hello deadman wonderland fandom
I just want to issue an apology for the spam of the entire twenty chapter long DW fanfic I wrote back in high school. I decided to create a fanfic archive on Tumblr, and well. It was time to add that particular fic to the archive. Don't worry, it's the only one I've written and also the only one I will ever write. I won't bother y'all again, promise.

TRATM XX: We Risk Our Lives So That You Still Have Yours
Chapter twenty (and the finale) of The Raven and the Mockingbird, a T-rated Deadman Wonderland fanfic from 2013-17. Since this an archive, I am not editing the chapters as they are posted. Follows an OC named Tsumetai and her relationship with canon character, Toto Sakigami.

Tsumetai knew what abandoned silence in Deadman Wonderland sounded like; sheâd found so many forgotten areas of the G Sector she could be considered an expert of the layout. So she knew that something was off as she led Toto towards the exit.
Toto had been given strict orders to remain entirely silent in the duct, and he was actually following it. Heâd even managed to make his breathing nearly inaudible. Their footsteps were as loud as their breathing; she knew what their escape sounded like.
Heavy and shallow breaths muffled by a door werenât part of it.
Turning to Toto, Tsumetai grabbed his wrist and tugged him along as she picked up her speed. She could see the door, in all its inconspicuous glory, ahead. Just a few more feet and sheâd be able rid herself and everyone else of one of the most dangerous beings alive.
They just made it past where the doors lining the walls stopped when guards emerged from the ones further back. Tsumetai jumped -- she hadnât expected them to be so loud about it -- and whirled around. The sight of the guns pointing down at them made her freeze. By her side, she heard Totoâs voice.
âHide behind me,â he whispered. Though he was quiet, she could tell that it wasnât Hagire that had said it. But even then, she couldnât move. Just as they were about to open fire, Toto stepped in front of her and faced her. Wrapping his arms around Tsumetai, he shielded her the best he could. As the bullets lodged into his back, he yelled, âJUST LEAVE HER ALONE! LEAVE US ALONE!â He made no sound to indicate he was in pain, but Tsumetai could feel tears leaking from his eyes. The guards kept fighting until there were no bullets left in their guns, and Totoâs shoulders dropped. The back of his clothes were coated in blood; he was only alive because he was a Deadman, but he was too injured to retaliate.
âToto, itâs...Itâs alright, youâll be fine. I promise Iâll show you the sun,â Tsumetai whispered, pressing her forehead into his shoulder. His entire body was quivering, barely able to support himself. The guards were finally finishing up reloading when quick footsteps came from behind them.
âDonât even think about it!â Sanae yelled, Branch of Sin already out. The guards closest to her didnât even have enough time to turn before sheâd impaled them and watched them collapse. The others all turned, knowing that they had to take her out if they wanted to stop the escape, and Tsumetai felt her body tense up. This was her opportunity. But could she really kill Toto after heâd just saved her?
Slipping out of Totoâs arms, Tsumetai looked up at him. His eyes were clenched shut, mouth set in a grimace. Without her supporting his body, he collapsed to his knees. Kneeling in front of him, she pressed a kiss to his forehead.
âItâs alright,â she muttered, cupping his face with one of her hands gently. The other lifted trailed towards the small razor sheâd embedded in her jacket, were she to ever lose her glove. Pricking her finger tip, she let the blood form her Branch of Sin slowly. Tilting Totoâs chin up, she pressed a kiss to his lips. Something within her ached. When his eyes opened, she forced them to stay on her own. âSee? Thereâs the ocean. And I can see the sun.â The confusion in his eyes almost made her resolve disappear. When his eyes dropped from her face to her hand, she sucked in a breath.
âWhat--â Forcing her eyes closed so she wouldnât cry, Tsumetai shoved the spike into Totoâs chest. The sound of breath rushing from his lungs made her heart crack a bit. The feeling of his body growing limp made it shatter. Breaking the spike off, she looked down at him. Tears that had built up behind her eyelids fell onto his chest. âTsumeâŠâ
âToto, Iâm so sorry, but Hagire was too dangerous to keep around and--â
âTsume, itâs me. Just me. Hagire is gone. I...I donât know how I did it, but I forced him down. Maybe even for good.â Tsumetai made a choked noise, and her entire body shook. âLook, I donât blame you. But if this is the end--â He coughed, and blood came up. âI want you o know that I did care for you, this entire time, and that I still do. Iâll never stop.â Another cough, this one for violent. âHe never let me show it; made me take the backseat for everything. And you deserve better than that. I hope you find somebody again. Somebody better than me. Someone who can freely say--â She could hear the blood in his lungs, the blood climbing up his throat. âI love y--â His eyes, such a vibrant yellow, dulled. Blood dribbled past his lips. The sound of Sanae finishing off the guards went unheard.
âI love you,â she whispered. âI love you, goddammit, I love you and I wish that I didnât have to do this but what was I supposed to do? Let Hagire use you until he found a better body?â Pressing her forehead to his, Tsumetai forced her breathing to even out. Closing his eyes, she kissed him one last time. The metallic taste of his blood didnât bother her.
Sanae approached from behind, slowly and quietly. Sheâd barely used any blood to finish off the guards, and already her Branch of Sin had retreated. âYou did it,â she said, crouching beside Tsumetai. âItâs for the greater good.â
âDoesnât stop it from hurting.â
âI know, kid...God do I know.â
Senji was holding his own against Genkaku fairly well, but he was losing ground. He kept getting pushed in the direction Sanae had ran, and he knew that he wouldnât be able to stop him entirely. Genkaku wouldnât be satisfied until he completed his goal or was killed.
âYou know, this would be so much easier if you werenât trying to protect them. You could make it out of this alive even!â Genkaku snarled. âI could pull some strings to make sure about that.â
âThanks,â Senji spat back, jumping back from Genkaku as he swung at him. âBut no thanks.â Blocking the blade with his Branch of Sin, Senji squared his shoulders and made sure his feet were planted firmly. There was no way Genkaku would tip him over. He was sure that this would buy Sanae more time, but then he felt himself shifting backwards. Genkaku hadnât been meaning to tip him over all along; he was planning on shoving him along until he got to where he wanted to be.
âWhat a shame,â Genkaku tutted. âWhat. A. Shame.â Each word was punctuated with a rather harsh push on Senji, but the last word was also followed by a low punch to Senjiâs stomach. âIf thatâs how it is, I need you to get out of my way.â Pulling his weapon back, Genkaku watched Senji collapse before stepping over him. âIâll finish you later.â
Sanae had helped Tsumetai get the door open -- which they had done by breaking the hinges and kicking it out -- when more guards poured into the hallway. Sanae hissed obscenities under her breath; Totoâs body hadnât been moved, and Tsumetai had already ran back over to him, leaning over his body as if he needed to be protected. Moving to block them, Sanae reopened her wounds and let her Branch of Sin out. As she ducked into the fray to fight, sheâd left something behind. A glob of blood rested where Tsumetaiâs spike had pierced Totoâs chest, forming a flower bud. When it bloomed -- which would take a minute or two -- it would hopefully take out any guards that made their way past her, while also forcing Tsumetai out and blocking off the door.
She was making her way towards the back, most of the guards already lying dead, when she saw Genkaku. Behind him, hobbling a bit but still running, was Senji. The sight of them both made her pause for a moment, and was just enough time for a few more guards to make their way toward Tsumetai.
âWell, well,â Genkaku called, a disgusting smile on his face. âWe meet again.â He was on Sanae in an instant, knocking her back into the wall. Senji yelled profanities and forced himself to run faster.
âSenji, get Tsumetai and get out!â Sanae yelled as she pushed Genkaku off. She was starting to get woozy from the blood loss.
At the sound of her name, Tsumetai looked up. She saw the guards approaching and froze, eyes dropping down to Totoâs body. The blood bud was almost done blooming. She heard Senji attempt to argue with Sanae, but knew he lost when he ran over and grabbed her arm.
âLetâs go,â he said lowly. âSheâll join us.â
âNo, wait!â Tsumetai cried out, trying to grab hold of Totoâs sleeve to drag him with. âI promised to get him--â
âThat promise will get you killed!â Senji yelled, glaring down at her as he pushed her through the doorway. Just as her feet hit the outside ground, the bloom in Totoâs chest exploded. Would looked like rose thorns shot at the guards, but a shockwave of blood shot out of the other side. It forced Senji through the door and covered the space up entirely. Spinning on his heel, he yelled and pounded his fists on the wall. âSanae! SANAE! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING?!â
Genkaku hovers above Sanae, a sick grin on his face. Sheâs coated in blood, almost all of it her own. His weapon sticks out of her chest.
âOh look, you got them out. But do you think theyâll make it out there?â he asked, crouching just above her legs.
âThe public donât know their faces,â Sanae manages. Thereâs blood and saliva in her mouth, and she uses the last of her strength to spit it at his face. âAnd they both know how to hide and never be found.â
âThat so? I guess weâll just have to wait and see.â Shoving the blade further into her chest, Genkaku laughed. âLights out,â he said, watching her eyes dull.
âFuck...You.â
âWhat lovely parting words,â he hissed, wiping the saliva from his face. âBut I would rather not.â
Tsumetai had been sitting silently next to the door since it had been blocked, and Senji finally joined her after tiring of pacing.
âShe should be out by now,â he grumbled, tapping his foot in impatience.
âSenji,â Tsumetai said carefully. âI think she might have died.â Senji stiffened next to her. âI donât think sheâll be joining us.â
âIf sheâs dead, itâs your fault.â He said it without a second thought, refusing to look at her. Tsumetai stared in disbelief, covering her mouth as tears built up. âShe did all that to ensure your safety. Whether you like it or not, youâre responsible.â Hiccuping, Tsumetai felt her cheeks wetting as she started crying again. The sound made him turn to look at her, and he felt guilt almost immediately. Sanae wouldnât have wanted him to make Tsumetai cry.
âYou know I didnât want it to end this way just as much as you did,â she said, voice cracking as she turned away. âAnd that it hurts just as much.â
âLook, I--â
âWe all risked our lives just to kill Hagire. And then, come to find out, I killed Toto. Not just his body, but his conscience. And then immediately after, my best friend -- the only person I had for ages -- dies just so I can get out, not knowing whether or not Iâll make it in this world.â Senji felt his jaw lock up.
âI know. And Iâm sorry, Iâm just--â
âYouâre upset, and understandably so. I know.â Drying her tears, Tsumetai got to her feet. âI guess I should go; they might come after us, and thereâs no reason to give them a head start by sticking around.â As she started walking off, Senji got to his feet.
âHey, wait.â She stopped, but didnât turn to look at him. âWe should stick together. Weâre all weâve got left, right?â
After a long, thoughtful moment, Tsumetai hummed in agreement. âRight.â
Chaplin had been caught up in the riot, looking for Tsumetai the entire time, and eventually stumbled upon Genkaku. He was drenched in blood, bodies of guards surrounding him. He still sat on Sanaeâs legs, but he was staring up at the ceiling with blank eyes.
âWhat the hell?â Chaplin breathed, covering her nose as she took a hesitant step closer. When she recognized Sanaeâs face, she grew furious. âWhat the hell!â Stomping over to Genkaku, she grabbed his collar and brought his face to hers. âWhere is Tsumetai?!â she demanded.
âThis one,â Genkaku said, gesturing to Sanae, âgave her life for the little raven. The crow made it out with her.â
âAnd TotoâŠ?â
âThe Raven killed the Mockingbird.â Something about the way Genkaku said it made Chaplin upset, and she suddenly threw him against the wall. Taken by surprise, Genkaku lost his breath and had a hard time getting up. When he looked up, vision a bit wobbly from hitting his head, he saw Chaplin standing above him, her Branch of Sin out. He wasnât able to even make a sound before he done for, joining the bodies filling the hall.
âIf sheâs got SenjiâŠâ Chaplin said to herself, taking a seat among the carnage, âthen she should be alright.â Another group of guards eventually found their way to where she sat, the riot having been contained. Assuming sheâd done most of the damage, they grabbed her by the arms and dragged her off. She didnât fight as they locked her in solitary; sheâd grown bored of Carnival Corpses ages ago, and without Tsumetai, free reign in G Sector didnât mean much to her. Leaning against the wall, she sighed. âBe safeâŠâ
Senji and Tsumetai had a hard time adjusting to civilian life at first, but once they found jobs and a home, it got a bit easier. Tsumetai worked at a library, quietly stocking the shelves and checking out books every afternoon. Senji, unable to return to the police force, had a harder time finding something he enjoyed. After taking on everything available, he ended as a bartender at the bar just down the street from where him and Tsumetai lived.
People didnât seem to recognize them, and all the scars they had were taken for what they were. So far, no one from Deadman Wonderland had found them.
And it will stay that way, no matter how much they have to fight.

TRATM XIX: Isn't That the Concept of War?
Chapter nineteen of The Raven and the Mockingbird, a T-rated Deadman Wonderland fanfic from 2013-17. Since this an archive, I am not editing the chapters as they are posted. Follows an OC named Tsumetai and her relationship with canon character, Toto Sakigami.

