I shared this on Facebook last week so I'm sharing it on here today: So I've created something new - "The Business of Animation Podcast" - which will update every....as and when I find time for it ��😎😎 (seeing that we currently have a 21-day countrywide shut down from Thursday, I think I'll make time👌🏾) This is a podcast I've created for budding animation entrepreneurs, like me, who are wanting to build financially sustainable businesses, while also being fulfilled by this creative career. This is a topic that doesn't get spoken about enough or at all when it comes to actually working in the Animation industry - especially in South Africa. I started my studio in 2017 and, literally, I am learning as I am going - which is also a metaphor for life 😎. This is not a "how-to" guide. I'm just sharing my story and experiences to possibly benefit the animation/creative arts community. . . Happy New Year! I printed my first #zine. Always wanted to print my stuff, but I hesitated so much and the print shops hardly ever do small batch printing 🙃. Woke up this morning and I wanted to finish off a drawing with some clean line work, but my hand was so rusty so I decided to do some warm up sketches based on some Pinterest references. Then I decided to colour in this sketch because I 💜 blue hair. Think I discovered a new art style along the way. It's a combination of a lot of different techniques I've used this year. What I have learnt this year... Evern since university I always feel like I'm doing something for the first time and I'm figuring it out as I go. It was frustrating and scary because literally life has no manual (not counting the Bible). I shared this revelation in passing with my mom the other day and she just took it one step further. For example if you think about babies waking and talking literally nobody tells them how to do that they just figure it out as they go and as they watch others constantly attempting and failing and getting up again. Eventually waking and talking become super easy to do that we don't even think about it. Wild! If I think about life's challenges like this and all my hopes and dreams and goals and prayers like this, then it doesn't seem as daunting.
