1900’s Lookbook Part 2

The Edwardian era took place from the late 1890’s to 1914, or the beginning of the Great War (World War I). Also called La Belle Epoque (the Beautiful Era), and/or the Gilded Age, this was a time when women’s fashions took on a new opulence and extravagance, inspired by the hedonistic lifestyle of Britain’s King Edward VII.  

These particular looks focus on clothing popular from 1900-1910, which along with being a decade, was the length of King Edward VII’s reign.

My first 1900’s lookbook is one of my favorites (and most popular according to my stats!) and likely why I put this one off so long 😜 Click here to see part 1 and click here to see the rest of my decades.

I've tweaked Maria's lookbook to more accurately reflect the 1890's decade. I am no fashion expert-- and struggle a little to retain all of the associated information despite finding it all so interesting!

I kept a couple of things in mind when choosing Maria's outfits. Maria comes from a very modest, working class background. I imagine much of her clothing belonged to her mothers and were altered by Maria both for fit and to reflect "modern" trends. Maria is a skilled seamstress, as are most of the women in her family. This is how she was able to create her bicycling outfit. Additionally, Maria does not use brightly colored fabrics, as she wouldn't have had much access to these rarer and more expensive dyes. She also pretty much wears the same pair of boot with every outfit. I have a formal dress in-game, but haven't shared it here as I am not sure she would really have any use for it. She would likely wear her "going out" outfit to church on Sundays as well as to any wedding. This might change as she and Sal earn more income in future years!

Note: I tried to research differences between 1890's British/American fashion and that of Italy, but there just wasn't much easy-to-access info out there. There were some images and a couple vague articles, but nothing that really left me with a good understanding of the topic, unfortunately. If anyone has any knowledge to share, I'd love to learn more!

Since y’all seemed to enjoy the last lookbook as much as I did making it, here is Miss Florence Ackers, right after she becomes Mrs. Florence Darlington in the early to mid 1890s.

Her style is very relaxed with natural elements like her flower accents and earth tones. She wears mostly separates, for easy mixing and matching, and has more practical than formal looks. Most outfits are suitable for working outside, and some still have the details of a younger girl, like her shorter hemlines and slightly lower necklines.

Her hair is looser than is typical of a married woman in this time, which is due to her independent nature and disinterest in learning trends. However, I also imagine her mother-in-law is beginning to influence her, convincing her to buy new hats and a nice winter coat. Multiple pieces also have embroidery work, which are meant to be the handiwork of her mother, who is a talented seamstress.

Carriages & horses MOD.

Hello. I have finished this set. They are some horsed vehicles for your sims. They work as a bike. They are a pegasus, horse, wild west carriage, antique carriage and a conversion of TSM stagecoat. Hope you will like.

They are located at vehicles or outdoor activities. On the carriages the horses are little distorted because its difficult to acurate the weight transfer of the bones. Please forgive me :( but I did my best to look them nice and cool.