Senji had barely slept at all, running over how heâd ask Scar Chain to, essentially, throw out all of their careful planning in favour of an impromptu jailbreak...That he knew would lead to more casualties than they would agree to.
âItâs a good thing that I can say as little as I wantâŠâ he muttered, pacing the length of his room again and again. Heâd meant to stay in Sanaeâs room, but found himself slipping out after having trouble sleeping.
There were a lot of things weighing on Senjiâs mind. What would happen to Sanae in the riot? How would he make sure that Tsumetai would actually be able to sneak around in the chaos? And could he really let her deal with Toto herself? Were he the man he came to Deadman Wonderland as, he would have no problem doing what needed to be done. His conscience wouldnât be butting in, making him doubtful and -- if heâs to be honest with himself -- somewhat afraid and upset. But then a thought came to the forefront of his mind:
âYouâve wanted that fucker gone for a long time; here is your only chance.â That simple thought, coming from a pit so deep he forgot it existed, had him reaching for the door. However, just as his fingertips came in contact with the knob, it opened. Sanae stood on the other side, arms crossing as she held his gaze with slightly narrowed eyes.
âYou left,â she stated, as if neither of them knew. âI thought you might need some persuading power.â Senji wanted so badly to roll his eyes, but the thought of Sanae being with him made the idea of approaching Scar Chain more bearable.
âI doubt Iâll need it, but you can tag alongâŠIf you think you can handle it.â
Tsumetai found herself at Totoâs side for most of the day, which largely consisted of lying in bed while he hugged her close. This was the first time in a very, very long time heâd been in control of his own body and she was the only comfort he had. When a knock came at their door and she told him she had to leave, he felt the slight sting of tears in the backs of his eyes. He forced them all down, though, and just nodded. He could see she was happy to be away from him, and that only worsened the empty ache heâd been feeling since regaining control. How could he let her know that he really, truly cared in what little time he had as himself? What could he do when they both had their separate lives? And so, as the door clicked shut and Tsumetai left with Senji and Sanae, he laid back and justâŠSlept. He just hoped that he would wake up and still be himself.
âThey agreed. Quite quickly, actually.â Sanae said it so suddenly that Tsumetai had to take a moment just to figure out what she was referring to. âWe have a full day to figure the rest out.â
âOne of them suggested employing the help of some Undertakers to help get rid of Toto,â Senji added as the trio stopped at Totoâs little âoffice.â They crowded in, still speaking in hushed voices. âBut thatâs a bit problematic.â
âWhy?â A strong twinge of guilt was coiling in the bottom of Tsumetaiâs stomach as she let the reality of the plan sink in. Toto seemed so genuine at the moment; so real it was hard to connect him to the violent, creepy Deadman she was so accustomed to.
âI promised Genkaku he could fight me were we to ever meet face-to-face again. The riot raises the probability of that happening already. To make sure they get involved does it further,â Sanae explained. âBut it also puts you in danger; the Undertakers arenât always the most trustworthy. They might agree to kill Toto, but they could kill you in the process. Or they could alert guards that would kill you both, with no warning. If I didnât have what little leverage I do, I would advise against it entirely.â
âI...I want the Undertakers involved. Not to get rid of Toto, but to make sure that the riot lasts of long as possible.â Sanae nodded grimly, but Senjiâs jaw went slack.
âYouâll put that many lives at stake?â
âWeâre all criminals, in one way or another. Weâre all bound to die in these walls, in one way or another. But Toto is the worst of us; Hagire is the worst of us. If some people have to die to make sure that heâs gone...Well, isnât that the entire concept of war?â Looking up at Senji from where she was perched, Tsumetai caught the dejected nod he gave in answer. âIâll let the Undertakers to you two; Iâm using Sanae and Iâs old escape route. All I have to do is convince Toto.â Stepping towards the door, she glanced over her shoulder at the two.
âGood luck kiddo,â Sanae said quietly. There wasnât much else she could think to say; she knew for a fact that after tomorrow, sheâd never see Tsumetai again. âLetâs make sure this isnât all wasted.â With a nod, Tsumetai slipped out of the small room and went to work on Toto.
When Sanae and Senji had arrived at Genkakuâs doorstep unannounced, he arched an eyebrow. They spared little time in getting the information to him.
âIt would seem that Scar Chain is attempting a riot tomorrow; most likely to overpower the guards and break out. The Undertakers may want to be present to make sure that it canât get out of hand,â Sanae said, meeting the eyes that watched her so curiously.
âAnd will you be present?â he drawled, leaning against the doorframe.
âOf course. I havenât forgotten my promise; if we run into each other, I will honour it.â
âThen consider the Undertakers there.â With a duck of his head, he waved them off and slammed the door behind him carelessly. Flopping down in a seat, he stared up at the ceiling and grinned to himself. âWhen opportunity knocks...You answer.â
Toto had woken up to the sound of the door, and cracked an eye open. For a moment, he thought that he was observing from behind Hagire, but when he wanted to sit up to meet Tsumetai, he did. She sat beside him delicately, an odd expression on her face as she reached over and gripped his forearm loosely.
âTomorrowâs the day we can get out of this place. Thereâs going to be a riot, and I know a route that will be abandoned to handle the chaos. We can go see the sun and ocean again,â she said quietly. His eyes widening, he felt the prickle of tears all the way into his throat. Clamping a hand over his mouth, he rested his head on her shoulder.
âAfter all this time,â he mumbled, though it was muffled by his hand. âFinally, after all of this time...And youâll stay with me?â Desperately gripping her shoulder, he lifted his head and met her misty eyes with his own watery ones.
âOf course.â The two words were enough to send him over the edge, and for what was most likely the first time since Hagire had taken his body, Toto cried. He sobbed and hiccupped, clutching at Tsumetai to anchor himself. He gained control of himself for a few short days and was being granted the one wish he had; he could catch one last look of the outside world before Hagire forced himself back to the forefront. Soothing hands smoothed his unruly hair, and a quiet voice shushed him for comfort. It was all too much, and before Toto could consider what he was about to say, he had whispered, âI love you.â The weight of it settled in Tsumetai uncomfortably. It was the first time that it wasnât being used to manipulate her, and she could tell. The guilt from before came back, and she found herself tearing up as well. As her silent tears streamed down, Toto lifted his head and pressed their lips together. He couldnât risk wasting the time he had left in control.
Sanae, after leaving Genkaku, had forced Senji off somewhere. She had more to handle than just getting âhelp.â She knew the way Tsumetai was taking, and knew that she would have to make sure no guards went after her. But if Genkaku caught up to her, she wouldnât be able to. She had to keep her wits in the riot, stay out of Genkakuâs sight, and keep watch of Tsumetaiâs route all at once. She was sure she could do it.
But how successful would she be?
Tsumetai woke up when Sanae knocked on the door. Her and Senji had promised to wake her up just before the riot would begin so she would have time. Turning on her side, she shook Toto lightly. She could tell just by the way that he opened his eyes that Hagire was in control again.
âItâs time already?â he asked, any sign of fatigue absent from his voice, replaced by a lilt and amusement. She forced down a shiver of disgust and nodded. Climbing out of bed, she tugged her glove on but didnât change.
âWe have to get moving as quick as possible.â
âThen letâs get moving.â With a close-eyed smile, Toto stepped past her and opened the door. âLead the way.â Without meeting his eyes -- they were too sharp and searching for comfort -- she stepped into the hallway cautiously. Her hall would, thankfully, be spared from the rioting for the most part, but Deadmen would still come rushing through initially.
âWeâve got to get to the vent above the hall weâll be following. Once the rioting gets bad, the guards will leave it abandoned. Thatâs when we go.â
âSome sneaking. Fun.â
âUh, sure.â With practiced footsteps, Tsumetai ran to the end of the hallway and reached for the grate on the air vent. It came out easily, and she urged Toto in first. She would have to boost him up into the actual duct system.
With the grate secured, she clambered up after him and paused. The distant sound of shouts came from somewhere, and she turned to face their destination.
âAlright, follow me.â
âAye aye.â Shuffling in front of him, she crawled quietly through the system. She hadnât been in this area for a while, so she was going a bit slower than usual. The sounds of the riot were picking up quickly, as more and more Deadmen started taking part. When she found where they would be dropping down, she saw one of the guards going to see what all the noise was about. The guard hollered something back, which drew the others away.
Counting their footsteps as they retreated, Tsumetai carefully began lifting the grate. By the time it was moved out of the way, there wasnât a single being around. Still, she peered out to check. There was no one, so she jumped down. With a bit of encouragement, she got Toto to jump down as well without her catching him.
Sanae and Senji had side-by-side when the riot began, but she had moved away from him gradually as it progressed. He had picked up on it, following behind at an even slower pace. Sanae searched for Genkaku every time she looked over the mass of bodies, keeping to the back and staying ducked down. Down the hallway that connected to where Tsumetai and Toto were came all of the guards, and she let out a breath. But then her worst fear became realized: Genkaku, who she hadnât caught a glimpse of until then, began heading down it. With a shout, Sanae pushed her way through the throng of Deadmen and raced after him. The guards were too preoccupied to stop her, but her voice had gotten Senjiâs attention. He followed after her, catching up as she attacked Genkaku from behind.
Gritting his teeth, Senji cut a line along his forearm and let his Branch of Sin come out. Getting an arm around Sanaeâs midsection, he tugged her away from Genkaku just as he turned to face them.
âGo warn Tsumetai,â Senji shouted as he blocked whatever it was Genkaku was hitting with. Not giving her the option of argument, he pushed her down the hall past Genkaku entirely. âRemember; donât let it be wasted!â

