âThe best, hm? Iâll have to give it a try sometime then.â Caine said with a grin and a quiet amused hum as he turned to look off back in the direction he had came from. The tiger stilled at the question and furrowed his brow as he took a moment to ponder, âI donât really have a set destination if that makes any sense..â he finally replied.
âThere are many types oâ luck lad. But trust me when I tell ye that yer verra lucky.â She chuckled and nodded to him. âAye, tâis the best in my opinion. Nevâr had better.â
Iona smiled to Caine and looked to him. âWhere were ye tryinâ te get te?â There were plenty of places to go and this forest was massive. Knowing where he was headed would be a good thing.

The tiger stayed put, simply watching and listening to the woman even if everything in him wanted to retreat at the moment. âWell.. Iâd agree on the lucky part, but if I were things like this wouldnât happen to me when I was our for a night walk.â he laughed and then averted his gaze to the trail behind him until the mention of whiskey caught his attention again.
âWhiskey, eh?â Caine popped his brows as he questioned, âIâve never heard of Dreagon Whiskey, but Iâm sure itâs lovely..â his voice trailed as he took a slow step in reverse. âI might seem like the type to know where heâs going, but Iâm really not the best at backtracking. So.. If it isnât any trouble, a guide would be marvelous.â
She kept her eyes on him, not wanting to give him the advantage of attacking her unawares. His eyes held a truth to them. And there were places where no fences existed on Dreagan land. He also was a foreigner, that made things a bit easier. More excusable.
âYe are lucky yer nae from here laddie. That is probably the difference between ye walkinâ outta here and beinâ carried out in a pine box.â She chuckled and nodded to him. Seeing that at the moment he was not a threat, it was time to quell the dragon inside. âI am Iona Dreagan. My brother and rest of me kin make the famed Dreagon Whiskey. Our secrets are well guarded and tend to not take kindly te trespassers. Do ye ken the way off our land or do ye need a guide?â

Caine watched the woman for several moments in silence before he speaks up to question with a pop of his brows, âTrouble?â the feline actually lets out an odd sound of amusement as he moves across to wander in a semi-circle around the other. âI guess I should be used to that by now.. âÂ
The tiger pauses a moment to study the other before he speaks up again to introduce himself, âThe nameâs Caine, and I assure you that I wandered here by accident.â
âThis land belongs te those at Dreagan. Me and my kin doona care much fer trespassers.â Iona narrowed her eyes and stepped forward into the light. She wasnât afraid since there was very little that could kill her. Harm her? Oh yeah lots of things could do that. However being immortal had its upsides.
She looked at him. He didnât seem like someone whoâd purposely wandered there for any particular reason, but still she needed to sort out just why he was there. âYer reason is nae makinâ sense. Ye better tell the truth or ye may find yerself in trouble lad.â Iona relaxed her stance, but kept alert. She was ready to defend her homeland.

Caine had been out enjoying one of his usual late night strolls, though he was never exactly in the same place each time and tonight was no different. This time however he had unknowingly crossed into a space belonging to someone else and somehow had found himself nearly walking right into the owner, or who he presumed to be the owner, she definitely seemed like it to him from her tone. The tiger hesitantly took a few steps in reverse, absently tilting his head as he struggled to spot whoever had questioned him at first. He cleared his throat before speaking up cautiously, âI.. Uh.. Was just enjoying the scenery?â the shifter was still reluctant to offer her a name just yet.
caine-amos
Emerald eyes scanned the horizon, waiting for the sun to rise. Sheâd enjoyed the midnight flight and now it was time to settle into the mortal world. It was sad that she had to do so, but such was the way.
Iona heard someone coming up behind her and she turned her head. Thankfully she was able to shift quickly. The stranger now had her full attention. âWho are ye and why are ye here? These lands are private property.â

I have this odd habit of falling off the face of the earth and then returning a year later. (Due to anxiety and many other personal issues.) I suck at this, but letâs try again shall we? (If people will allow me to..) Tagging older posts as archive.

