Father - Alaric Reddington

Her father is a retired British hero who dotes on his daughter as if she were his reason for breathing. Well, his second reason for breathing. The first being his lovely wife, Sakai, whom he met during an international hero convention in his early days. Hana is fairly close to him, but now that she is out on her own, she hasn’t had the time to go meet up with him.

Mother - Sakai Konomi

Her mother is a middle school teacher who also dotes on her daughter. They’re a very happy family and since Hana is their only child, both of her parents spoiled her beyond reasoning. Her mother was the worst for it. Hana is closer to her mother than she is her father, simply because she’s a mama’s girl. When she passes her mother’s school on patrols, she tries to at least go in and say hi.

Backstory

Hana was born to Alaric Reddington, a former British pro-hero who had been put out of commission during an attack, and Sakai Konomi, a middle school English teacher. They met by happenstance during an International Hero Convention and then once more when Alaric moved to Japan two years later. For them, it was love at first sight. They quickly ushered those feelings into creating a family of their own. Within a year, Hana was born.

Her early years were relatively normal as she grew up in the bustling city of Fukuoa. Her home life was near perfect, idyllic even, according to some of her mother's co-workers. She spent her summers in the U.K. to meet with one set of grandparents, then the rest of the year she stayed in Japan. When her quirk manifested and her schooling started, her visits dwindled until she wasn’t able to make the trips.

This was partly due to the fact that Hana required special quirk counseling and had weekly meetings with the counselor. She was always accidentally making small gravity wells and getting people caught in them. It was a mess. It took up until her first year in highschool for her to fully grasp the complexities of her own quirk.

Now a few years after graduation, she's currently working as a sidekick for a hero in her home city. She's hoping to open her own agency to continue where her father left off on his own journey.

Quirk Information

Name: Menekinesis

Type: Emitter

Description: Using the moon’s energy, Hana can manipulate gravity in the form of Gravity Wells. Thanks to her training as a child and with the HPSC, she no longer has to concentrate on an area where she's using her wells; she simply reaches out to touch the air with her palm and that area is converted into a well.

Primary Move:

Gravity Well - This well has a 30 ft (9 m) radius and lasts upwards of 5 minutes. It keeps a person, or objects, suspended without movement.

Secondary Move:

Gravity Pillar - Hana surrounds herself in a pillar of gravity big enough only for her to stand in that moves with her. She can essentially “fly” with this, but it works on a timer. 15 seconds on, 15 seconds off. So she could shoot up, fall, then propel herself forward. Pull and Push - Hana brings people or items into the center of the gravity well crushing them together, then releasing them at high speeds.

Drawbacks:

1. While menekinesis manipulates energy in the form of gravity, Hana has to rely on her own energy when using it indoors. This quickly drains her energy and can put her into a state of tiredness that can result in a deep slumber if her quirk is overused. 2. It’s common knowledge that the moon does not, in fact, disappear when the sun comes out. However, for Hana’s quirk, menekinesis is noticeably weaker during the day. She has to rely on her own energy which, like the previous drawback suggests, makes her tired.

1. It’s a great way to stop a villain on the run! 2. Limited crowd control. 3. Intimidating when it’s being used by a woman wearing a stola...

She also loves mythology with her favorite being Greek, if her hero name and outfit didn’t give it away. Hana is getting into astrology as well, though she’s not very good at it yet.

Personality: Hana is very in tune with herself and goes out of her way to keep some of the “bad ones” locked away in order to keep her image clean. “Bad ones” being anything she deems to be negative: anger, frustration, melancholy, etc. Because of this, she appears to be an empathetic woman with a pension for putting others far before her own needs, humble to a fault (thinking she's “just doing her job” or “anyone would do it”), and hardworking. When it comes to her job as a pro-hero, she's observant, noticing every small detail, and professional - once again wanting to keep her image immaculate. She's enthusiastic about her work as well; overjoyed to be the one that's saving people or stopping criminals.

She has many hobbies that she indulges in when she gets time to do them. The main one being dancing. When she's clubbing or just dancing in general, she feels lighter, happier. Like she's free to be herself, repressed emotions and all. She's yet to find a dance partner, but she's perfectly okay being on her own.

Hana Konomi, also known as The Moon Hero: Selene, is the number 24 hero in Japan! Despite the competitive nature of some high ranking heroes, she has chosen to take the humble route and let her abilities speak for themself. A small group of people believe she's the avatar of Tsukuyomi, the Japanese moon god, even if the inspiration for her hero name and costume came from Greek mythology. Their support shot her up in the rankings!