"Chan and En are what?" Senji had sped through his explanation so quickly, most of the information had yet to stick.
"Chan and En are the adopted kids of the original Director of Deadman Wonderland, Hagire Rinichiro."
"Alright, I got that much. But isn't he dead or something? Why are they still guarding his office?"
"That's what we're going to find out," Senji answered. "The guard I blackmailed has agreed to help us get there. How we get into his office is a whole other story."
âThe vent system.â Suddenly sitting up, Tsumetai leaned forward and rested her hands on her knees. âI know how to get into the vents like no one else; we get close, sneak into the vents, and come out in his office.â
âAnd thereâs no way there wouldnât be a vent, because the president wouldnât have an unventilated office! All weâd have to do is get past any security precautions, but I doubt thereâre any, considering itâs lack of usage,â Senji said. âAlright, get a good day and nightâs worth of rest...Both of you. Donât let Toto wear you out, Tsume. Tomorrow we strike.â Senji made to leave, but waited for Sanae to join him.
âThis isnât an air raid,â Sanae commented, punching Senjiâs arm lightly. The two walked off together, and Tsumetai remained silent. Sighing, she went back to her room. Toto had woken up and watched her entrance with lazy eyes.
âHello you beautiful sight to behold,â he mumbled, smiling at her. Pushing himself up, he held out one arm for a hug. Shaking her head, Tsumetai climbed back onto the bed and pulled Toto into a loose hug. âHey now.â Hooking his arm around her waist, he tightened the hug and buried his face into her shoulder. âI wanna laze around today.â
âI was thinking the same thing.â Smiling against the fabric of her shirt, Toto sighed. Flopping back down onto the bed, he stared up at the ceiling. âWhy donât we read something?â
âMmm...You have a copy of Norwegian Forest, right?â
âOf course. I have most of Haruki Murakamiâs older books.â Getting up, Tsumetai went off and began to dig through a small pile of novels. Sitting back, she held up two books. âI found 1Q84 as well. Which would you prefer?â
âHnnnâŠ.1Q84 is newer, but Norwegian Forest is a classic...You choose, Tsume.â Rolling her eyes, Tsumetai looked between the two books before setting Norwegian Forest to the side. Coming back, she leaned against the wall and cracked the book open. âOoh, reading to me?â Nodding, Tsumetai began.
They sat around Tsumetaiâs room the entire day, reading Haruki Murakami and not doing much else. They got to bed early, and slept the entire night. When Senji and Sanae came to wake her up the next morning, they found her sat outside the door.
Looking up when she heard their approaching footsteps, she got to her feet quickly. âLetâs just get going; Totoâs still asleep, so I can get away without his curiosity getting the better of him...Especially him trailing after us in suspicion.â The two nodded, and they went off.
The guards Senji had blackmailed were waiting near the entrance of the G Ward. Without speaking, they began to leading the others through the halls. They were pretending to drag them to holding cells, and the other guards -- who had never been in the G Ward -- didnât recognize them as Deadmen.
The hallways were bright and sterile the further they got into the core of Deadman Wonderland. Time passed, and nothing new appeared, until a somewhat ornate door came into view. The guards stopped, awaiting what the three Deadmen would do. Tsumetai looked around, and caught sight of a vent grate after a moment.
âThere!â Slipping her wrists out of the guardâs hold, she went over to it and stood on her tiptoes. She could barely reach the edge. âSomeone boost me up.â Senji tugged his hands away and went over, kneeling and threading his fingers together. Stepping into his hand, Tsumetai was lifted up and tugged the grate covering off. Setting it to the side of the vent, she started pulling herself up into it. Senji helped push her in, and she slipped into the vent entirely. It took a minute or two to get herself turned around, but held her hands out.
âSanae first,â Senji said. They quickly repeated the process, and then Sanae and Tsumetai had their arms extended to get Senji into the vent as well. It took the help of the guards to boost him enough so that he made it, but they all fit into the vent with barely any breathing room. Waving the guards off, Senji placed the grate back in place. Tsumetai led the way, peering down through the vent slats into the rooms they passed over.
âThis one,â she breathed, catching sight of the fanciest room she had ever seen. Two figures were stood in front of a large, decorative desk. Both of them had stark white hair, and seemed distracted. Holding a hand up, she gestured for the other two to remain silent. Curling her other fingers under the edge of the grate, she urged it out of its setting. It was surprisingly quiet, and even when she set it down, it barely made a clatter.
Shifting her legs around, she dropped them down the space and fell into the room. The two figures started a bit, eyes widening but faces remaining expressionless. âWho are you?â the one with the shorter hair asked.
âAnd why are you here?â the other asked. Tsumetai opened her mouth to answer, but Senji and Sanae dropped down on either side of her and she stumbled. Before she could attempt to answer them again, both lifted their arms. In their hands were swords, which pointed at Tsumetai.
âWait, wait!â she stuttered. The two tilted their heads, and didnât move any more than that.
âYouâre Chan and En, arenât you?â Senji asked. The twinsâ eyes grew big again, and their arms dropped. Taking a step back, they turned to look at him. âHagire Rinichiroâs children?â
âHow would you know?â
âMy name is Senji; these two are Tsumetai and Sanae. Now you know our names, so why donât you give us yours?â
âMy name is Chan; she is En,â the male twinâs said, grip on his sword tightening. âWhy are you here?â
âThereâs some mysteries we would like some answers to. We may have answers to questions you have in response,â Sanae said. Tsumetai looked between her and Senji, unable to find her voice and remaining silent much to her own irritation.
âThat depends. You know things about Scar Chain?â En asked. The monotonous tone of both the twinsâ voices was unnerving
âSome things, yes. Do we have a deal?â The twins looked to each other for quite some time, before turning to regard the others and nodding.
âTell us what you know of Scar Chainâs plans, and we will answer a few questions,â they said in unison.
âIs Hagire Rinichiro still alive? And if so, how?â The twins seemed to tense up.
âThis will take some timeâŠâ Tsumetai thought to herself.
Hours later, they finally left the office. After getting back to the safety of Sanaeâs room, the three sat in silence.
âI cannot believe it,â she muttered to herself. Senji nodded, and the two looked at Tsumetai. She was the most shaken by the new information; she couldnât quite process it all just yet. âAnd we fed them mostly lies, too. But thereâs no way those two distracted, idle kids lied to us. They seemed rather slow.â
âThe guards did say the two had some brain damage or something,â Senji commented absentmindedly. âHey, Tsume.â With wide, scared eyes, Tsumetai looked up at him. âWhat are you going to do?â
âHe needs to die. If this is all true, then Totoâs barely been Toto this entire time. Hagireâs just been trying to cause mass destruction, and using me and everyone else as a way to make people not suspect him.â Shaking her head, she clenched her hands into fists and pressed them into the tops of her thighs. The emotions became too much and she got to her feet, and suddenly punched the wall. âGoddammit, he has to die!â
âTsume, please-â
âScar Chain could easily start a riot within the next few days; Hagire would take advantage of it as Toto. And we could kill him. Are you in or not?â Tsumetai asked, voice low and scratchy. Her eyes were steely, sending shivers down both Senji and Sanaeâs spines. They had never seen her so threatening.
âIâm not so sure if this is the best idea.â
âI ASKED ARE YOU IN OR NOT?â The anger was quickly cracking, revealing sadness and betrayal underneath. Shaking, she collapsed against the wall and sank to her knees. âSanae, you were right, Iâm so sorry, I shouldâve seen it, I justâŠâ
Getting up, Sanae went and pulled her into a comforting embrace. âItâs okay, itâs okay. Barely anyone knew; thereâs no need to beat yourself up for it.â Looking up at Senji, she grimaced. âBut you have to go back to him for now.â Tsumetai nodded dejectedly into Sanaeâs shoulder, and pushed herself to her feet.
âI know, I just...I donât know if I can take this for very long.â
âIâll talk with Scar Chain,â Senji offered. Tsumetai smiled in thanks, but it was forced and fake. âGo get some sleep, if you can.â
Tsumetai returned to her room and found Toto sitting up, fidgeting. He got to his feet and grabbed her shoulders, worry in his eyes.
âWhere have you been?â he asked, voice actually sounding genuine. But Tsumetai couldnât let herself believe anything was sincere from him.
âI was with Sanae and Senji.â Tugging him towards the bed, she collapsed onto it and sighed. âAnd now I just want some sleep.â Nodding, Toto lied down next to her. Forcing the tension from her muscles, she let him pull her body into his. It took forever for her to actually fall asleep.

It took hours for Toto to fall asleep. In his head, the same two thoughts kept looping over and over and over.
'Why are you suddenly fighting back?' and 'Why is it just now I'm trying?' His arms were loosely wrapped around Tsumetai's waist; his face pressed into the back of her neck. He hoped he wouldn't wake her. Releasing a small sigh, Toto cracked his eyes open. The room was pitch black; so was the hall outside, seeing as no light peeked under the door. Carefully and cautiously, he released Tsumetai from his limp grasp. Pausing to see if she'd woken up, Toto held his breath. When Tsumetai remained asleep, he slid off the bed and very slowly stood up. Once he was on his feet, he took a moment to see if she had woken up. Yet again, she hadn't. Making sure to walk on the balls of his feet, Toto made his way for the door. When he reached it, he opted for the quick route and yanked it open, slid out, and quickly pulled it closed behind him. He heard no rustling in the room on the other side, so he finally let his breath back out.
"What are you doing?" He knew that voice; he knew that voice well. Feeling his face scrunch up into a sneer, Toto turned to face his addressor. "What's with the face?"
"Oh, nothing." Forcing the sneer into a smile, he raised an eyebrow. "What are you doing out so late anyway, Nightingale?"
"Probably the same as you," Sanae answered. Her voice was soft; she knew Tsumetai must still be asleep. Walking over, she felt her eyebrows furrow at the odd expression Toto wore. "You ever going to answer my question?"
"I can't sleep," he answered bluntly. Turning off in the opposite direction, he began to walk away, gesturing for her to follow. "Some things have been on my mind and I can't seem to get them off."
"You want me to help you?" Toto's curly hair bounced cutely as he nodded.
"Seeing as the thoughts pertain to Tsumetai, it would only be fitting that you help me, right?" There was something about the way he said that that put Sanae on edge.
"Right, of course." Following behind him at a slight distance, she watched the way he walked. Toto's arms swung around lazily, he steps large and lazy. He definitely looked tired; his shoulders were sagging and he kept yawning. After a few uncomfortable minutes of silence, he stopped dead in his tracks and spun to face a door.
"We'll talk in here," he stated, mind clearly set. With a slight push, the door swung open and revealed an old storage closet. It was larger than most, with a bench on one side and a chair on the other.
"It seems you're here often," Sanae remarked as Toto took a step in. That peculiar smile was sent her way again as he fell onto the chair. Following reluctantly, Sanae shut the door behind her and took a seat on the bench. It was yet again pitch black.
"Those emergency lights in the hallway are a blessing, aren't they?" Toto said from the inky darkness. The sound of awkward shuffling could be heard until metal hit metal. "Thankfully, I've got this little lamp here." Yanking the chain down, the room was illuminated just enough to see the other occupant. "Now, about those thoughts..."
Senji had finally been able to go back to his room, but all the time he'd spent blackmailing that guard had been worth it. He'd learned much more than he'd been meaning to. As he walked leisurely in his room's direction, he couldn't help but mull over the new information.
'I still can't believe any of this is true...' A groan passing his lips, he kept on walking, until he saw light in front of him. It was dim, and very dull, but he could still see it. It came from under a door. 'Isn't that just an abandoned storage room?' Quietly, Senji walked up to the door and listened. Inside, he heard two unmistakable voices.
"You can't honestly be serious," came a response from Sanae. Whatever Toto had just said, she clearly wasn't buying. "You're trying to tell me that 90% of the time you're the original director of Deadman Wonderland? Bullshit."
"Oh, c'mon Sanae. At least give the possibility a chance. You've barely even thought it over; how can you just write it off?" was Toto's reply. His smirk could be heard through his words.
"Believe it or not, I'm not an idiot." Toto chuckled slightly.
"Sometimes, that may not be the case."
"Oh you motherfucker." Senji sensed what would happen before anything even could happen, and he immediately slammed the door open. One foot set on the ground, Sanae was in a stance she could easily pounce from. Toto was sprawled languidly on a small arm chair, an unnerving grin on his face. "Senji, what are you doing here?"
"Stopping you from being an idiot!" At a loss for words, Sanae fell back onto the bench and stared at him. "Do you realize what you almost did? You almost took on the strongest Deadman over a stupid joke!"
"Well look at you! Aren't you all worked up Crow," Toto commented, a giggle accompanying his words. "Never thought I'd see the day you two truly butt heads, but here it is!"
"Shut it you sadistic fuck," Senji growled, sending a piercing glare towards him. A louder, longer laugh came in response.
"You shouldn't speak to the Director like that, now should you?" Hopping to his feet, Toto pranced out the door. "Don't forget to shut off the light!" Soon, the sounds of his skipping footsteps disappeared and Senji was left with Sanae.
"Oh god..." Senji muttered. "The guard wasn't lying..."
"What?" Sanae had stood again and was about to pull the lamp's chain. "Never mind...We both need some sleep after...That." Turning the light off, she grabbed Senji's arm and pulled him into the hallway.
"If what I think is going on is actually happening...I think Tsumetai's in danger," he said out of the blue.
"She already was."
When Tsumetai woke up, she found Toto sprawled on his stomach next to her. Muffled snores escaped him as he continued to sleep, and she couldn't help but smile.
'It's times like this that I wish lasted,' she thought sullenly. 'But who knows if they ever will.' Sliding out of bed, she went on a quick search for something to change in to. Just as she'd pulled on her shoes, there was a knock at her door. Hopping towards it on one foot, she finished tying the laces before turning the knob and opening it. "Hey Sanae, why the-"
"C'mon," Sanae interrupted, grabbing Tsumetai's arm and pulling her out of the room. Making sure the door was shut, she pulled her towards were Senji was waiting. "We've got a lot to tell you, and not a lot of time to do it. Apparently, Scar Chain's been getting a little fidgety and is gonna try something today."
"What?!"
"I know. That's why we need to hurry." The look of urgency on Sanae's face spoke volumes to Tsumetai, so she followed quickly. When Senji came into sight, their pace quickened even more. Within seconds they were in front of him and sat down.
"Alright...Are you ready?" Tsumetai nodded. "I have to warn you right now: you may not like what you hear."
"I'm used to that by now."

