Important lessons: look carefully; record what you see. Find a way to make beauty necessary; find a way to make necessity beautiful.

Half a heart? I wouldn’t even know how to.. It’s always been with my whole heart. I usually end up hurt.. But I simply don’t know how NOT to give all of myself…. It’s just how I’m wired.

Sunsets were the primary reason I got my first digital camera. Nature has provided some of the most beautiful images I’ve ever captured; this is just one of many.

Sometimes if I can let go of my ideal scenario for something (like walking in the woods) and breathe the essence of that desire (to feel summer, to be in alignment with the earth) into this moment. . . .lying here in bed, I am surprised to find that I can hear more than a six different kinds of birds in the trees next to my window. It's as if my hearing becomes more acute- I can hear the city but I also hear the wind through the leaves, the children giggling in the park and the birds. And I smile. The pain is still there but the birdsong is what holds me. Whatever the limitations of the moment, may we learn how to live fully with what is. Not always easy, but life is too short and too precious to wait for things to change as we would hope they will. Let's be where we are, offer what we can, and take turns leaning into each other when we need a little help."