The tiger tilts his head to the side as the other shifter moves to head off in the direction of the clinic. He hesitates a moment or two before deciding to follow after her for now, moving quickly to fall into step beside her. His eyes curiously scan the area as they walk before he shifts his attention back to Selena. My name is Caine by the way.
Yes, a safe haven for shifters and others who want a place to reside peacefully without the human world interrupting. She liked the idea of having a safe place for those not exactly human to be. It was still in its infancy, but so far things had been good. With three witches watching the territory and the spells cast to keep poachers away, things were pretty easy going. So far anyway.
Selena continued to relax, lying down on her belly, her front paws in front of her. She continued to watch the other for a few moments more before getting to her feet and stretching. Feel free to stay as long as youâd like. I have patients to attend to.She turned and walked down the path that led to the cottage/clinic she mentioned to him earlier. If he followed, that was fine. If he didnât it was fine as well. While sheâd be thankful for the company, it wasnât in her to force someone into something they didnât want to do.

Sanctuary? Caine snorts an odd sound in amusement as he momentarily shifts his attention to his surroundings. He soon looks back to the other shifter, absently easing closer to the ground as she moved to sit. The tiger seems less anxious and much more curious now as he studies her for a moment or two.
He hadn't expected a greeting like this, used to a much more violent reaction to his presence. He wasn't going to complain. That's a first for me.
A drifter then. She let the fur on the back of her neck lay down and while she still looked imposing, she didnât take an aggressive stance. A few had come through and then passed onwards, not staying for long. One or two had come back a few more times, which was fine with her.
She sat down and looked to him, her tail twitching occasionally, but not in irritation. It was more like the movement of a house cat who watched those who came into her house. Then enjoy the bounty that The Sanctuary can offer. If you would like more human conditions, there is a cottage down the path. There is also medical attention should you need it.Â
Selena strived to keep the prey animals healthy and in a well cared for population. Her land already had warning signs up upon entering saying that often times wild creatures could be found lurking within its depths. Hunting was prohibited and that any who wandered in took their lives in their hands. She made it clear that tigers, leopards, jaguars, bears and worse lay within and it was a sanctuary for these wild creatures. The permits for it had been a nightmare to try to achieve, but thankfully her sisters had pulled some strings to get them.

Caine watched the other shifter cautiously, breathing out a low nervous sound as she shifted and wandered closer. Perhaps the tiger would have been much more at ease if previous encounters with fellow shifters were more pleasant than they had been.
He stood there, watching her intently as he absently cocks his head to the side. A long moment silence passes after she had first spoke to him, eventually responding. I mean no harm, I was just passing through.
She stalked closer, taking stock of the newcomer. All shifters were welcome within this sanctuary, but they needed to respect others and be willing to come in peace. Her land wasnât called The Sanctuary for no reason. Supernatural beings were welcome on her land, but that didnât mean she didnât want to know who was there.
Selena walked out of the undergrowth. She saw a tiger and smelled the scent of man as well. Another shifter like herself. She shifted to her tiger form, taking on the form of a white tiger and her blue eyes scanned him.Â
If you come in peace, you are welcome to stay. There is water further in and prey littered throughout my property. She found it easier to speak to other feline shifters when she took their animal forms. Unless both were in human shape.

Caine, having a very nomadic life style, was never one for the whole settling down and grabbing a bit of land to call his own thing. He'd always found the thought to be a bit silly, though it didn't mean he wasn't uneasy when he crossed into another shifter's territory, and this one was no different.
He caught the scent of the owner for he could actually spot her. Caine shifted into his tiger form the instant he had seen her, cautiously taking a step backward as the other shifter approached him
She was wandering through her property, making the rounds when she stopped dead. The scent of another feline hit her and she shifted to her panther form. It was quick but also powerful if she needed to. Who was this strange intruder though? Selena padded over to where the scent came from, ready to defend her territory if need be.

WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER WHEN YOU ARE IN A BAD MOOD?
A dark, quiet place.. and perhaps a nap.

.. Going out for a swim works most of the time as well.
