Industria
So there's been an event on steam, Next fest, which brought a bunch of demos of upcoming games, and i've decided try some of them out. Life's been busy lately and im happy to have a little time to try these games out. Of course, these posts are gonna be much shorter than usual, but im sure you can figure out why. So starting off, Industria It's an fps set in Berlin, immediatly after the fall of the Berlin wall, during which we get to explore some kind of sci-fi underground facility which appears to be about to explode. The game runs kinda shit, i mean i don't have the best specs and this is an unreal engine game, but still, there are some pretty apparent technical issues and horrible fps drops, but im sure they're gonna get taken care of later. The atmosphere is eccellent, you really feel like inside an about to explode facility, mostly thanks to the audio design. We get to explore the facility a bit and there's clues on what is going on, and it can even get a bit spooky! I enjoyed looking around for a little bit. We explore a bit and then we go into some kind of portal, at which point the games skips ahead and we are now in a shooting section, which is set in a destroyed version of Berlin, with weird machinery hanging from walls and doors, and i gotta say, this looks good, yeah my fps are dying but this looks really nice, can't wait to see it in a more polished state.
Tumblr media
The enemy design is interesting too, they are janky robots, making weird sounds, some of them even look cute! Sadly the shooting part isn't too great yet, it's probably because of the fps, but aiming feels kinda... shit. Im not sure how to describe it, but it just doesn't feel very good and the enemies can deal a lot of damage, so it can get a bit frustrating. There's also a little bit of dialogue, which, incredibly, isn't shit! It's not awesome either, but that's good enough for me. We also get to listen to a piece of a song after the shootout, and it feels pretty nice, with this ambience, this little bit of music and everything, it reminded me of Nier automata for a second, which is remarkable. And that's.... pretty much it, not much else to talk about but it was an enjoyable experience and i do reccomend to check it out in the future and see what happens! P.S. If the devs are reading this, PLEASE add some kind of guidance for the part inside the machine, i spent like 6 minutes trying to understand what to do because i had no idea i could interact with the levers, thanks!

Chaos Legion
Man.
Fucking Chaos Legion.
Tumblr media
It's an hack and slash made by Capcom, it's not Devil may cry, but it's kinda close.
The plot is... I don't know how to describe it, it feels good enough, but it isn't delivered very well; it's about two edgy anime dudes, Sieg Wahrheit , which, by the way, is named after a fucking painting, and Victor DeLaCroix. Sieg ( the dude you control ) killed Siela, a girl who was very important to Victor, we don't know how or when, but now Victor has gone mad and wants to bring about the end of the world and bla bla bla bla
And, you know, this isn't THAT BAD, i mean, there's a little bit of mistery going on since we don't know why Sieg killed Siela or what's Victor’s plan etc, but it feels soooo clichè and it kinda makes it hard to take it too seriously, since fucking EVERYONE can't stop from making cringe anime poses in every single cutscene.
Tumblr media
But enough of that shit, now for the gameplay. In this game you kill stuff, a lot of demon stuff and man does it feel great to kill stuff in this game. It controls like a standard third person hack and slash, you've got your standard 4 hits combo, a dodge roll, you can sidestep etc, but the interesting part comes with the legion system, your legion is basically your stand, you can choose up to 2 legions per level, there's about 7 of them and they all feel cool to use. You can use your legion by eiether performing an assist (your legion comes out for a single attack) or by just summoning them, which makes Sieg weaker and slower but the price to pay is well worth it. Sieg in general controls pretty well, the dodge roll is kinda trash and jumping away is always the better solution for dodging attacks. Also it feels sooooo cool to just walk around with your legion following you, makes for great screenshots too!
Tumblr media
The levels are super linear, you go in a room, enemies spawn, you kill them, go to the next room, repeat. BUT, surprisingly, it doesn't get boring! Killing shit just feels good and there's enough room for you to experiment and play around with your legion to see what works and what doesn't, and it's something that you'll have to do cause this game doesn't fuck around, even on the standard difficulty some levels will kick your ass for a while, but the game isn't very long so it doesn't get too frustrating. Bosses are also pretty good for the most part, even if a bit gimmicky.
Tumblr media
*im too cool to look into the camera* This leads me to talking about something else; the lenght of Chaos Legion. It's pretty short, about 5 hours to finish up the campaign, but you can also get back on the already completed levels to get more exp and high scores etc etc. The thing is, those 5 hours will feel much, much longer than what they really are. I would normally be able to finish a game that lasts 5 hours in one sitting, but Chaos Legion fucking EXHAUSTED me, after every couple levels i just had to close the damn thing cause i was phisically getting tired, but in a good way! Im not sure how to describe it, you should try this for yourself. One of the things that can make the whole experience feel frustrating is the lack of a decent tutorial for most of your moves, or any kind of explanation on how to level up your damn legion really. For example, at one point i kept on bumping into items that i just couldn’t reach with my normal jump, i went into the menus and found out that i was supposed to be able to jump higher thanks to one of my legions but it didn’t really tell me how, turns out you have to level up the ‘’enchant’’ attribute to get passive bonuses for Sieg, which kind of fucking sucks. Speaking of level up, there are two ways to get stronger, exp ( which is used for your legions only ) and items, items straight up increase your attributes permamently, and there’s no end to them, so in theory you could just repeat a level over and over again to farm stat-boosting items to get stupidly op, but there wasn’t really a need to do that. You can see that as a kind of last resort, if the game is getting too intense, you’re taking too much damage or not dealing enough, just retreat and farm a bit, it can only get easier. To wrap this up, there are two last things i want to mention At one point in the game you get to play as another character, Arcia, who duel wields guns, and honestly, despite her having a single level, she’s just so much more fun to play as than Sieg! The whole time i was playing her level i kept on thinking ‘’man i wish there was a whole game where you play as her’’ which i found pretty interesting, given how usually games throw at you ‘’alternative’’ levels (such as the ones with vehicles in crash bandicoot) and they can be total trash or just boring, when here it’s just better than the base game!
Tumblr media
And now, for the audio. The audio is really fucked up. The voice acting is... decent, about what you would expect from a sunday morning anime, the sound effects are way too fucking loud, i really suggest turning them down first thing after you boot up the game, but the music is FANTASTIC, honestly, the boss themes are absolute banger and they immediatly ended up in my playlist, if you’re not sure about playing this try to look up the boss theme, you’ll want to play this after hearing that!
Tumblr media
Oh, an by the way, this is painting after which the protagonist is named, it’s called  Allegory or The Triumph of Justice, 1598, by Hans von Aachen