TRATM XVI: A Not So Successful Question & Answer

Absolutely no one in G Ward had even heard of a Chan or En. Not a single soul. So that left two options: pester some guards, or go back to Genkaku for more answers. With no guarantee that Genkaku would help them again, the ragtag group of sleuths settled for the unsavory first option. They quickly agreed that Tsumetai wasn't allowed to go it alone, so her and Sanae teamed up. Splitting from Senji, they haunted the areas guards patrolled heavily. When they spotted one taking a break, Tsumetai tensed.
Sensing her fear, Sanae glanced over and whispered, "Are you alright?" Tsumetai took a shaky breath and shook her shoulders loose. When she nodded, Sanae's lips thinned to a line. "Let's wait a few seconds to make sure."
"Agreed," Tsumetai breathed, rubbing at her muscles. Taking deep breaths, she pushed her fear down and stood straight. "Alright, let's go." A small smile emerging from the thin line of her lips, Sanae took a step out from behind the corner and began to walk towards the guard. Tsumetai was right beside her, standing tall with hard eyes. When they reached the guard's side, they gave the two a quick glance with a bored expression.
"Anything you two need?" they asked, clearly annoyed with being bothered on such a slow day.
"Actually, yes," Sanae answered. The guard's eyes widened just slightly, somewhat taken aback by the blunt response. "We need information."
"Now why would I-"
"We have something that may be of help to you," Tsumetai interrupted. "You might even find that your boss will be so appreciative of the information that you get a promotion."
"Fine, I'll listen. Don't expect much though," the guard responded. Tsumetai smiled and nodded.
"We need to know about to twins by the names of Chan and En," she said. The guard tensed slightly. "Apparently they worked directly for the old director of Deadman Wonderland."
"Where can we find them?" The guard's eyes narrowed just slightly once the initial shock had passed.
"How do you know about those two? Aren't you just regular Deadmen?" they asked cautiously.
"Yeah, we are," Sanae answered with a slight smirk. "But someone tipped us off about those two, and now we're curious."
"I'll tell you what little I know, but it'll cost you more than what you offered."
"What else is there to know?" Tsumetai asked, eyebrows furrowing as she stared the guard down.
"The name of the person who tipped you off."
Somewhere near the Carnival Corpse elevators, Senji was using a different method for answers. Rather than the calm, peaceful negotiation that Sanae and Tsumetai were using, he was quite simply beating the answers out of the guard. The poor guy must be new; he could barely even defend himself.
"Who are they?" Senji asked yet again, fist coming back for another punch to the guard's stomach.
"I don't know anything else!" the guard exclaimed in between gasps. "I'm too new to know anything of importance." The man was coughing violently now, so Senji laid off. With a heavy sigh, he leaned back against the wall and tilted his head back.
"Who would know?" he asked quietly. He wasn't expecting an actual answer, so when the guard responded, he was quite surprised.
"The guards by the entrance." There was a pause as the guard had another coughing fit. "They've worked here the longest, or so I've been told."
"Do you know anything about them?"
"Why?" Another coughing fit, but this time, it was short. "Planning on blackmailing them?"
"Maybe...Beating the shit out of someone takes a lot out of you, y'know?"
"No, I don't." A bitter laugh. "I do know one thing...The woman with the horribly dyed hair has a thing for one of the Deadmen here."
"Do you know which one?"
"Not a clue...But I've been overhearing some pretty incriminating things about her."
"Oh really?" Senji finally looked at the guard, eyebrows near his hairline. What could possibly be incriminating for a guard in G Ward?
"Yeah...Apparently she's helping Scar Chain."
"Well then...Thanks for the information. I'm off." And with that, he started walking away, leaving the guards with multiple bruises and possibly some broken bones.
"What about my injuries?"
"Go see Tsumetai about them; she'll probably patch you up!" Senji yelled over his shoulder.
"That guard was a waste of fucking time," Sanae growled as she dragged Tsumetai away. Behind them lay the guard, who -- as it turned out -- knew nothing about the twins other than what the two Deadmen already knew.
"Did you really have to break both of their legs?" Tsumetai asked as she stumbled along behind a very upset Sanae.
"We almost gave away valuable information for absolutely nothing," was the answer. "Of course I had to break their legs." After walking in silence for a few minutes, Sanae dropped Tsumetai's wrist and her pace slowed.
"You better now?" Tsumetai asked carefully. Sanae nodded, heaving a sigh.
"Hopefully Senji is having better luck than we did," she muttered. "Anyway, it's nearing lights out already. You should probably head back to wherever it is you've been sleeping lately." Giving a forced smile, Sanae moved to go to her room.
"Hey, Sanae," Tsumetai said, successfully stopping her best friend. "Thanks for helping me."
"It's nothing."
"No, it's not. You could get in trouble for this; you're life is in even more danger now."
"What kind of best friend wouldn't help in this situation though?" Glancing over her shoulder, Sanae gave a real smile. "Go get some sleep. Tomorrow, we'll convene with Senji and see if he found anything. Sound good?"
"Yeah." With a happy smile, Tsumetai meandered towards her room. Unsure of whether she would find Toto waiting for her, she braced herself for the worst.
Lying around lazily in Tsumetai's room was Toto. She had been gone all day, and he'd been forced to entertain himself. Needless to say, he wasn't in the best mood. When he heard the doorknob to the room turning, he shot up and stared it down. When Tsumetai walked in, he couldn't help the glare that formed.
"Where have you been? I've been worried sick!" he exclaimed. Hopping to his feet, he stalked towards her as she closed the door. When she faced him, he stopped mid stride. She looked utterly exhausted. "Doll, why do you look so tired?" All the anger vanished. It was at that moment the real Toto Sakigami had control over himself. "C'mere." Without a second thought, he lifted her up and carried her to bed. Lying down with her still in his arms, he kissed her forehead. 'This may not last long, but hopefully it will be long enough...'

Without his usual prance, Toto made his way down the hall. He was very strangely full of a sadness that had an obvious source: Tsumetai.
'It doesn't make any sense, this sorrow...' Heaving a heavy sigh, he continued onward, lacking energy. When he arrived at his stopping point, he found a familiar face. "Senji!" For a moment, Toto regained his energy, but it quickly passed. "What are you doing here?"
"What does it look like?" Senji growled, punching a hole into the wall. Casting the wall a look, Toto spotted the riddled holes.
"What's gotten you so irritated?" Dropping his fists to his sides, Senji chanced a glance at Toto, before falling to the floor to sit.
"Our last Carnival." With renewed interest, Toto joined the man on the ground. Before another question could form on his lips, Senji continue on. "Why did you attack her?"
"Tsumetai?" The look he got was scathing. "Because she's my angel, and I have to protect her."
"That doesn't make any sense!"
"How else would she get stronger, Senji? I can't always be there to keep her safe. If I'm the strongest here, the only way I can fully protect her is to bring her to my level. And the only way to do that is to challenge her until she can handle it."
"Why is it so important to protect her, though?"
"Why do you wish to protect Sanae? Because you love her?" Senji nodded. "It's the same for me. There's something about her that I love, and because of that I grew to love her as well. Everyone calls her my toy; my doll; my play thing. But really? She's more than that."
"You never have made any sense, have you?" Getting to his feet, Senji looked back down at Toto one more time. "Don't do anything stupid to her; Sanae will be after, but so will I." With his threat issued, Senji stomped out of the room.
'I knew that kid was a nonsensical mess, but not this badly,' Senji thought as he made his way through the halls. 'Tries for her life and then says it was in the name of protecting her? I highly doubt it.' Without even thinking, Senji found himself at Sanae's door. With his thoughts to loud in his head to focus, he knocked on the door, unaware of the conversation going on inside.
"Who is it?" Sanae asked, sharing a worried glance with Tsumetai.
"Who else?" Senji snapped just a little too harshly. Her eyes asking the question, Tsumetai nodded in answer.
"Come in." Hand gripping the door handle much too tightly, Senji turned the knob and stepped in. Noticing Tsumetai, he nodded acknowledgement. "What seems to be the problem?"
"Her boyfriend," Senji started, jutting a thumb in Tsumetai's direction, "makes no sense, and it's starting to get on my nerves." Closing and locking the door behind him, Senji fell into the empty half of Sanae's bed.
"What's new? He's always been that way."
"But not like this. You know how much the Carnival has been eating away at me, right? So I asked him why he did it."
"And his answer?" Tsumetai pressed.
"He wants to protect you. If I'm making sense of his words right, he wants to help you get to his level so that when he's not around, you're still alright...I guess to his deluded mind, he'd still be protecting you if he was the one who gave you that strength." The air in the room thinned; breaths hitched. Sharing another conspiratorial glance, Sanae and Tsumetai quickly made their decision.
"Do you want to know why he's like that?" Tsumetai asked carefully. She was walking on very thin ice; she couldn't let anything slip before his interest was confirmed.
"Out of everyone here, he's probably the one I want to understand most...Just for the sake of getting rid of the curiosity."
"Then help us," Sanae said quietly. Sitting up, Senji gave her a look of confusion. "We've been trying to figure out what's going on as well, and we have a lead."
"Well, what is it?"
"Two twins named Chan and En. They worked for the old director, but they're still on the staff."
"We're going to find them and see if they know anything about Toto," Tsumetai continued. "But there's one problem."
"We'll most likely have to do a trade off of information."
"What would you be giving them in return?" There was a look in Senji's eye that was peculiar for him; he almost looked scared.
"Plans."
"Escape plans?!"
"I know it's risky, but it's all we've got."
"Well, that might not be true. It could be a long shot, but I might have something better."
"Like what?"
"Something about Ganta, and the Wretched Egg."
Stumbling down the hallway to her room, Tsumetai attempted to nurse her returning migraine. So much information in a such a short time hadn't been the best idea, but at least they had a plan now.
'It's comforting having both Sanae and Senji helping...' she thought tiredly as she reached her door, fingers gripping the door knob loosely. 'Maybe we'll actually find something useful.' Turning the handle, she shakily opened the door. A bright light burst out. Quickly covering her eyes, she groaned in pain.
"Sorry doll!" a sympathetic voice called. Fingers wrapped around her wrists slowly, gently moving her hands so her blue eyes met gold ones. "I didn't know if you would be back." With a soft smile, Toto covered Tsumetai's eyes back up so he could dim the light. Once it was done, he led her in and kicked the door shut. "Now that you can see, take a look at what I made you!" Dropping her hands, Tsumetai's eyes found a small picture frame sitting on her nightstand. Stepping up to it, she lifted it to see a rough sketch of her and Toto cuddled up together. "Do you like it?"
"Yeah...I do." Setting it back down, she turned to find him right behind her. "Thank you." Wrapping her arms around his neck, she buried her face in his shoulder. Smiling contently, Toto lifted her hips so she was fully clinging to him.
"Anything for my darling..." he whispered. Though the gentle and caring actions weren't making sense, Tsumetai somehow wasn't alarmed. "My precious baby doll." Pressing a kiss to her neck, Toto set Tsumetai onto her bed and lied down next to her, clinging himself to her this time. "Promise me something, would you?"
"Of course."
"That no matter what, you'll love me...And that you'll get me out of here if you leave."
"I thought that was a given."
"Oh, did you? I wish you would've let me in on it...When it comes to you, I'm always so insecure..." Petting his hair, Tsumetai pressed a kiss to the top of his head.
"There's no reason to be...I love you." Toto quickly fell asleep, head rested on her chest. 'But the thing is, I don't know if I want to or not.'

TRATM XIV: A Suggestion That Sounds Surreal
Chapter fourteen of The Raven and the Mockingbird, a T-rated Deadman Wonderland fanfic from 2013-17. Since this an archive, I am not editing the chapters as they are posted. Follows an OC named Tsumetai and her relationship with canon character, Toto Sakigami.

Finding someone as reclusive as Tsumetai is -- as it probably sounds -- is somewhat difficult. After all, she's had her entire life to learn how to hide properly. The only way to make it any easier is to be her best friend of all time, and thankfully for Sanae, that's what she is. So when she's not locked up in her room, not with Toto, and not in her other usual haunts, there's one place left to check. With the most defeated sigh, Sanae resigned to taking a look. This mystery place is an unused air vent in a random corner of the G Ward. If it weren't for all the things that can be heard in that air vent, it would be a fairly pleasant place to be...If cramped metal spaces are pleasant to you.
The most unpleasant part of the entire thing is getting to it. Some of the most reckless and heinous Deadmen have cells near the air shaft. Sneaking past them isn't necessarily difficult usually, but if you catch them on a bad day, they'll yell harassing comments and hurl insults your way until you're long gone. In resignation, Sanae made her way for the vent.
'Maybe my luck will be on my side and all of the Deadmen there will be asleep or something!' she hoped, trudging slowly towards her destination. When she began to hear their voices, she knew her luck had run dry. 'Figures. I can't ever catch a break when I need it most, can I?' Changing her steps to light, noiseless ones, Sanae crept up before stopping and stooping to the ground. Surveying them, she saw that they were currently preoccupied with something. 'What could possibly hold their interest that intensely?'
"After all this time, we finally managed to catch you!" the tallest of the bunch -- a woman with a shaved head -- sneered. "Do you know how long we've been waiting for this day?"
'Who?' Daring to get closer, Sanae craned her neck as far as she could, hoping to get a glimpse.
"You've made quite a name for yourself," added a fat man. "But that's to be expected from Mockingbird's play thing."
'Tsumetai?!' Without a single thought for her own safety, Sanae jumped to her feet and rushed over, pushing people out of the way. When she found herself at the front, she was faced with a sight that was...Sickening. Hunched over on the floor sat Tsumetai, hair ratty and lip bloody. Her jacket was torn in a few places, and the glove with the needle points had been taken. "What's going on here?!" Sanae demanded, turning to face the Deadmen.
"This little bird has been trespassing on our territory ever since she got here, and we've finally caught her so we could teach her a lesson!" the woman with the shaved head answered, a smirk growing on her face.
"So you take away her only means of self-defense?" For a moment, the tall woman looked confused, before realization dawned on her.
"Mockingbird has taking such a liking to the little Raven, she should be able to defend herself without it," the fat man remarked. Casting the man a sidelong glare, Sanae reeled back and punched him directly in his jaw. A grotesque crunch resounded from the hit as he fell, immediately reaching for his face and clutching his now broken jaw.
"Unless you all want broken bones, or broken bodies for some of you, I suggest you allow me to take her away from here without resistance," Sanae snarled. Nightingale is a terrifying one, but just then, she was at her most ferocious. "Are there any objections?"
"Of course," the tall woman began. Before another word could come out, Sanae had grabbed her shoulders, bent her forward, and kneed her in the ribs.
"Any more objections?" The rest of the Deadmen were silent. For as reckless as they all were, none would dare test someone as powerful as Sanae. "That's what I thought." Facing her best friend once more, Sanae knelt down and gently helped her up. Putting one arm over her shoulders, she supported nearly all of Tsumetai's weight as she headed back into the thick of G Ward.
Once in the safety of Sanae's room, she laid Tsumetai down on her bed. During the walk, the girl had come to, only to be met with a throbbing lip and growing migraine.
"I'll try and find some pain killers. Take it easy until I come back," Sanae commanded softly. With a weak nod, Tsumetai slowly raised a hand to her lip. The blood had stopped, but the swelling had already begun. With a groan, she felt around the blanket surrounding her. Surely her glove would be there. When her fingertips met nothing new, she began to panic.
"I can't do anything without that glove..." she whispered. "Sanae must have got it back..." Closing her eyes once more, Tsumetai tried to relax. Just as the tension in her had left, the door slammed open and in stomped Toto.
"I can't believe they would try that!" he yelled, unaware of Tsumetai's splitting headache. "None of them were even close to a challenge! They must have gotten you by surprise." Plopping down next to Tsumetai, an incensed Toto set the glove on her stomach. "I at least got you're glove back, though." Attempting to smile through his anger, Toto looked down at her with sad eyes. "I don't understand how they got to you, though. Did they ambush you? Overtake you? What was it?" His voice was a mere whisper as he lied down next to her. "Please just tell me."
"There were too many all at once to fight off. At the start, I held them off well enough, but then they came from behind and...I lost, I guess. They knocked me out, so I have no clue what happened afterwards."
"They couldn't have..." He trailed off, unable to get the word out.
"No. They couldn't have raped me, or done anything of the sort. If they had, my clothes would be have been askew, and more torn than they are now."
With a sigh of relief, he quietly breathed, "Thank god." Gently, he wrapped an arm around her and buried his face in her shoulder. "You wouldn't want to know what I'd do to them if they had."
"I'm sure you're right..." They lied there for a while, until Sanae returned with what were indeed pain killers.
"Alright Toto, you should probably go. She's going to need a lot of rest," she said as she sat on her nightstand. With a crushed sigh, Toto kissed Tsumetai's forehead before getting up.
"Treat her well," he said quietly as he left. With a raised eyebrow, Sanae followed his exit with her eyes, before getting up herself to close the door.
"Okay. First off, getting you those pain killers." Helping Tsumetai sit up, she handed her the small pills and a bottle of water. Once they were gone, Sanae gave her a few moments to gather herself before speaking. "I know who we need to talk to to figure out what's going on with Toto."
"Oh really. Do tell."
"Somewhere in the staff of Deadman Wonderland are two twins named Chan and En. From what I could scrounge up from old records, they worked for the old director of the prison. They're still employed here though, most likely as guards. If we can find them somehow, and get them to talk, we may find what you're looking for."
"But how do you plan to get them to just tell us?"
"We tell them almost all of what we know...We tell them about the escape plans that've been cooked up, but not the one that will be put in action."
"You would risk that?!" Despite the soreness in her muscles, Tsumetai jolted forward to face Sanae directly. "Those plans are close enough to ours that they could easily take the strategy used against them to defeat us."
"If we figure out what makes Toto tick, that might not be the case."
"What are you suggesting, Nightingale?"
"I'm suggesting that you two -- the Raven and the Mockingbird -- are the key to our escape."

