Finally managed to put out a new chapter (link is here) of my Burakhovsky fic! I’m sticking with the theme of the previous chapters and naming it after a song lyric. It took forever to update because for some reason, my soul has a visceral aversion to putting the characters in happy, fluffy domestic situations.
Also, while planning the next chapters, I discovered a concept that I feel is quite underutilized within the fandom: erotic vivisections. I rest my case.

I know this may sound like a dumb question, but I’m genuinely curious: where exactly in the games does it mention that Artemy has a bad knee? I’ve heard it mentioned so many times in the fandom, but I can’t find proof of it anywhere, not in the games nor design descriptions.
Either I’m incredibly dumb and missed something super obvious, or this is the most elaborate gaslight plot conceived in any fandom ever.

Made a pathologic patch for my pants a while ago. It’s a bit faded since it’s been washed a few times, but I still think it’s cool (if you ignore the shitty stitch work)

I saw this pin at a flea market, and it reminded me of Dolores Dei.

If you want my personal interpretation of it, the right can represent humanity itself, and the flowers the love for humanity. Idk, I’m just yapping

I forgot to update on here whoops. Anywho, if anyone’s still interested, I posted a chapter 3 of my angsty Burakhovsky fic!
I had to post it a bit earlier than intended cuz I got hit with the most devious ao3 author’s curse and I almost got stuck in a war zone, lol. I’m hoping to get the next chapter out before a missile hits my house.

Absolute godly find at the bookstore. I found this right after publishing the first chapter of my new patho fic. This isn’t an ao3 author’s curse, it’s an ao3 author’s blessing.

Summary:
So what if his former associates thought of him as a lowlife? So what if he was disgraced from academia? So long as he was still welcomed back into the town-on-Gorkhon, nothing else mattered.
With quivering hands, he picked up the letter and carefully opened it as though he was afraid something would jump out at him from inside it. But nothing had changed, it was the exact same as when he had first read it a week ago.
Bachelor Daniil Dankovsky,
There is another way.
— Victoria Olgimskaya Sr., The Light Mistress.
Yes, there was hope for him still, and hope he would cling to till death did them part.
———
Over a year later, Daniil Dankovsky returns to the Town, with a letter from a dead woman and a ticking time bomb inside his own body, in a last-ditch effort to defeat death.
#pathologic#pathologic 2#burakhovsky#ao3#this is my first time posting a fic on here idk if I did it right#but check it out if you like stories about thanataphobes desperately trying to save themselves#and no i will not elaborate

Does anyone else get the feeling that the reason why Rubin was so hostile to Artemy at the beginning of patho 2 was partially due to his own repressed resentment of Isidor?
Hear me out on this. I noticed this when Rubin mentioned having to sleep on Isidor’s floor when learning medicine under him. I get the feeling he’s somewhat bitter about his treatment as a student: being forced to sleep on the floor instead of Artemy’s room, probably being kept at an emotional arm’s length by Isidor, and maybe being constantly compared to Artemy by Isidor.
Don’t get me wrong, I believe Rubin did care about Isidor and vise versa, but I think there’s some part of him that’s resentful at the idea that the only reason Isidor would even take him under his wing was just to ensure that the town would at least have another doctor. Of course, he never aired this to Isidor.
And how that Isidor’s dead and Artemy’s back, I get the feeling he’s releasing part of his resentment to Isidor at Artemy.
You know what? I wanna write a fic about this now

I think I found the answer as to which ending is the right one.
It’s literally told to us in the introduction to the original game by Burakh, “any choice is right so long as it’s willed.” The game encourages you to take an egoist approach to the endings.
The “bad end” where the plague infects the town is only bad because it happens against the will of the healer/player. Any other ending would be considered a good ending since it happened in accordance with the player’s will.
For example, imagine if during a playthrough of the Bachelor’s route, the Diurnal ending happens (I know this isn’t possible, but just humor me for a moment). Even though most of the fandom, from what I can tell, considers the Diurnal ending to be the best one, I would consider this a bad ending since it went against the will of the bachelor/player. This choice was not willed, this it is wrong. The good endings are the ones that you will.
If you think about it, it also fits in with the game’s themes of fate and free will. Resigning yourself to fate and accepting an ending you didn’t will is considered bad, while willing the ending you want is encouraged. Even in the final discussion with Mark Immortel in patho 2, you’re given the option to decide if you want to stay in the theatre or not. You literally will Burakh’s identity as a character/actor because you managed to will the ending you, as the Haruspex, desired.
In short, egoism.

Idk why, but I feel like Clara would be the type of kid to be starting fires and throwing tables in the back of the classroom, and when she gets called out for it she’d be like “WHAT DID I DO??” and “why does the teacher always target me?”

Being a patient or any citizen in pathologic 3 must be so concerning, because imagine leaving one of your family members in the makeshift hospital, assured that they’re in safe and capable hands
Then you walk out and see it’s leading doctor pulling water pumps and kicking trash cans while mumbling to himself and taking enough amphetamines to kill a bull