Nano Breaker
I’ve just finished playing Nano Breaker, it’s an hack and slash for the ps2, and it was... interesting? The plot is about a cyborg ninja called Jake, who has a really edgy past, going on a mission on a island to stop a bunch of nano machines who went berserk. Mh... a cyborg ninja called Jake, with a nano-electric sword, who also has silver hair and a really edgy past...
HOLY FUCK
Metal gear rising ripped off Nano Breaker
And the more i kept on playing, the more similiarites started coming up, even on the gameplay level, you can cut off limbs from the enemies and there’s a certain focus on wheter your moves go horizontally or vertically, and some enemies need to be hit in certain spots with specific cuts and... it never ends.
I was really damn confused, i went to look if the developers were the same or something but no, i just found out that a dude who worked on Castlevania was involved, but other than that, nothing!
So, anyway, back on the actual game, it’ pretty nice, while not being exactly ground breaking or anything, it manages to do some pretty rad stuff!
For starters, you can tear apart enemies limb from limb by cutting them in a specific way, which makes them much weaker. Jake can be a bit stiff to control, since his animations always have some end frames that can’t be cancelled, so you gotta pay attention to not use the big, long lasting moves at the wrong time.
Normally Jake uses a sword but by doing combos you can turn it into a number of other weapons for a single attack, it’s a pretty fun system, and trying out all the different weapons can be a lot of fun. There are also active abilities, they are either completely useless or super op, i didn’t even use some of them once during the entire game, while i just spammed others as long as i could.
Tumblr media
This damn fog reminds me of Silent Hill, spooky!
There’s also a lot platforming to do, but honestly, it’s not that great. You unlock a double jump pretty early in the game but Jake is just too damn stiff, while you’re jumping from a platform to another it feels like he’s made of solid wood, which can lead to some frustrating moments.
Where the game really shines tho, is in how it manages to always offer you something new, every boss is different from the last, has, each platforming section has something you didn’t see before, and even regular combat sections manage to surprise you a little bit, maybe with a small time trial, short escort mission or HOLY SHIT THE WHOLE ROOM IS SINKING QUICK KILL THE OTHERS THEY WEIGH TOO MUCH
Tumblr media
Lookin’ good
As you can tell by the screenshots, Nano Breaker has almost no colors, this is greyscale, the game. It’s not really that bad, but there’s a couple moments where you have to jump from a grey platform to other grey platforms, on a grey background. In short, you can’t see shit.
Altough, it does manage to pull off some interesting visual stuff in the later sections.
Tumblr media
I managed to finish the whole thing in about 4 hours, and i think it’s great that it was so short, it manages to do it’s own thing without boring you.
The music was... kind of forgettable, besides 1 or 2 tracks which were pretty catchy.
Try it out if you’ve got a couple hours to spare, it was pretty pleasant to play and it even managed to give me a bit of a challenge towards the end!
Thank you for reading!

Welcome to BustedAssGames!
Im always looking for new games to discover, im mostly searching for obscure or generally forgotten stuff, and once im done with them im DYING to talk about them with someone, but my friends aren’t really into this kinda stuff, so i decided to open up this blog to talk about whatever stupid game i find! To find them i usually just go to emulation sites and download a shitload of games at random, maybe the cover or the name of the game caught my eye, who knows. This isn’t really going to be a review kind of blog, it’s just going to be me talking about them like you were one of my friends, totally spoiler free! Also, if you know any interesting/not so well known game for whatever console (or pc) let me know! I’ll check it out and i may talk about it! Also please note, im doing this just for fun, do not take these posts as anything more than a chat with a friend about some old ass game. Thank you for checking this blog out!
