3D rendering of my warden.  Sadly he’s not going to look the same with the baked textures so I thought I would share the cuddly version.

Released improved flower and tall grass textures with the 1.18.2 release!  I like multiple flowers in a texture rather then a single one, fills out the space better I think.

Redid my tall and short grass textures and love how they turned out.  Especially the tall grass, took me a bit to work out how the get the tint overlays to leave the top of the grass alone.

Released a new update today for my texture pack!  See link in the bio.
Mainly finetuned the specular and normal maps including the ones added for 1.7.
Also discovered a workable workaround when trying to use shaders with my textures and optifine crashes the games.  Disabling Terrain Animations seems to do the trick, which is a better workaround then removing my item textures from the pack.
Screenshot is using the BSL Shaders.

Finally completed the mobs to complete my 2000Leagues texture pack and its available separately in three resolutions, 256x, 512x and 1024x.
The textures themselves are generally inspired by the Vanilla textures since I personally like to recognize what I’m looking at as I run through my mc worlds.
The reason why I did the three resolutions is that I couldn’t get the same sharpness with the entities at 256x as I can with the block textures.  It’s very strange to get the same type of resolution for the block textures, I had to go up to 1024x for the entities.  But I knew that 1024x would be hard for most people to run with consistently, so I did a little extra work and created the three resolutions.  I think the 512x is the good compromise between resolution and pack size.

Finally found inspiration to start working on mobs, sticking close to the original textures but making them pretty.  So far all of the passive mobs are done, including the ones added in 1.17.
The only thing I have to debate right now before releasing the update, is that I made all of the mob textures at the 1024 resolution and if I should lower it.  My pc runs it fine but it has beefy hw.

1.17 snapshot blocks coming soon, I’ll release it once curseforge updates it’s versions list.
Since optifine hasn’t released a version that will support the snapshots yet the POM and specular texture maps don’t work but I thought I would get at least the color textures done.

Released a new version of 2000 Leagues texture pack on Curseforge, see bio for link.
Added a few of the glazed terracottas, the smithing table, loom, fletching table and the base terracottas.  Plus added the smoker and tweaked some normal maps for others.
With the terracottas, I debated about keeping the red tint in the colors but I personally haven’t seen anyone really build with the original base colors, see below for comparison.

So I decided to go ahead go for the pure colors rather than the red tint.
For the smoker, I put a lot of time in making the POM texture for it but was sad to see that the game only uses the POM from the front for all sides even though I have normal maps for the sides and top.  I’m not 100% sure if it’s a problem with the shaders but two of the shaders, BSL and Silders Vibrant, I tried it with did the same thing.

Fixing Minecraft held item textures edges
One reason I’ve put off making a lot of held items is because I did not like how Minecraft Java handled the edges for my textures.
Tumblr media
Searching the forums and the bug tracker I found MC-6951 but it was marked as fixed 7 years ago.  I’ve added a new comment saying the problem is back if it was fixed but who knows if it’ll be addressed now.
So I looked for workarounds.  I knew I had to get rid of as much of the edge transparency as possible which is hard to do when you’re working with higher resolutions since that is how you get more detail.  I found a post in the Photoshop forums since that is what I use that suggested doing multiple copies of the layer and slowly it solidifies the edge transparencies.
My original psd:

I duplicated the feather layer 43 times, that range seems to work the best without overloading the file but I vary it depending on how many times I feel like copying the layer

My updated feather texture in-game:

It’s not perfect, Mojang I think still needs to fix the bug but it’s better than before.  Now I’ll have to update the held items I’ve already done and do the same to them.

My java Minecraft texture pack,2000 Leagues, is now on curseforge!  (see link in bio)
It’s still a wip but most blocks and a lot of the held items are done.
The texture pack has POM/normal maps and specular textures so shaders are highly recommended, BSL in particular but not required.
This pack started out as a Bedrock RTX beta texture pack but RTX beta is kind of unplayable at the moment, so I converted what I had to Java and will be working on both at same time.  One day the Bedrock RTX version will be available too.
Would love to see people’s screenshots or feedback on the textures!
