so i wore a pride flag pin to work the other day and the kids were all interested (obviously) (find me a classroom of preschoolers who are not obsessed with rainbows) (i'll wait) so they crowded around to see.

"aww!" they said, "it's a flag!!"

but the thing is: they're little. a lot of them don't really have a handle on all their mouth sounds yet.

such as, notably, that tricky tricky "L" sound.

My take is that if you’re going to break up a happy healthy committed straight ship to make room for a gay one (or vice versa, but lbr the former happens more often in fandom) then you HAVE to keep the characters’ insanity for each other intact. Like ok yes sure we can handwave “it was a different time and we were younger and now that things are settled it’s for the best that we split” sure whatever BUT! I will not accept these guys becoming ambivalent to each other. You MUST maintain the fact that they would absolutely kill someone if the other asks. if you take away the romantic attraction then the years of history and emotion remain and now instead of kissing each other the blorbos just have to be really intense about their ex’s health and safety instead.

I appreciate how the starting team Zenless Zone Zero gives you is an odd jobs agency, because you can take them on literally any sidequest and have it still make sense with the story. You never need suffer the common gacha game dissonance of going on a quest with characters who have no reason to do so, because for the Cunning Hares the reason is always "it's an odd job we got hired for."

To make it even better, they're also the kind of hypercompetent goofballs who you can invest heavily into upgrading until they're stronger than outlaw kings and elite special forces without it being strange that the story or other characters don't acknowledge their awesome power. Being the biggest badasses in New Eridu while getting zero recognition for it is perfectly in-character for them
