The skulltimate series 2 have those fur lined throws; do you think this line is leaning toward winter?

I’m not too sure actually,, the only other thing that says winter is Draculaura’s earmuffs and frankie kind of has an “ice princess” vibe!! There’s also sparkle shapes that could look like snowflakes but the funny thing is that these are apparently being released in summer so idk 🤷‍♀️ but hopefully if there’s a winter time episode we will see these looks in the show!!

there are a lot of things in fashion that would be better off not on a doll marketed towards kids

okay so I’m super excited for the skulltimate secrets series two because I think this is the best line in a while but can we please talk about the collar they gave clawdeen, I can’t be the only one who thinks it’s weird and that it looks borderline like a kink collar

it does also look like a moschino collar and I went to go look it up to get a picture of it and apparently it’s actually a dog dollar, and I get that Clawdeen is a werewolf but like this is a little odd especially for a line that is mostly targeted towards kids (there’s actually a lot of issues with fetish/kink gear on dolls and I do plan on talking about it more because it’s really disturbing)

Clawdeen’s collar in the new Fearidecent Secrers line rubs me the wrong way. For multiple reasons.

Showing a POC character, who’s also part of a canine like species, wearing a collar, an item which symbolizes ownership feels so wrong. Dehumanizing.

There’s also the fact it looks like a common kink gear- @ca-cupid made a post about that and you should read it.

i think part of the problem is they’re trying to make dolls to appeal to the growing adult collector market, who want more runway/edgy fashion, but they don’t want to make separate product lines so they’re trying to toe the line of fashion that’s like appropriate for children & appealing to adults who don’t just want 7 princess dresses

You are exactly right!! I noticed that with a lot of doll lines having reproductions made so there’s the nostalgia, and a lot of newer brands have a 90s or y2k kind of vibe to them and I think that’s playing on the nostalgia as well

I also saw a video on YouTube a while ago about how doll collectors are more popular than ever rn and then there was the whole thing about toy stores having low demand so they closed down a bunch of locations,, I feel like the doll market is really divided in a weird way but what you said is so true

a lot of things that were once considered risqué become mainstream fashion and lose the sexuality once inherent to them before trickling down to kids and doll trends, i’m not gonna defend any and everything becoming kids’ clothes, but clawdeen’s necklace isn’t a collar, it’s a thick leather/belt or collar style necklace. not saying you have to be okay with it oc just offering another perspective

I totally get where you’re coming from and I agree and I appreciate the perspective however I still find it weird, imo it’s less weird on Clawdeen because I feel like mattel is just following trends of other dolls, but with a brand like LOL surprise where it’s a repeated thing and there’s other controversies around them involving more explicit things I feel like it’s intentional in a way, this clawdeen doll seems more tame in comparison to other things I’ve seen on dolls but it’s still not great to put on a kids toy yk

its a choker with words on it it's not fetish gear you can find chokers with words on it at like, claires and walmart. you're pearl clutching

Fetish gear has been incorporated into fashion and has become more mainstream which is probably why you can find it at Claire’s and Walmart (and yeah that’s still an issue), call me a pearl clutcher or whatever but there have been so many cases of fetish gear and inappropriate things with dolls lately I don’t think it’s that dramatic for me to talk about

I’m making a dress for a rh doll and I want to dye the fabric but I don’t entirely know how to go about it because I’m worried it will stain the doll? Anyone know if it will be okay or have any tips??

@lunesta-rose omg I remember when those came out and it was a really big deal!! I loved them and I really wanted one at the time but I wasn’t too into doll collecting

Also I know they’re from Mattel but they’re still not actually Barbie yk? I really wonder if Mattel would ever make an explicitly trans dolls (kinda like what they’re doing with the sims now with the top surgery scars)

I’m honestly kind of surprised that with all the recent inclusivity with the brand Mattel hasn’t made any trans or nonbinary Barbies??

Usually dolls with ponytails like that have a rooting pattern that has hair in a circle around the edges to keep the ponytail from being bulky so the middle of the head might be a little sparse

I have also heard that the cheer dolls were budget dolls so it’s possible that the quality might not be as good (I can’t say for sure I don’t have any cheer dolls, this is just what I have heard!)

Are rainbow high cheer dolls usually poorly rooted?

I got a used cheer Violet and Poppy. Neither has a partline and the hair is very sparse

Luckily the hair that Poppy does have is in really good condition

Violets hair on the other hand is a nightmare. It was smooth and straight for about 2 minutes after I detangled it then it turned frizzy and ragged

I have a cheer Jade as well and she has a good amount of hair. She was purchased new though