Lots of time has passed since the catastrophic tag team Carnival Corpse. A lot of time has passed since Toto tried to kill Tsumetai. So much has passed, it seems immeasurable.
Tsumetai hasn't spoken to anyone, other than Sanae and Chaplin on rare occasions, since the incident. It struck a chord deep within her; a chord she thought she'd broken long ago. Remembering her brother, thinking about how angry he'd be at her if he saw her now, thinking of her mother and the disappointment she'd carry, breaks her. Toto trying to kill her only aids the shattering.
Holding herself together has been the hardest struggle Tsumetai has faced since she was put into Deadman Wonderland. It's funny, really. Memories of loved ones usually help prisoners cope, but for Deadmen, it seems nearly impossible for such a thing to happen. Many Deadmen are alone, with no close family to remember fondly. Others have horrible pasts they wish to regret. For Tsumetai, she often wishes she would've died with her mother and brother. None of this would have happened; Toto wouldn't have betrayed her...She wouldn't have to deal with her brother's memory haunting her every single time she closes her eyes.
'No. Stop it. He's gone; so is Mom. There's nothing that can be done now,' she often tells herself. 'You have Sanae, and Chaplin, hell, even Senji! Toto may have betrayed you, but you always knew something was very, VERY off about him. Maybe it's finally shining through?' Often her thoughts circle back to Toto, and his unexpected attempt at her life. What's wrong with him? What's causing this change? No matter how hard she thinks on it, nothing makes any sense. Perhaps a talk with Sanae is in order.
For the first time in weeks, Tsumetai has socialized on purpose. It was, of course, with her most trusted friend and ally, Sanae.
"I need your help," she'd said suddenly, having appeared behind Sanae quite randomly in the packed cafeteria. Someone had won a lot from their Carnival Corpse and was treating whoever wanted to be treated, it appeared.
"What do you need?" Sanae asked, spinning around. She'd be lying if she said she hadn't been spooked by the suddenness of Tsumetai's appearance, or the scratchiness of her hardly used voice.
"I can't tell you here. It needs to be one-hundred percent private," Tsumetai answered. Standing, Sanae grabbed her water bottle and led her friend back towards her room. After they entered the room, she shut the door and locked it.
"Now will you tell me?"
Taking a deep breath, Tsumetai asked the burning question, "Do you have any idea what's going on with Toto?" Of course this was about Toto; he had to be the only thing on Tsumetai's mind for all those weeks.
"I could probably take a guess or two, but do I actually know? No, I don't. Why?"
"I've been thinking a lot about everything that's happened since him and I got together, and I realized something. Once before did Toto try to kill me, but he hid it by pretending it was his kink. Now that what's happened has happened, I realized it wasn't just a kink. There's something wrong with him, and I can't tell what it is. I was hoping you knew." Sanae shook her head, sitting down to ponder the new information.
"Now that all of this is out on the table, it does shape up to be pretty odd," she agreed after a few moments. "In fact, I thought that was just who he was; to be spontaneously murderous with no provocation. But would that apply to the person he cares for deeply enough to threaten death if I were to hurt them?" The revelation Sanae had just uttered paralyzed Tsumetai for a moment.
"He threatened to kill you if you hurt me?" she whispered. Sanae nodded absentmindedly as she mulled over everything she'd been told, as well as her personal experiences, as Tsumetai's head buzzed with even more questions. 'Why would he threaten to kill her for hurting me if he purposely tried to kill me? Did he want to be the one to hurt me? Or is killing me something he's not doing by his own will, but someone else's?'
"I think there's something deeper going on than we can figure out without doing any digging," Sanae finally said after a long pause from thinking. "I can do all I can to look into this, but you'll have to as well. I can't get the information we need completely on my own."
"I'll do as much as I can as well," she promised. "I just need a place to start."
"If I had one, I'd tell you. My only suggestion is an Undertaker or something...If you can even find one." Nodding, Tsumetai thanked Sanae before leaving, locking the door again behind her. 'I hope we figure out what's going on...For her sake.'
Sanae has never been a fan of the Undertakers, for multiple reasons. The chief reason is because they all seem to have the desire to cut her up; considering that would be there job if it were ordered, though, she can't necessarily blame them.
Today is an exception, though. The Undertakers work directly under Tamaki, the director of Deadman Wonderland - or so she's been led to believe. If anyone were to know information only the tip-top of the corporate chain would know, it would be them...Hopefully.
She's set off to find Azuma Genkaku, the only Undertaker that seems even somewhat capable of keeping his urges under control...And even then, she doubts he's very trustworthy. However, her decision has been made, and considering she's already snuck her way to his quarters, there's not really any going back. Taking the deepest breath she can, Sanae knocks very lightly on the door. Immediately, the clammer of someone wading through a messy room can be heard, before the door opens to the very person she was looking for.
"A Deadman? Aren't you supposed to be back in G Ward, where you belong?" Despite the harsh undertones of his words, Azuma doesn't make any moves to harm Sanae.
"I need some information," she started, "if you have it."
Leaning against the doorframe, Azuma quirked an eyebrow as he asked, "What kind of information?"
"Information regarding Toto Sakigami." The name made Azuma perk up instantly, and he ushered her into his room.
"What about him?" he asked when he was sure the door was locked. "And speak quietly."
"A fellow Deadman - Tsumetai, or Raven, I guess - has been wondering about Toto because she's observed some changes in him recently." Azuma sat back, mulling over what he knew.
"Did she know him before he disappeared?" he asked after a while.
"No. She arrived here after he had shown back up, I believe."
"Hmm..." And so Azuma fell into thought and Sanae waited, hoping she would get a lead out of the deranged man. After five minutes had passed, something seemed to click in Azuma. "I'm pretty sure that I don't know what you're looking for, but I know who does."
"Who?" Sanae sat forward, scared but eager to hear the name.
"They're twins; their names are Chan and En. If you can find them, you'll find your answers." Jumping up to her feet, Sanae picked her way to the door quickly before stopping.
"What do I owe you for this information?"
"How about, if the Undertakers ever have to fight you off, I get to fight you. Sound like a deal?"
"Deal." And with the deal struck, Sanae unlocked the door and ran off to tell Tsumetai what their next step would have to be.

Roughly a month passed after Senji and Tsumetai's Carnival Corpse, and nothing had changed. Senji and Sanae were still together, along with Toto and Tsumetai. During the time that had passed, Tsumetai and Senji had become somewhat friends, and Sanae had learned to deal with Toto...No matter how much she still hated him. One day, they were sat in a rarely used hallway, talking about nothing in particular.
"There haven't been any Carnival Corpses recently..." Sanae commented. "I wonder why." Tsumetai and Toto shrugged, but Senji seemed to have an idea as to why the phenomena was happening.
"I've been hearing that they're preparing for a special one...Apparently they're going to hold a tag team Carnival Corpse soon," he said as he ran his fingers through his hair. "Knowing my luck, and how much the watchers love me, I'm gonna be stuck in it. Toto too, probably."
"Oh, you know me. I'd be excited about it...Right Tsume-chan?~" Toto purred, attempting to elicit one of Tsumetai's usual shiver-glare combos. As expected, Toto got what he wanted. "Oh lighten up. I'm just teasing you."
"Save the teasing for when you're alone," Sanae commented, a similar glare on her face as she yawned boredly. Standing, she brought Senji with her and began to walk off. "Like now. Have fun," she added sarcastically as the two disappeared around a corner.
"Don't mind if I-"
"Don't even think about it."
"Whyyyy?" Toto whined. Tsumetai rolled her eyes.
"We're in a hallway, for one thing. And as a second, I'm still tired as hell from last time you decided to 'have fun'."
"But Tsume-chan!~" Tsumetai persisted. Grinning deviously, Toto got in front of her and pulled her flush against his chest. Breath tickling Tsumetai's ear, he whispered, "You know you want me." Squeaking internally, she looked away and pushed at Toto, attempting to get him to let her go.
"Fine, fine, you win. But we have to go back to a room first. And I mean one of our rooms, not some random one that you find suitable."
"I knew you couldn't resist..." Grin widening, Toto bit down on her ear lobe before leaning back and letting her go. Face switching from lustful to cheerful, he popped to his feet and yanked Tsumetai up with him. "C'mon, let's go!"
Two days later, Tsumetai was still sore from the activities her and Toto had engaged in. While she lied on her bed, huddled underneath the covers, a crack resounded from the intercom.
"Attention G Ward. The Carnival Corpse you've all been waiting for has arrived. Today is the tag team match," the disembodied voice said. "But who are the contestants?" The person paused, giving those listening a chance to take a guess. After several more moments of silence, the pause ended. "Raven, Mockingbird, Crow, and Nightingale, please report to the commons. You've been chosen, but who are you teamed up with?" Tsumetai couldn't believe what she'd heard. Her rag-tag group was who they chose? Why not Hummingbird and Woodpecker? Peacock, even! What made her group so special? As she went to throw the blankets off, her door slammed open. Entering was Sanae, Senji, and Toto, all with similar expressions.
"Guess we're fighting each other," Sanae said bitterly. "Hopefully we're on the same team this time."
"No, Tsume-chan's gotta be on my team!" Toto demanded.
"Well, we won't know unless we get to the commons," Senji interrupted, cutting the possible argument short. "C'mon Tsumetai; there's no way to avoid this." Groaning internally, Tsumetai did as Senji said. Wobbling slightly as she got to her feet, she painstakingly stretched. After the soreness receded, she lazily followed the three out of her room, blatantly ignoring Toto when he latched onto her arm. The group made their towards the commons area, getting strange glances as they passed their fellow Deadmen. No one knew where the idea for a tag team Carnival Corpse had come from, and not one knew what the end result would be. All they could do was wait and see.
"Team Raven & Nightingale, are you ready?" Tsumetai and Sanae nodded. "How about you Team Mockingbird & Crow?" Toto and Senji nodded as well. "Alright then. You all know the rule; last person standing's team wins. Carnival Corpse...Begin!" Toto shot off in a blur, heading straight for the opposing team. Senji looked conflicted as he weighed he options, pretending to be taking his time towards the two. He'd expected Toto to go for Sanae, but what he saw said differently.
"Heheh, Tsume-chan..." Toto giggled as he reached for her throat. "Time to play." The girl could barely respond, shocked by both what was happening and the strength Toto was using. "Shocked, huh?" he teased. "I don't blame you."
"Tsumetai, do something!" Sanae yelled. The words didn't reach her ears. Everything was falling around her; Toto's face had contorted to that of her brother.
"You sat back and let us die." Whatever Toto was actually saying was getting twisted. "You could have at least died with us, but no. You sat back and watched."
"I'm sorry..." Tsumetai breathed. "I was a coward back then...But I'm not now."
"Bullshit." The grip on her neck was getting tighter and tighter. She couldn't bring herself to bring out her Branch of Sin. The guilt was too much. Just as her eyesight was going fuzzy, something knocked Toto away. Reality crashed down. Sanae and Senji were working on pinning Toto, who was wriggling like a fish out of water.
"Tsumetai, hit him!" Senji yelled. "I forfeit the match, but he won't agree." Tsumetai could barely process everything. When the words clicked, she quickly bent down, grabbed Toto's face, before slamming it to the ground as gently as she could while still knocking him out. The look in his eyes revealed his feelings of betrayal, but she ignored it. He betrayed her, even if it had been the excitement of the match. He deserved it. When his eyes slid shut, Senji announced the forfeit, and the crowd booed.
"I can't believe he did that. Thank god Senji had his plan, or Toto would've been ripped to shreds by now," Sanae muttered. "And I know that would make you sad."
"Thanks, I guess...." Tsumetai remained silent. There was nothing she could think to do that would fix what had just happened. She hoped it had been a mindless act of adrenaline; hell, to her, her life depended on it. If it had been his plan all along, nothing could stop him. At this point, not even the Wretched Egg could stop him.

