about the reunion rumors

look, i don’t want to rain on anyone’s (black) parade but i also don’t want your tiny emo hearts to break from disappointment later! so let’s go through a breakdown of everything that’s happened in the last day that’s had people freaking out and see if we can explain it:

the mcr website says (c) 2015: the webmaster has to update that every year as long as the site is still up.

the mcr website says ”check back soon for more details on the upcoming tour”: it’s a placeholder — the site has said that for a few years.

google says they’re playing a show at rock in rio on the 16th: they’re not — take a look at the lineup. plus frank’s going to be in russia in the middle of may and gerard has a show lined up in chicago on the 16th.

the mcr breakup post has been deleted from the website: that website is so fucked up i can’t believe it’s still up tbh. remember when it was glitching and flashing all the danger days slogans when you refreshed? an intern probably accidentally deleted it. same thing goes for their twitter — that shit gets hacked all the time.

“but bob said…”: with the shady way bob’s been acting i wouldn’t trust anything he says. he’s got nothing to lose by stirring the pot and seems to enjoy rumor mongering. 

mikey was at frank’s show: he was! it was lovely. it doesn’t necessarily mean anything beyond a friend going to see his friend’s new band.

gerard “went off the grid” this weekend: idk wtf this guy’s ever doing and with his life especially online and i certainly wouldn’t take any of his absurdist twitter antics as solid proof of anything. maybe he did go to frank’s show like some people are suggesting but it seems weird that no one would see him at all with how quickly/rabidly mcr fans latch onto this stuff. even if he was — see the above point.

other points of note:

lola weighs in on twitter, says they haven’t heard anything about the band getting back together: one, two, three, four. lola is either a close friend of gerard’s or a personal assistant or something, so they would know if something was up.

one of the most recent things gerard said about mcr in an interview at soundwave was: “It was 100% the right time for me to move on from My Chemical Romance. I’ve never regretted that decision. There are things I miss. Obviously I love all those guys and I miss those guys. But I don’t regret anything about it.” source

their solo projects: electric century just announced a new EP, ray gave an interview a few months ago about his upcoming solo stuff, gerard’s going back to the studio in the fall to record his second album, and frank’s still touring with stomachaches. they all seem super focused on their own projects right now — why would they get back together now with all that stuff going on? 

a lot of people are getting angry and asking what the harm is in just letting people ~believe~ what they want to believe. there’s no real harm — i just don’t want you guys to get your hopes up only to have them crashing down later. the mcr fandom has a getting-back-together scare every other week and the emotional whiplash when from when it gets debunked has to be exhausting.
