I’m on literary fiction Pinterest and every time I see a ‘female rage’ ‘weird girl books’ ‘feminist horror’ etc list it’s always just full of women suffering?? Which is a lot less feminist than people think and is honestly boring too. You know what, growing up as a massive ASOUE fan has made it impossible for me to judge what is "too dark" for a middle grade novel. Like how am I supposed to know if I'm doing too much when at the tender age of 9 I was reading about the Baudelaires losing their parents to first-degree arson and getting adopted by a literal serial killer

to have an accurate understanding of lemony snicket in all the wrong questions you have to grasp that him solving mysteries is 5-20% skill depending on the case and literally everything else is pure luck.