For months, Tsumetai and Toto were as peaceful as possible in Deadman Wonderland. Though neither Sanae or Chaplin approved of them being together, they'd stopped obsessing over it. This gave the two just a little room to breathe. As Toto had wished, they ended up in each other's beds at least three times a week...Even when Tsumetai was having her monthly visitor. It was the day the visitor arrived the first time in January that Tsumetai had her worst Carnival Corpse yet. She was pinned against Senji, and wasn't necessarily scared...Just nervous.
"Tsume-chan!~" Toto chirped as he ran up behind her and pulled her flush to his chest. "Heard you have a Carnival Corpse against Crow today. I think it's funny how Crow and Raven have to fight, considering how similar the two birds are."
"I don't see what makes it so funny," Tsumetai said as she leaned back into Toto just slightly, gripping his wrists in her hands.
"Well, that's sad...But anyway! That's not what I wanted to talk about. Do you need me to help you prepare for your Carnival Corpse?"
"Would you?" the bluenette asked as she looked over her shoulder at her lover, gratitude in her eyes as she waited expectantly for his answer.
"Well, of course I would! Anything for my Tsume-chan!~" he said happily, a large smile on his face. Releasing her from the hug, Toto grabbed Tsumetai's wrist and pulled her towards an empty room. "In you go!" he said after he opened the door. Releasing Tsumetai's wrist, he waited for her to enter. Walking in slowly, she looked around curiously.
"What's this room used for?" she asked as she looked back at Toto, who was closing the door.
"The same thing we're gonna do; training! I made sure no one trained in her today, though, so we could have it all for ourselves!" A small smile on his face, Toto pulled a small razor from his pocket and cut a few lines on both arms. "Ready?" Tsumetai prepared and nodded. "Go!" Forming Crow Claws, Toto lunged forward. Raising an arm, Tsumetai blocked the hits before using her Branch of Sin in a way that she'd never tried before: she jabbed them into Toto's stomach and broke them off, before letting them liquefy and reharden. "Look at you, learning new tricks!" Toto cheered. "Let's find a few more."
Toto helped Tsumetai prepare for her Carnival Corpse for almost 12 hours straight, until she could barely stand. Toto smiled happily at the progress the two had made, and when Tsumetai slumped into him and passed out, he lifted her up and carried her to the infirmary. They were both bandaged up, and allowed to stay there until morning. Lying down, Toto attempted to sleep, but couldn't. Something in the back of his head was bothering him. Lying on his back, he stared up at the ceiling, struggling to figure out what it was that was keeping him up.
'What is it?' he thought, lifting his hands and massaging his temples. 'Why can't I pinpoint it? It's important, so why can't I-' It then occurred to him: Tsumetai and Sanae's plans for escape. Tsumetai had once told him what the two had come up with so far, and he'd been thinking of ways to further the plan so Sanae would let him go with them. 'A diversion of some sort is what they need; a really good diversion...Not like the one Sanae had suggested...Something during a Carnival Corpse would be the most effective, really...' Sitting up, Toto looked over at Tsumetai. Standing, he went over and poked her shoulder.
"Tsume-chan?" he whispered as quietly as he could, leaning down to her ear. "Wake up." The girl groaned in annoyance, but awoke none-the-less.
"What?" she asked, still obviously tired.
"I know what you and Sanae need to do to...Finish your plan."
"Really?" Tsumetai became much more alert at the news. "What is it?"
"You need a diversion during a Carnival Corpse. Perhaps two people fucking; two people other than you and me or Sanae and Senji. That'll get everyone's attention, and allow Scar Chain to act without much attention being drawn to them."
"That's genius! But who?"
"That's the hard part. I'll do some researching...So don't worry about it. Now, good night my Raven." Kissing Tsumetai's forehead, Toto went back to his bed and attempted to fall asleep again. This time, it actually worked.
"Raven, it's time for your Carnival Corpse!" was what woke both Tsumetai and Toto the next day. Sitting up, the blue-haired female groaned and stood. Quickly pulling on all her clothing, she went for the door, waving over her shoulder at Toto.
"Bye-bye Tsume-chan!~" he called. "Good luck!" With those two simple words in her head, Tsumetai followed the guard to the elevator. When they arrived, she stepped onto the platform and he nodded before leaving her there. When the platform lowered, Tsumetai sighed to herself.
"I thought I'd have more time than that..." she muttered. Hugging herself, she mustered her courage and strength and waited out the ride. When the elevator stopped, she stepped out and saw Senji on the other side of the arena. Waving at him, she got a wave back.
"Welcome one, welcome all, to a Carnival Corpse that's been long-awaited! Raven and Crow are finally fighting to see which blackbird is the best! Let's give them both a round of applause!" the announcer said happily. The crowd cheered, half cheering for Senji, and the others for Tsumetai. "Lets get this going quickly. Round start!" Immediately, both Deadmen got their Branches of Sin prepared, and Tsumetai took defense. "This will hopefully be a long round!"
When the round was over, both Tsumetai and Senji were on their backs. They were near each other, and could barely move.
"Nice round," Senji said, sounding surprised. "You held your own great."
"Thank you," Tsumetai breathed in response, groaning as she lifted her arm to look at her fingertips. "I think my fingertips are going to have holes in the forever because of this." Senji laughed weakly. "Whoever gets up wins, alright?"
"Sounds fair," Senji answered. Both began to struggles to sit up. When the two did get sat up, it was simultaneous. Then came to stand. "Whoever stands up the fastest..." Senji muttered to himself, getting onto his knees and pushing himself up.
"Come on...Do you really want a Penalty Game?" Tsumetai hissed at herself as she began standing. When the two were fully up, it was again at the same time.
"Amazing! A tie! Both had just enough strength to stand on their own, and they did it at the same time!" The crowd booed at that. "Looks like neither will have a Penalty Game!"
"What?!" was screamed by the audience, followed by Tsumetai and Senji's own questions.
"Look, I didn't make that decision. I was just told to announce it. Congratulations to Raven and Crow, though! Neither will lose anything important today!" With the words spoken, guards came in and helped both Deadmen from the arena.
"Looks like it was a good match after all," Tsumetai joked. Senji chuckled and rolled his eye.
"Sure does."
"Congrats on the win."
"Same to you."

TRATM X: A Quick Fight
Chapter ten of The Raven and the Mockingbird, a T-rated Deadman Wonderland fanfic from 2013-17. Since this an archive, I am not editing the chapters as they are posted. Follows an OC named Tsumetai and her relationship with canon character, Toto Sakigami.

A week after the incident in which Toto nearly got murdered by two very angry females, Tsumetai was sitting in the cafeteria with an opened bottle of water in front of her, yet untouched. She'd been staring at it for nearly five minutes, but couldn't bring herself to take a drink from it. She had bought it while her and Toto had been derping around G Ward, and just as they'd sat and she opened it, a guard had come up and taken him away for his Carnival Corpse. Toto smiled confidently at her as he left, but she felt sick just thinking about him being in a fight. She'd watched all his other Carnival Corpses, and she knew he was, and still is, the strongest Deadman, but she didn't like it. She'd just gotten together with him, and here the world was, trying to take him away.
"God, when will it start?" she asked as she stood, grabbing the bottle and leaving the cafeteria, before making a beeline for Toto's room. She entered and sat on his bed, grabbing the remote for his TV and clicking it on. Just as the screen lit up, the announcer named the two competitors.
"On the left is Mockingbird, the strongest and most sadistic Deadman here at Deadman Wonderland!" they said. "And, on the right is....Hummingbird! A lovely line-up we have here! Two sadists who get their kicks at seeing others bleed! Though, with LoveâLabyrinth, Mockingbird has a distinct advantage over Hummingbird." Complaints swept through the audience, causing the announcer to huff in annoyance. "Fine, fine, I'll stop." Taking a deep breath, the announcer bellowed loudly, "Let the Carnival Corpse begin!!!!!" At the mention of the word begin, Toto scratched at his wrist, tearing the skin. Lunging forward, he formed Senji's Crow Claws and slashed at Minatsuki, who dodged it at the very last second.
"Jesus, calm yourself and give a girl time to prepare!" she yelled as she did as Toto had, forming whips and lashing them at Toto. Just as they were about to reach him, he pushed off the ground and jumped up, letting his blood liquefy before turning them into the same whips Minatsuki was using.
"I've never let a girl prepare," Toto started as his feet struck the metal of the cage he had been standing in not that long before. "Tsume-chan can testify to it." Pushing off again, Toto shot like a bullet towards Minatsuki and used the whips he had formed to bunch all of hers together. Only having to use one arm, he used the blood pouring from his other wrist to do something that shocked not only Tsumetai, but the entire audience: He formed Raven Spurs, Tsumetai's Branch of Sin. Flicking the arrow-like formations at Minatsuki, Toto released the whips and pushed off of her stomach, sending the girl backwards and onto her back. Toto did a flip and landed on his feet and stared at Minatsuki, tsking to himself.
"Looks like that match went longer than expected! Hummingbird looks unconscious and like she's about to keel over, so Mockingbird is the winner!" Toto didn't hear the announcer and was prepared to finish his opponent off, but guards ran in and restrained him before he had the chance. He began to struggle, but they injected a tranquilizer into him and he went limp in their arms as they dragged him out. As those guards left, more poured in and lifted Minatsuki onto a stretcher, before wheeling her away for her Penalty Game.
Forty-five minutes later, Toto was let out of the infirmary, chest and arms bandaged. He skipped down the halls, eager to see what Tsumetai had thought of his "performance". When he got to his room, he threw the door open, and saw Tsumetai sitting on his bed, legs crossed and slumped forward, presumably asleep. Tip-toeing over, Toto sat in front of her and hugged her, before pushing her onto the bed fully and pinning her.
"Tsume-chan," he whispered, lips close to her ear. Slowly, Tsumetai's eyes opened, and she looked at him. For a moment, she looked relieved, but the relief turned to anger as she pushed him off of her. He stared at her confused, before laughing slightly. "Are you upset that I told all of G Ward, plus whatever sleazy people were watching my Carnival Corpse, that we fucked?" He smiled teasingly, but she only glared.
"You promised not to use my Branch of Sin," she hissed, eyes narrow. "I realize it's been revealed, but still. You promised to never use it...I fucking trusted you!"
Shrugging, Toto leaned over her, saying, "I only meant until it was revealed. Yeah, I should've elaborated, but still. I did keep my promise...It's just not the promise you thought it was." Pinning her back down, he propped himself up with one arm and slid his free hand under her neck. "Besides, I didn't kill Minatsuki with it, so what's the big deal?" Before Tsumetai could answer, Toto lifted her and kissed her. Slowly, he sat back up, straddling her thighs as she was pulled up with him. After pulling away, he wrapped his arms around her neck and smiled. "So, now that that's been dealt with, shady (?) wanna do?" Tsumetai sighed angrily, before smiling despite herself.
"We could always just sleep," she said simply. Toto nodded in agreement.
"I like that idea," he said as he unwrapped his arms from her neck. Still straddling her, he pushed her flat against the bed and kissed her forehead before getting up and walking to one side of the bed. Crawling in, he pulled the blankets from under Tsumetai and draped them over her, before hugging her tightly. She smiled and hugged back, enjoying the normality of his hug. After a while, Toto began laughing out of nowhere, causing Tsumetai's eyes to open. Looking up at him, he smiled pervertedly. "I half expected you to say we can always do each other."
Rolling her eyes, Tsumetai punched him playfully and said, "It's always an option...But I'm too tired." This only made Toto laugh harder.
"Then lemme wake you up," he whispered seductively as he crawled on top of her and straddled her hips, before placing his hands onto her stomach. Leaning down, he licked her nose before kissing the tip of it, causing her to blush. "Continue?" he asked hopefully. Sighing, Tsumetai shook her head.
"Can't, remember? Senji stole all your condoms for him and Sanae to use," Tsumetai said dejectedly. Toto shuddered slightly, causing Tsumetai's boobs to jiggle, which made her laugh. "Can you get off me before shuddering? I really don't need THAT to happen again." Rolling his eyes, Toto slipped off Tsumetai and lied down next to her.
"If Senji ever pays me back, that'll be happening a lot more often," Toto whispered as he closed his eyes, head resting on Tsumetai's chest. "Like, every night....Well, if I get my way." Sighing in defeat, Tsumetai closed her eyes as well and they fell asleep that way.

