alright so curled up sleeby manti looked like she was floating in front of a flat background (because she was), so i said fuck it and modeled some actual geometry to make her look buried in sand

a rather crude approximation, but a base 320 x 240 image dithered down to 5-bits per channel (patterned dither), slight horizontal blur to approximate the VI on the final output, then scaled up x2 (640 x 480 without interpolation) as to not be tiny on tumblr. ofc image compression is prolly gonna destroy most of that work, but so it goes! ofc this isn't very accurate to how an actual 3D scene would look on N64, given that its anti-aliasing works in a very particular, non-modern way. that and the colors of vertices and textures tend to get kinda warped in translation. this result is more adjacent to how a prerendered 2D background image might look. ah well, the sludgy smeary vasoline vibe is there at least can u tell i have unchecked adhd yet
