im just so sad that undercover high school wasn’t 16 eps bc besides the romance there were soooo many plot lines we could have explored throughout the series that were just haphazardly shoved into the last episode

like why principal park was SO loyal to seo myung ju was easily a plot line on its own and to potentially see him struggling with his loyalty to her whilst keeping ye na safe (and sane) from her mother’s insanity would have hit soooo hard

or a full plot line on hyung bae’s betrayal and why he was associated with seo myung ju or how did hae seong’s father even smuggle the gold out and what was the final act that lead to his death

so many missed opportunities

Kim Shin Rok, has absolutely devoured the role of Seo Myeong Ju. God I hate the character she plays, but she ate! I've only seen Jin Jung play the negative- female- principal- who- puts- her- selfish- desires- over- the- kids- and- humanity. Kim Shin Rok in this role felt like a breath of fresh air for this archetype.

Although I enjoyed the last of of Undercover high school, I do wish they had extended the last two eps by 30mins each to wrap the show up more neatly.

It felt like there were some plot holes in there.

(Ep 11 & 12 spoilers ahead)

Like why was Hae Seong already wearing a ring while he slid the ring on Su Ah's finger? And why was that ring more of a wedding band than an engagement ring? Were they already married? I'm so confused. I also wish they had given us a proper conversation between Hae Seong and Su Ah, something like him officially asking her out, before doing a time jump.

Another plot hole was Ye Na. Was she living on her own when her mom went to prison? We know she dropped out but did she join another school? And art school? Did she have any guardian?

Also could have explored why Su Ah took 5 years to become permanent? I don't know anything about how this works in the teaching sphere, but 5 years seems too long esp since she had already been teaching for a few years now. Also the fact that she literally saved the chairperson from killing herself should be worthy of some sort of an award. Why didn't they make her permanent then? Very confusing.

Lol I love how they ended with Hae Seong as a teacher. I'm still wondering if he gave up being an NIS agent to become a teacher, or if he was on another undercover mission. I like the open ending though so I'll give that a free pass.

Speaking of the mission, did all the gold go to the government or something?

Also, Hae Seong had a serious head injury judging from the amount of blood on the side of his face, but the doctors said was that he only had a concussion? Where tf did all the blood come from then? 😭

That said, I love how they cleared up his name though. It was very cool.

Also unrelated, but that whole sequence of Hae Seong running was 🔥🔥🔥

look I know, 'When life gives you tangerines' is going to bag almost all awards this year. But the every single member of the cast of Undercover high school, the writer, director of this show and everyone involved in this project really do deserve so much praise for what they have put together.

I have been in complete Awe of Jo Bok Rae for putting up such a phenomenal performance in this show, please give him every award that falls under the comedy section!
