yes i know this isnt consistent with canon because joseph already has the guilt of losing claude to live with. but do u think, upon befriending mary and viewing her as a person rather than the queen he remembered as a child,,,,do u think he feels guilty. for being the one that got away. for being one of those noble families that threw their queen to the execution block and ran away. perhaps all these years it was never a concern for him. she was no one he knew well enough for that after all. but now, now that there is this friendship between them, built on shared sorrow and loss,,,,do u think....a suppressed guilt he never knew existed resurfaces everytime he remembers. the way they led her to her death. the shackles, the cheap white dress, the pale face resigned to her fate. Everytime she coughs and touches the stitches on her neck, do you think he feels a pang of shame....for abandoning her....even if they didnt quite know each other at all back then. Do you think he feels it. The guilt.

man the amount of official art with both mary and joseph makes me so so happy because my favorite two characters whom i hc as best friends not simply because they appear so often together but also because they have shared history together and complement each others personalities really well,,,,,like dammit their friendship is so perefct i could go on for hours and hours. I hope we keep getting more art of these two just fooling around and shit talking others in the manor.

watching idv's video on mary,,,,ofc basically the execution of marie antoinette, it really made me wonder.....what could be the thoughts of someone who has been sentenced to death by decapitation? in their final moments, as they look at their own face staring back at them in the reflection of the water. i really love idv's portrayal of mary,,,of her melancholy and sorrow, like yeah she was haughty and prideful and perhaps egoistical when alive, but it can be clearly seen that after her death, she has left behind all such grandeur and pompadour. In official arts, where she is just sharing a glass of drink with someone, or just looking after robbie,,,, she looks so simple and unrestrained, it makes me very happy. I know this is truly nothing, that in reality there is no afterlife or eternal existenec for idv characters,,,expecially for a character like Mary. Even then, it delights me everytime I see her in official arts, so happy and free,,,,just interacting with others normally,,,,ah mary my beloved,,,,,i hope we get lots more art of her simply being happy this year

When i say i love mary bloody queen idv yeah its because shes a pretty woman with a cool gameplay style and mirrors and lovely animations. BUT also,,,,the horror,,,,of womanhood,.,,of being a sacrificial pawn in the politics of men. of being blamed for the downfall of a country when in reality you probably you deserved less than a tenth of the blame. oh the horror, of ur cheap white dress given in the gallows turning red due to the blood seeping from your decapitated neck. the unfairness, the sorrow, the melancholy, sons and daughters snatched away and lost,,,,a tarnished name, a queen who is nothing more than a laughingstock, a puppet to vent frustrations on. A life of grandeur and luxury, a life of scrutiny and mockery, the final moments met with jeers and curses. A life barely lived,,,,,the Bloody Queen......bloody,,,haunted by her own blood seeping onto her white dress in the reflection of the bucket of water placed under the guillotine.

She dances alone, because no one ever was truly there for her ever. Be it in life, or death. The Queen who lost her head. Literally. That Queen, she had no interest in chess, because the Queen is the easiest piece to capture.

don’t know who needs to hear this but AO3 comments section is not Letterboxd. giving unsolicited criticism to a fanfic writer does not make you a “fanfic critic” because there’s no. such. thing.

giving unsolicited criticism to a fanfic writer just makes you a spoiled, rude, entitled asshole at best, makes the author stop posting their works altogether at worst.

a reminder that it’s always okay to just stop reading and quietly click away from a fic if at any point you feel like you don’t like it for whatever reasons. unless specifically asked, there’s no need to tell the author, whose work you read for free, how you dislike something they wrote for themself for fun.
