#KimickaPhotoADay December Day 30: Reflect 🤔☺️ Well, well, well, would you look at that. There's just one day of 2021 left. This year has been a mixed bag, for sure. Overall, everyone says it's an extension of 2020, and while, yeah, both years have been pretty bad (that snowpocolype in February wasn't fun(though I did enjoy the first day of playing in the snow lol), there have also been some pretty great moments too. From Taylor Swift releasing both Fearless (Taylor's Version) & Red (Taylor's Version) to Taeyeon releasing Weekend to Girls' Generation's reunion on You Quiz and Girls' Generation's subunit Oh!GG releasing Melody on the SMTown winter album. From getting the Covid vaccine to a power outage leading to me getting everything I wanted for my birthday. From Valentine's Day traditions to Easter brunch to Christmas in July to decorating cookies for Halloween to watching the Macy's Day Parade & roasting a 25lb Turkey (for just 6 people) on Thanksgiving to a magical Christmas. From a fun-filled family reunion trip to Galveston (saw my best friend in person for the first time in 2 years when they came to cat sit for us) to a Christmas Magic filled trip to the DFW area to visit The Christmas Capital of Texas (Grapevine). To cute cats. To me winning a Signed copy of Fearless (Taylor's Version) & two Capitol One Taylor Swift sweepstakes (one for Fearless (TV) one for Red (TV)). I had two KimickaPhotoADay Challenges. I maintained a 107 (and counting) day streak on Duolingo. Spent a lot of time on TikTok. Completed Vlogmas (Link In Bio 😉 ). Uploaded a video to YouTube at least once a month (My Monthly Most Listened Artists series). 2021 may have not been the best year overall, but I had a pretty good one, if you ask me. This year, I am grateful that my family and friends are healthy. I’m grateful that I work for myself and have been able to pay my rent and put food on my table. Let’s CTRL-ALT-DELETE 2020 and Start Afresh.

“Learn from yesterday, live for today…..”

2020 was a year like no other. 

It’s been challenging, to say the least for so many folks out there and truly magnified just how unpredictable and unwritten life is.

Some of the most notable words and phrases being thrown around, sum up 2020 to a T, Terrible! Here’s a few of the highlights, deemed most revealing of people’s experiences, thoughts and feels:

From relentless to surreal, lost, exhausting, quarantine, disjointed, nightmare, doom scrolling, broken dreams, surreal, limbo, stifling, ugh!

To phrases like,“I can’t breathe”  and a “television show that never knows when to end.”

But not all was doom and gloom, for transformative, perseverance, self-sacrifice and Black Lives Matter  were also expressed as a glimmer of positivity and hope.

We’ve been on a mission to roll into 2021 on a positive note, whilst also reflecting on a year that sailed away into the shit storm.

The first step toward positive progression, in almost any situation is to be honest. That means, embracing the reality that we had a tough, bumpy, hell of a year with unyielding upheaval and to note the positives that came out of it.

Whether it be, taking a break from the constant rat race or daily routine, spending time with family and friends, having more time for yourself, to personal accomplishments or just catching up on life and actually putting health first! 

The daily search for mini wins has truly brought out inventiveness and resilience, whilst also benefiting from looking at the world through a different lens. Gaining perspective, flipping a negative to a positive or being inspired to write a blues song, could just be your thang!
