You got any tips for rendering metal? I’m fighting for my life rn

I think the best advice to keep in mind when rendering anything is to keep it as simple as possible. Keeping things clear and simple makes it readable and very nice to look at, dont hyperfocus on small details that overtake the image. Obviously look at a lot of references and keep practicing until it becomes less taxing on your mind to think of which colors go where. For metals, i usually start with a faded/muddy base color, then draw in the major shadows with a more saturated and much darker version of that base (this shadow follows the shape of the metal object). Then i put in the major highlight, which is usually a very bright and more saturated version of the base color, sometimes i shift the color wheel a bit too so it’s not the exact same shade (this highlight follows the shape as well, be mindful of your light source. It’s usually directly next to the shadow). Then i do reflections, which i get the color for by taking the shadow color, shifting the color wheel a bit, and upping the saturation a lil. (This is the light reflection from the light around your object, it’s usually sandwiched inside the dark shadows). Lastly you do rim lights, which are very bright and can honestly be any color you want as long as it defines the edges. This is a crude description of my process, but i try to do more illustrated examples of such things on my patreon if you’re interested

Brainstorming ideas for a thesis film. Visually this is too cyberpunk, I’ve never really liked cyberpunk all that much (not sure why. I think it’s kinda overdone in my head so it’s not like, innovative for me? Idk I loved the cyberpunk Genshin designs but that’s it lol) so I’ll keep drawing but I think the colors on these guys are nice

Thank you! I’m glad you like the art🥰 on procreate the spectra brush is one of my favorites because it’s so grainy and great for layering. It makes a nice textured gradient because it’s got a slight blending mode edge to it too. Makes for some nice color variation when you layer your shading. I also use syrup for hard edges, airbrush, and I have a custom brush I made for sketching primarily, it’s a harsh edged brush with pen pressure and blending edges. I have two versions of it actually, here’s a google drive link with the files for both of them if you wanna try it out (ignore the brush names pls im not very creative)

When I actually take my time with procreate pieces I think the end result is pretty rewarding. Although I remember when I watched the show I was confused as to why V was friendly with the Dino now and then I realized after like my 5th rewatch that it was probably only the red eyed sentinel because it was the only one that seemed to prefer biological blood to oil. I love how no matter how many times I rewatch this show there always seems to be a rather important plot point that I completely missed lol

I made this MD chicken au a while back! I just love chickens and I thought why not just draw some of my favorite characters as chickens because why not and it was pretty fun :) Uzi’s a sebright chicken, N’s a rescued fighting cockerel mutt, J’s a Rhode Island Red, and V’s an Aseel. I had some more stuff planned for this that I haven’t gotten around to yet

Thank you! I’m glad🥹 funny enough that old internet cringe culture is something I wasn’t really an active part of growing up but it’s still so nostalgic to me. It was always present in the background of my childhood but I only got into that side of the internet way after (with the exception of some brony stuff), and it kinda felt like meeting an old friend. It’s why I absolutely love “nerdcore” stuff now (like fnaf and stuff), and murder drones is kinda the perfect embodiment of that for me. It’s a piece of media that’s built on a self awareness of internet culture, it’s like a response to the anime and cringe culture of the 2010s. It’s one of the big reasons why it’s very precious to me as a show and that’s also why I purposely try to make my art of them with all those nostalgic internet memories in mind
