saying “you are a burden on society” is just such a weird framing of priorities It’s like saying “wow, think how much better gas mileage your car would get if you weren’t sitting in it” or “think how dry that umbrella would be if you weren’t holding it in between you and the rainstorm”. the things we create? they’re for us. they are meant to carry us. they are meant to protect us. we are meant to hold them up to keep us dry.

Metroidvania where the mobility upgrades distort the world's geometry while technically leaving the player character's physics and behaviour unchanged. For example, when you use the "high jump", it briefly squashes the entire world vertically, granting the effect of being able to reach higher ledges without actually changing the player character's jump arc. The outcome is that each upgrade precisely replicates the effect of some conventional metroidvania mobility upgrade (e.g., high jump, dash, etc.), but in a much more complicated and confusing way. There is absolutely no benefit to this.