Sitting in a pile of blankets was a bare Tsumetai, with an icy glare fixed on Toto. The object of her irritation had a shit-eating grin on his face as he stared back. After a few seconds, Toto leaned over and caged Tsumetai against the edge of her bed and breathed in her ear.
"Why so upset, Tsumetai-chan?" he asked teasingly. "And if about what we just did - y'know, each other - you did give me permission...And you definitely enjoyed it." One of Toto's arms went around Tsumetai's waist and pulled her against him, causing her to blush. "You even went as far as calling me...What was it? Toto-sama?" As Tsumetai went to answer, the door suddenly burst open and in stepped in an angry Chaplin.
"What are you doing to her?" she yelled, only to be met with the sight of a very naked Toto leaning over an equally naked Tsumetai, barely covered by the blankets thanks to Toto. "TOTO SAKIGAMI!" Chaplin screamed, angry apparent in her tone, mannerisms, and expressions. Toto sat back slowly and crossed his legs, exposing his crotch to Chaplin, who immediately glared, and Tsumetai, who blushed even worse.
"Yes?" Toto drawled, smirk playing at the edges of his lips.
"What. Have. You. Done?" Chaplin growled, eyes slits as she glowered at Toto with such hatred, fire was nearly radiating off her.
"Hm...Tsumetai-chan, of course!" Toto chirped, smiling happily. "I thought it was obvious. I mean, she's naked, I'm naked. Her hair and mine are both messed up. We're covered in sweat. She can barely stand without knocking her knees together."
"T-toto-san!" Tsumetai exclaimed, eyes wide in horror as she watched Toto and Chaplin. Chaplin turned her gaze to Tsumetai, and it morphed from hatred to sadness.
"Tsume-chan, you didn't..." Chaplin started, looking disappointed. "Did you?" Slowly, Tsumetai nodded, embarrassed. Hugging her knees, the bluenette draped the blanket over her legs and upper body. Looking away, she muttered something inaudibly. "Hm?"
"I said that it's none of your business what I do with my body, or who I do it with," Tsumetai said, very little verbal strength behind her voice. Toto smiled in pride as he slid over to Tsumetai and hugged her.
"That's my rebel!~" he cooed softly as he licked Tsumetai's ear slowly, drawing a growl from Chaplin. "Hm, Chaplin, you seem angry. Why?" Tilting his head, Toto chewed his lower lip innocently, looking genuinely lost.
"You know why you sick fuck," Chaplin said quietly. As she stared Toto down, Sanae appeared in the doorway and screeched as she saw Toto's exposed...Y'know.
"Dude, pants! Like, now!!!" she yelled as she stepped in, a hand hiding her eyes. Cautiously, Sanae edged towards where she'd seen Tsumetai sitting, until she felt her fit her something...Something that let out a soft groan of pain. "Tsumetai?"
"Yeah...." Tsumetai muttered as she slowly stood, nudging Sanae slightly with her elbow. "How did your Penalty Game go? Since you're alive, I assume that whatever you lost wasn't all that significant."
"Yeah, I had my spleen taken out. But, that's the least of our problems," Sanae said as she dropped her hand, happy to see Toto at least had underwear on now. "What the fuck do you think you're doing, fucking him? Are you stupid or something?!" Tsumetai shrugged.
"It's like how you feel about Senji...You've said that you don't know why, but you just love him..." Tsumetai started. "That's kinda how it is with Toto. I mean, I hate him sometimes, but I still love him in the end. Don't know why, and I probably never will." Sighing, Sanae shook her head in disbelief.
"Look, I don't want you to get hurt," she started, "that's the only reason I don't want you to be with him any longer. I think he's using you...I've told you that before, and I'll tell you again." A chuckle left Toto at Sanae's warning.
"You think I'm using my beloved Tsumetai-chan?" he asked, faking hurt in his voice. "I'm offended by that accusation."
"Well, if you didn't act the way you do, Sanae wouldn't think the way she does about you!" Chaplin suddenly yelled as she stepped up to Toto and grabbed him by his hair. "Now, either leave Tsume-chan alone, or I'll have no choice but to hurt you...Maybe even kill you."
"I would rethink that," Toto said. "I mean, look at Tsumetai." Chaplin did glance at Tsumetai, only to see her looking extremely saddened by Chaplin's threat. "See? She cares for me just as she does for you...And to see someone she trusts hurt someone she loves would break her. Well, that's what I think anyway....Am I right Tsume-chan?"
"Yeah..." she muttered under her breath as she turned away from the scene, looking for her clothes. "He's right...But I can't stand seeing someone I love treat someone else I love like shit...And that goes for all three of you in here."
"Look, I know I've been a bi-"
"Wait, Sanae....I wanna just say that I haven't been the best person either...So...I'm sorry for that. I love and care for you all, and seeing you bicker and yell makes me sick...But then I remember all the bad times we've had together that we got through." Glancing over her shoulder, Tsumetai smiled slightly. "So, thanks." Turning back around, she grabbed her clothes and went behind the weird paper wall thing she had in her room and changed as Chaplin turned to Toto.
"I still despise you," she stated bluntly. "But I guess I should just get over it. BUT, DON'T FUCKING TOUCH HER EVER AGAIN."
"I agree. No more fucking her," Sanae said.
"Sorry, that's a decision only Tsume-chan and I can make."
"Why you little-"
"Ah, the arguing continues..." Tsumetai said as she changed, a smile on her face. "Too bad this happiness can't last for long, considering Toto's upcoming Carnival Corpse...."

As Toto and Tsumetai delved into a world that shall not be mentioned, Sanae was in surgery for her most major wound: the gash in her side that she had created herself. They sanitized and cleaned, stitched and sewed, drugged and numbed Sanae's body as the wound slowly got closed. After what seemed to be an day's worth of working, Sanae slowly slid her eyes open, only to see the nurse responsible for the Penalty Game standing above her.
"Hm....So you're awake? Good," the nurse said, smirking down at Sanae. "I've been waiting for the day that you would be in here, and that I'd get to dissect you." Grimacing, Sanae glared up at the nurse.
"Screw you," Sanae said, her glare intensifying. Feigning hurt and shock, the nurse raised a hand and covered her open mouth, her eyes wide.
"Oh, watch your mouth young lady! I could take that tongue out of your mouth here and now," she said, her eyes glinting maliciously as she met Sanae's glare.
"Fucking try it, bitch!" Sanae yelled, attempting to sit up and hitting the loose straps holding her stomach down. "I'll paint these dull walls with your blood in a minute!"
The nurse acted as if she were contemplating Sanae threat as she said, "Hmm...I cannot officially do anything until I'm told what to take away...." She had a fake look of thoughtfulness as she glanced back down at Sanae.
Scoffing, the raven haired Deadman smirked slightly as she said, "Of course. You can't do anything until someone is firmly restrained, can you? That's when you feel confident and shit, right?" Her glare remaining steady, Sanae lied back down before muttering to herself, "Psh...Sad."
Sneering, the nurse glared heavily at Sanae as she smirked to herself. Getting upset, the nurse turned to look behind her and yelled, "Has her penalty been decided yet?!" The smirk on Sanae's face faded slowly as she turned back to look at the nurse. Taking note of the nurse's impatience, she took what little amusement she could from the situation.
"Yeah, we're ready," said one of the guards as he walked in with a few others, rolling a stretcher over to the two females. "We just need to get her tied down." Nodding, the nurse made a sound of approval as the guards undid the loose strap around Sanae's stomach, before lifting her from her hospital bed and setting her onto the stretcher. They first strapped down her arms, then her legs, and onto her torso and head, rendering her immobilized. A confident smile slipping onto the nurse's face, the guards rolled Sanae out into the arena for the Penalty Game. Following, the red-haired nurse put out her cigarette before slipping her hands into her lab coat's pockets.
'I wonder if Senji is going to be watching this...' Sanae thought to herself as she lied on the stretcher, eyes closed tightly. 'I hope not...I don't want him to see this...' Without her knowing, her wish came true, for Senji's eyes had left the screen almost immediately after the match had ended.
A vicious smile on the nurse's lips, she walked over to the stretcher Sanae was lying on as the raven-haired Deadman said, "Just get it over with..." Slipping a scalpel and forceps from her pocket, the nurse looked down at Sanae, head tilted to the side as Sanae glared at her. Her smile turning to an evil smirk, the nurse fiddled with the scalpel. "The only thing that you take out better be what you're told. If I find that something else is missing, I'll take whatever you took from me from you."
Rolling her eyes, the nurse looked from the scalpel to Sanae and said, "If I did that, I wouldn't be alive. My life is on the line too, y'know. And anyway, it's a fairly useless organ that is getting taken away." Anger present on the nurse's face, she gritted her teeth in irritation. Rolling her eyes, Sanae snickered to herself. Sighing angrily, the nurse averted her eyes to hide her angry.
"Just get it over with, alright?" Sanae demanded, getting impatient.
"Well then. Someone's impatient," the nurse said as she started making marks for where the incisions would go. Starting to chuckle to herself, Sanae quickly started full out laughing, causing the nurse to slip up with the marker. "You moronic child!" she yelled, eyebrows furrowing in frustration.
Smirking, Sanae continued chuckling as she slowly regained her composure, before stating simply, "It tickles." Shaking her head in disgust, the nurse muttered something to herself as she continued marking Sanae's body for incisions. "Bitch," Sanae said in response.
Smiling to herself, the nurse replied, "Thank you. I try."
"Not that much, apparently."
` "Why don't you go and fuck yourself?"
"I would, but I'm a little tied down, if you can't tell."
Shuddering slightly in disgust, the nurse said, "May as well get this operation over with. Knock out gas please!" Eyes fluttering closed, Sanae slipped into darkness as the nurse giggled sadistically. Making the first incision, the nurse followed the marks she had made. As she did so, Sanae dreamed of before she had been brought to Deadman Wonderland. After all the incisions were made, the nurse prepared the spleen for removal. Cutting it out from Sanae's body, the nurse pulled it out and put it into a glass jar. Slowly stitching the opening back up, the nurse also began to clean up. After the last stitch was made, she wiped the blood off of everything and set her tools onto the table next to her. "Wake her up!" she demanded as she took the jar over to a shelf.
Stirring slowly, Sanae's eyelids twitched as she regained consciousness. The nurse turned around as she removed her gloves and threw them away. Opening her eyes, Sanae slowly took in her surroundings, only to see the nurse looking down at her.
"Welcome back to reality," she said in a sickly sweet tone, causing Sanae to grimace.
"Shit, talk about a rude awakening. The least you bastards could've done was let me wake up to a somewhat decent face. Hell, I would've taken a fucking guard in a body suit. But no, they let me wake up to you. I hope you enjoyed being inside of me because it's the first and last time you'll ever see me," Sanae said harshly.
Sneering, the nurse said, "You think I enjoyed having to be anywhere near you?" Scoffing, the nurse glared at Sanae, disgusted.
"Glad the feeling's mutual."
Walking towards the door, the nurse simply left Sanae to be taken care of by the guards.

