the  controller  clatters  into  his  lap  with  a  loud  noise  of  defeat.  there  was  nothing  overly  attractive  about  inviting  a  girl  over  to  kick  her  ass  in  video  games,  so  yes,  he  threw  the  match.    (   but  it  was  arguably  worth  it  to  see  the  way  she  lit  up.   )  “  shit  b,  you  got  me.  ”  always  with  something  up  his  sleeve,  there’s  a  glimmer  in  his  eye  as  he  scoots  closer  to  her.  

“  just  for  the  weekend?  ”  craning  his  neck  down,  he  buries  his  face  into  her  hair,  lips  hovering  dangerously  close  to  her  neck  before  he  presses  his  forehead  on  her  shoulder.  “  what?  after  the  weekend  you’re  gonna  pretend  like  you  don’t  know  me  anymore?  ”  he  lays  a  hand  over  his  heart,  “  you’re  gonna  break  my  heart  just  like  that?  you  cold.  real  cold.  what’s  that  shit  outkast  said?  ice  cold!  ”  

          “   hmm ,   if you want to keep calling me that then you’ll have to earn it .   ”     she laughs like the tinkling of a bell ,   eyes bright and glittering as she places her own controller on the mattress and shuffles around to face james and his pout .   her lips are pulled into a cheeky smile ,   teeth sinking down into the flesh of her lower lip .   she’s no fool ;   in fact ,   betty miller is too smart and observant for her own good sometimes ,   and she is fully aware that video games like this were certainly not her area of expertise .   

          “   well i haven’t seen you shake it like a polaroid picture yet ,   kennedy .   what’re you expecting ?   ”     betty can’t help the giggle that escapes her mouth ,   her hand coming up to skirt across the back of his neck with just the tips of her nails .     a shiver races up her spine with his touch ,   and she wants to take this fluttering feeling in her chest and tuck it away for safekeeping .     “   maybe you can call me babe more if you do .   ”
