j bead woven in the middle. jake's eyes darted to your subtle action, and instantly recognized where he had seen such a familiar piece of jewelry. back in his hotel room was a matching bracelet with a beaded letter of your first initial, currently tucked away in his suitcase for safe-keeping.

jake had no words. his mouth opened and closed repeatedly, and he looked like he was gonna burst into tears at any given moment. "y/n? baby?" he breathed out in awe, "is that really you? am i being set up right now? i bet jay put you up to this he did. or maybe it was ni-ki, that little demon—"

"jake," you swiftly cut him off from his endless rambling.

"yes baby?" he unconsciously replied.

you, jay, and even sunghoon facepalmed. thank goodness the staff and other fans were too busy to hear, or else dispatch would've exposed your ass.

jake started to bounce excitedly in his seat, hands twitching by his side, wanting to push the stupid clear shield out of the way to tackle you into a hug. or maybe to even hold your hands. a cough was heard from jay, a warning for jake to not do anything stupid, especially with a thousand eyes and cameras watching their every move.

you smiled at your boyfriend either way, your eyes crinkling, showing jake that it was indeed you. waving with jazz hands, you whispered, "surprise!" to your amusement, jake's grin dropped to a pout immediately and huffed, "i can't believe you lied to me, you said you couldn't go!"

"it wouldn't have been as fun if i had just agreed beforehand," you shrugged. "plus, jay told me to do it."

jake whipped his head, facing jay, "dude! what the hell?!"

you could feel jay's glare piercing through your head, but you couldn't have cared less.

a staff member's voice chimed through the speakers, alerting that 10 seconds remained until you had to move down to the next member. "i'll facetime you later tonight so we can talk more."

"i don't want your facetime," jake stubbornly crossed his arms over his chest, sulking. "you refused my free invitation to come see me, and on top of that, you made a deal with jay. out of all people, jay!" the latter rolled his eyes at the former's whining.

you jokingly pouted back at him. although he couldn't see it, he knew you were mimicking him. "so then who's gonna receive all of my love and affection?" jake’s rigid composure started to falter. "i guess jay will have to instead," you sighed dramatically.

jay did not look amused with your antics, but his small smirk said otherwise. "yah, leave me out of this."

"yeah, leave him out of this! only i get to have all of your love. nobody else," your boyfriend remarked, sulking even more. you giggled lightly at his childish behavior, feeling like you were walking on air. you wouldn't trade him for the world, even if he was acting like a whiny baby.

the sound of a timer abruptly interrupted your conversation, reminding you that you had to continue on with the fansign event. you were a little disheartened that your time with jake was over, but no worries, you would be able to hear his voice again afterwards. you tugged your mask down slightly, mouthing an i-love-you to your now giddy boyfriend, before pulling it back up and shifting over to the chair in front of jay.

grinning ear to ear and with heart eyes, jake cupped his mouth with his hands, mouthing the same words back to you. and only you.