Staring at the screen, unable to believe his eyes, was Senji. Blinking, he tilted his head and continued to staring muttering to himself, "Well, that was...Different..."
Just then, the voice of the Announcer came back and said rather awkwardly, âWell...uh...ladies and gentlemen, it seems that...this is the first ever Carnival Corpse to end in...a tie?" As everyone watching stared at their TV screens, Tsumetai twitched just slightly. "So, uh....What should we do?" The voices of the watchers came in, multiple people yelling at the same time, but three answers were heard quite clearly.
"Give them both the penalty game!"
"No way! Give Sanae-san the win! She's obviously got the most experience!"
"But she fell before Tsumetai-san, therefore Tsumetai-san is the winner!"
As the yelling continued, Tsumetai twitched again before sitting up and rubbing her head, dizzy from the blood loss but somehow regenerating quickly. As the loud voices entered through her ears, she cringed from the overloading of the auditory section of her brain and covered her ears, before letting her hands fall and muttering a simple, "Assholes..." under her breath.
"Ah! One of them is still conscious, therefore they've won," the Announcer exclaimed. "And your winner is Tsumetai-san! If Sanae-san is still alive, we will patch her up and get her ready for her very first Penalty Game!" As the words passed through the speakers, a guard ran over to Sanae's body and check for a pulse.
"She's got a pulse!" he yelled, causing more guards to flood through into the cage. "It's faint, but if we get her in the ER quick, we can get it back to normal!" They lifted Sanae's limp, but still alive, body and quickly carried her out of the cage, leaving Tsumetai angry, confused, and dizzy. Standing up quickly, she took a step forward, only to stumble and sway as her ears rang and blood pounded through her skull at a rapid rate. Steadying herself, she slowly walked from the center of the cage to leave.
"I...D-don't care how much an asscrown he is...." she said to herself before dropping her volume to nothing more than a suggestion of air. "I just need to be with Toto-san...So I can make his life miserable..."
As she continued to stumble, Toto stood up and clapped his hands together excitedly, exclaiming, "I should go and congratulate Tsume-chan on her win!~" A laugh accompanying his words, he skipped into the hallway and down towards where she would soon be exiting from.
Stumbling into the hallway, Tsumetai feigned enthusiasm, skipping down the hall, though she winced every few steps. " Toto-san! Where are you?~" she called in a sickly sweet, fake voice. Toto heard her just as he rounded the corner and saw her, seeing through her mask of happiness.
"Tsume-chan! Congratulations on beating Sanae-san! Told you to use her weakness, which of course was you," he giggled, smiling at her as he slowed his skipping to a walk and sauntered towards her. A tiny, genuine smile slipping onto her face, Tsumetai stopped skipping and ran over to him, wrapping her arms around his waist, thinking him innocent again.
"You should've told me who it was...." she muttered before kissing his cheek. Tightening her grip around his thin waist, she nuzzled her face into his shoulder.
Shrugging slightly, he answered simply, "I figured it'd be best that you found out when it was time."
"I just...Hope she's all right..." Tsumetai whispered, taking a step back. Smiling sweetly, she leaned in and stole a quick kiss from Toto before asking, "So....What do you wanna do now?"
"Well...I was hoping to catch the Penalty Game...And seen Senji-kun's reaction to it~," Toto replied, smiling back at her with a strange glint in his eyes.
"Well then, let's go!" Tsumetai said in response, wrapping one arm around Toto's hips and pulling her to her side and starting off towards Senji's room. Matching her strides, Toto's smile slipped into nothing more than an upwards twitch of his lips, which made him look really freaking cute. "Y'know...You're really adorable..." Tsumetai said quietly as she looked at him through the corner of her eye. Leaning over, she pressed her lips to his cheek in a sweet kiss and blushed slightly.
"And you're cute when you're about to kill someone!" Toto exclaimed happily as Tsumetai drew back, turning towards her with a bright smile playing on his lips. A darker blush flooded Tsumetai's cheeks as she looked away from him.
"Sh-shut up..." she said in a weak voice.
"It's true!" Toto said in a happy tone as he continued to gaze at her.
"Considering it took me nearly killing my best friend for you to see that side of me, I'm not that proud of it..." she answered, hugging him to her side tighter as they continued to walk.
Chuckling slightly, Toto leaned over and whispered in her ear, "I simply find it more attractive than anything else."
"Well, I find your ass attractive, but ya don't hear me talking about it with ya," she retorted, shooting a tiny glare his direction. Laughing, he leaned away.
"Point taken. But I wouldn't mind if you did talk about it." Winking, he sent a seductive smirk Tsumetai's way as she rolled her eyes.
"If I talked about how nice an ass you have, I'd end up sexually harassing you and groping your ass every time I saw you."
Unfazed, Toto met her gaze, not even blinking as he said, "I repeat, I wouldn't mind."
"Oh really?" Tsumetai asked, quirking an eyebrow as she stared Toto down. "Well then, there's been a change of plans." Her innocent, cute act slipping away, Tsumetai released Toto's waist and instead gripped his wrist, dragging him to her room. Opening the door, she shoved him in, before slamming it behind her and locking it. As Toto stared at her, curious, she grabbed his collar and kissed him, biting his bottom lip harshly and shoving him against the wall. "I guess this won't bother you then?" Slipping a hand around behind him, Tsumetai snaked her way down to his ass and gave a light squeeze, smirking at how he tensed just slightly before relaxing again. "One last question: Are you a sadist or a masochist?" Batting her eyelashes, she stared at Toto waiting for an answer, which he gladly gave her:
"Both."

Spikes pressed against Sanaeâs neck, Tsumetaiâs lips curled into a Cheshire smile, awaiting the answer to the question sheâd just presented.
Sighing angrily, Sanae answered Tsumetaiâs question, saying, âYou really think the fact that you and Toto talk means anything? He's just using you, Tsumetai-chan!â The blood seeping from the wound on her neck turned into long whips, similar to another Deadmanâs Branch of Sin. The whips formed sharp thorns that dug into Tsumetaiâs skin as the whips wrapped around the girlâs wrists, and they yanked her arms back in the process. Turning to face her opponent, Sanae asked, âHas he already had a taste of your blood?â
âIn all honesty....Who hasn't tasted my blood? It's already circulated through this entire facility unknowingly, and all because of Genkaku-san taking some for experimentation,â Tsumetai answered, maniac laughter following her words. âSo to answer your question.....Yes, but so have you, and every single Deadman in G Ward; every prisoner here has! Of course, no one ever suspected it. They were all minute doses; barely a milliliter at a time. But, at one point, every Deadman had drank half a liter of my blood.â The grin on Tsumetaiâs face slowly slid into a vicious smirk. âOh, and just so you know.....This doesn't hurt a bit.â
âI wish I didn't have to hurt you...â Sanae muttered, staring at Tsumetai, hiding her emotions behind a veil of blankness. Lifting one hand, she slit her wrist, and another vine appeared, wrapping itself around Tsumetaiâs neck and digging the thorns into her neck. Managing a cough, Tsumetai gasped out more maniac laughter as blood dripped from her neck.
âYou think....This is doing anything?â she asked, her vicious smirk growing even wider. âYou haven't seen my entire Branch of Sin yet, girly.â The blood that was dribbling down Tsumetaiâs skin slowly formed into ice like crystals, with all the spikes pointing outwards. Sanae glanced down at the spikes emotionlessly, tilting her head slightly.
âI've stopped being surprised by people's Branch of Sin,â she muttered, merely tightening the vines around Tsumetaiâs neck and wrists.
Giggling slightly, Tsumetai glanced at Sanae with those strange, golden eyes, and said, âI'm not saying you should be surprisedâŠ.â Her smirk changed from vicious to evil, and blood dripped from her mouth. âJust a littleâŠâ Pausing for effect, her eyes widened, and at that moment, the spikes that had formed around her neck and wrists shot out in constant volleys, before she continued. âI'D SAY INJURED IS AN APPROPRIATE WORD.â At the last second, Sanaeâs Branch of Sin turned into armor, but the spikes sliced her right arm.
âShit! That hurts!â she yelled, wincing from the pain. Giving Tsumetai an pissed look, the blood from the wound on her arm shot out in a vine and slashed Tsumetaiâs. As it broke the skin, Tsumetai laughed yet again.
âYou canât forget this ability of mine!â she said, giggling chaotically as her blood vapourized into a toxic gas. âThis toxic gas can cause quite some damage without killing....And only I have an immunity to it.â Attempting to cock her head to one side, Tsumetai continued to grin at Sanae as her as flickered between the strange yellow similar to Toto's eyes, and their normal blue.
"Why are you doing this? Just for that damn weirdo?" Sanae demanded, glaring at Tsumetai with hardened eyes. After a few seconds, she realized she wasn't getting an answer and scoffed. "So if that's really it, then kill me. Just fucking kill me! I'd rather die than have to live knowing that my 'friend' would choose some manipulating freak who she barely knows. Forget everything about us! Forget the fact that I was one of the first people who was actually nice to you. Forget the fact that I always stood up for you when other inmates tried to mess with you. Forget the fact that I did everything I could to protect you, while you only thought of Toto!" she screamed, the hardened look never leaving as her eyes bore into Tsumetai's. As she continued to stare, Sanae noticed Tsumetai's body tense up before freezing, and her eyes returned to ocean blue.
"W-what...." she muttered quietly, eyes flitting around as she tried to grasp the situation. "What's happened?" she asked as her blood liquidified and fell down. "I..." She couldn't continue as a scream was yanked from deep within her as she herself fell to the ground, before attempting to curl into a ball. Seeing Tsumetai's struggle, Sanae retracted her Branch of Sin and looked at her with pity evident in her eyes.
"Even the purest of us seem to fall into the dark, violent ways of Deadman Wonderland..." she muttered as she stared at her best friend, who had pulled her legs in close to her body and was sobbing heavily.
"I wanna go home.......Okasan....Why were you taken away? And Fuyu-niisan.....I miss you..." she whispered as her body was wracked from the sobs coming from deep within her. Frowning, Sanae turned away from Tsumetai just slightly to give her a little privacy.
"I'm sorry, Tsumetai-chan...." she mumbled, before little the small razor in between her fingertips and slitting her wrist, letting a vine flow out. "You win." The vine shot through her side, causing her to fall to her knees as blood gushed out. "Don't cry...you won...don't cry...you...wo-" Sanae was cut off as she fell to the ground, rendered unconscious from all the blood she'd lost.
Slowly uncurling from her ball, Tsumetai sat up and glanced around blankly, before muttering almost inaudibly, "Everything was taken away from me....By a natural disaster....And only one thing was given to me..." Shakily standing up, she gave a final stand before she would black out. "THIS IS FOR OKASAN AND NIISAN." One last spike formed, going through her side near a now-closed wound that was from the past.
As Tsumetai started to sway from side to side, Toto watched the TV screen fervently. "Well, well...this is very interesting...the first tie in a Carnival Corpse...what will the executives do now?" he asked quietly, grinning excitedly.
As Tsumetai fell to her knees, she muttered one last thing, just loud enough for the people watching to here. "And Toto-san......Go die in hell....I wait to see you there." Falling forward, she landed on the ground face first and blacked out.
"Of course you'll wait for me. Even in death, you will always be waiting for me," he whispered to himself, grin never fading.

The two Deadmen stood in their respective sides of the arena, staring each other down. After a small amount of time, Tsumetai was the first to make a move. Lifting her ungloved hand, she stared at her fingertips for a second before lifting the other hand, and, using the spikes on her glove, pricked them. Blood bubbled up, and she let both hands fall. The blood solidified into long, sharp points on her fingertips as it dribbled down.
Giving Sanae another glance, she finally said, âIf I have to do this.....I'll fight.â As she raised her hand yet again - this time to send the points on her fingertips towards her opponent, though she didnât want to â Sanae did nothing to defend herself.
âThen do it. If only one of us has to get hurt during this thing, I'd rather it be me than you,â was all Sanae said as she left herself vulnerable, shocking most viewers. Shrugging slightly, Tsumetai gave a half assed smile.
âIf I get to out of hand, I apologize in advance.â With her hand raised, Tsumetai quickly flicked her wrist and sent the points towards Sanae. At the same time, Sanae took out a small razor and slit her chest, and the blood that came out formed a shell around her body. A smirk finding its way onto Tsumetaiâs face, she couldnât help but say, âA defensive against an offensive......I LIKE IT.â As she said it, her eyes flickered from sea blue to the same yellow as Totoâs, and the thought lit a fire of bloodlust deep within her. Giggling slightly, she pricked her lip and flicked her tongue out to taste it. âHmm....Toto-san was right....My blood is actually quite......DELICIOUS.â Without moving from her spot, Tsumetai sent another volley of spikes towards Sanae.
âGodâŠ.I seriously don't understand what you see in that freak, Tsumetai-chan. Forget about him!â Sanae yelled, still on the defensive. The outburst caused Tsumetai to finally look at her opponent again, and a smile was present on her face yet again.
âOhâŠI could say the exact same to you!â she retorted, flicking yet another volley at her friend and opponent. A cackle left her lips after the statement, and the sheer power of it messed up Tsumetaiâs balance, causing her to stumble to the side slightly. Quickly regaining her balance, she again looked up at Sanae with eyes that werenât hers.
âWhat the hell is that supposed to mean?â Sanae asked, anger and confusion present in not only her voice, but her expression.
âHow long did it take for Senji-senpai to even notice you, let alone speak to you? True, I've been here for four years. But Toto-san came here a year and a half ago! It took less time for him and I to talk than it did for Senji-senpai to acknowledge your existence!~â Tsumetai shouted back, her smile growing inhumanly large. Jumping from her spot to one of the rafters, she looked down at Sanae with a look of pride. âTherefore........â she continued, jumping back down, she landed right behind Sanae. âWho had the better luck?â she whispered into the slightly older femaleâs ear while pressing the spikes on her fingers against her opponentâs throat. âAnswer incorrectly........You'll most likely die.â
