From the original post:
EDSA 1986. While I was w/ Asia Visions video team covering the People Power Revolution, I found-out later, to my surprise, that my father Atty. Gumersindo Maniquis, w/ my sisters Marinela Maniquis and Mary Ann Maniquis have decided to take part in the bloodless uprising. Our Papa was a lawyer in a govt agency. Being the youngest, he did all he could to stop me from joining rallies for fear that if I get arrested I will be tortured, raped, maybe killed. My perseverance in enduring the “home treatment” and in explaining why I had to be out there paid-off, I guess. In fact, Kuya Dan and his wife were inside Camp Crame as volunteer-cooks. My mom, a public college professor, was at home worried, praying, but proud of all of us. An elderly lady approached me in a rally recently. She introduced herself as Papa’s secretary. I was truly surprised, and greater still when she told me she has been an activist way back then. When Papa found out her secret, instead of reprimanding her, he even happily talked about me. “Pinagmamalaki ka ng papa mo.” That really moved me to tears. Personally, I didnt agree w/ the coup plotters Enrile-Ramos. I felt they were avoiding the peoples’ judgement of their involvement in ML. I also believe People Power was a manipulation of the upper middle class to isolate the now-popular progressive left which since the 1970s, (despite hardships, arrests, disappearances, killed) has gained recognition and respect nationwide in leading the masses towards freedom from Marcos Regime. Everywhere I go as a documentary filmmaker, IP and peasant areas, I will encounter elderly people who will share w me stories of their peoples’ contribution to our over-all struggle to oust the dictatorship. Such as burning logging trucks, mining trucks of known Marcos cronies. They were not NPA. People Power happened. Marcos was ousted. But let us be reminded that the ousting didnt happen overnight, in those 3-4 days. It took decades of long days and nights of struggling, by the collective decision of a people to be free. But all of those I talked with were filled w sadnesd and had many questions. How come the Marcos family maintained political power? Why are there still so many human rights violations? Why do haciendas still exist? Why so much corruption in govt? For those who were part of EDSA People Power Revolution, let us go and commemorate but let us also ponder on how we can really change our society for the better, while we are still alive.

★ Jan. 31, 2016 Toraya, Tokyo: hana-goromo (lit. gorgeous-kimono/dress/clothes) ——– Ball of chunky-type sweet bean paste ‘tsubu-an’ wrapped in a pink-colored ‘konashi’ texture. 'Ume (Japanese apricot)’ blossoms are impressed on the surface. This cake apparently made its debut around 1773. ——– According to the shop, 'hana-goromo’ refers to gorgeous 'kimono’/dresses, or women’s (festive) 'kimono’/dresses worn when they go viewing spring flowers in bloom.

I’m not actually sure if I want to be open with my art/photography anymore.
I was able to find the fun in creating again but I’ve lost my confidence.

it will forever confuse me that the german tumblr app now says “… hat deinen Eintrag gelikt” and not “… hat deinen Eintrag als Favorit markiert” which is just shortened and very nice but I don’t read gelikt as [gelaikd] but as [gelikt] and that sounds as if someone licked my post and i really wish i could unread/unhear that

WATCH: The People Power Experiential Museum
The museum aims to show young people what it was like during the Marcos regime.
Using theater and visual arts, the EDSA experiential museum hopes to engage the youth and make them aware of the events preceding the historic revolution —the martial law years. (IN PHOTOS: Inside the powerful EDSA 30 experiential museum)
Here’s what some of the first visitors to the museum have to say about their experience.
