Spent the day roaming Portland with my dad and Jayden. Caitlin and Aiden joined us about halfway through. Afterwards, we wrapped up the trip by spending the evening with my dad and his girlfriend. It was a great, albeit cold, day.

Eventually, yes.  I’m the type of person that wouldn’t mind a long engagement though, it doesn’t have to jump from engaged to wedding day. Technically no.  There’s are reasons for that.  This baby will be taking his last name.

I wasn’t expecting this until 20 weeks. Definitely a heel. A tiny one, but most assuredly a kick. AHHH.

Today I actually don’t feel pregnant, but I definitely see that bump poking out.  I forsee in the next couple of weeks my belly button popping, since it’s already trying to do so. D:

This is an accurate visual to the night we had. 6.5 hours in the emergency department to see if our baby was okay and at 11:30 pm I said fuck it. Obviously we weren’t a priority.  Yes, my lip is swollen as shit because my son headbutted me right in the face. And my hand where the IV had sat itches and buuuurns.  I woke up a bit ago to find baby’s butt and back poking up a bit though. <3

Caistin's Birth Plan

Parents: Caitlin and Dustin

Due Date: 6/21/2014

Doctor: Laura Jenson CNM

Hospital: OHSU

Before Labor:

As long as baby and I are healthy, I would like to have no time restrictions on my pregnancy.  I trust that my midwife will discuss things with me if there are any issues with this birth plan, and if NST observation becomes necessary at some point then I am flexible.  If I am past my due date and both of us are healthy, I would rather labor naturally rather than face an induction.

Vaginal Exams:

Please obtain my permission before stripping my membranes during a vaginal exam.  I would like to avoid any vaginal exams unless it becomes medically necessary and/or I feel the urge to push.

Hospital Admittance:

If I am less than 4cm and there is no medical reason, I would like the option of going home.

Induction:

If this becomes medically necessary then I would like to exhaust the following natural techniques first and Pitocin to be used as a last resort:  I would like the option to walk/move around, chiropractic techniques and sexual intercourse.  If medical induction becomes necessary then I choose the option to have my membranes stripped.

If my water breaks before I go into labor I would like to wait at least six hours before the option of being induced.

Environment:

I am fine with students visiting my room or witnessing the birth.  Dustin is to be with me at all times.  I would like to birth in a birthing room with the option of a shower.  I would like the use of a birth ball and squatting bar.  Please, only natural light if possible.  No bright lights, no loud voices.  I intend to use a hospital gown for the duration of my hospital stay and I would like to have our birth photographed (still working out how to accomplish this as I want pictures of the three of us).

Pain Relief:

Please do not offer medication unless I ask for it.  I am prepared to use natural methods such as: breathing techniques, acupressure, shower/water.

No fetal monitoring unless medically necessary, in which case please only be intermittent to allow for mobility.

Second Stage Labor:

As long as both of us are healthy, I do not wish to have time limits on pushing.  I would like to try squatting, hands and knees or whatever feels best for me at the time of pushing.  I do not want an episiotomy.  Please allow the head and shoulders to be birthed spontaneously, if possible.

Delivery:

I would like my partner to deliver our baby, under the guidance of our midwife.  Please let me push instinctively.  Let my partner cut the cord after it has stopped pulsing.  

After Baby's Birth:

I do not wish for baby to be separated from us in the room at any time unless medically necessary.  If this is the case, Dustin is to accompany our child.  All routine procedures are to be done in the room with us. Delay eye drops until after baby breastfeeds on both breasts.  I would like only the orally-administered Vitamin K to be given to our child and all immunizations to be postponed until a later time.  We would like to give our baby the first bath with our own baby products.  If our child is a boy, we do not want him circumcised.  Please do the PKU testing after 24 hours.  Our child is to be exclusively breastfeed, so please do not offer formula at any time.  

We wish to have our baby room-in for the duration of our stay.  Please, no nursery.

If you knew you were going to die in two month's time, what would you do with your remaining time? Would you tell Caitlin?

I’d make the best of it in any way I could while somehow doing something for Jayden, Aiden, and Maleighna/Jasper to always remember/know me by other than simply having been there before.

Whether or not I would tell would highly depend on the circumstances involved. Though if I didn’t, I don’t have a doubt that Caitlin would eventually start suspecting that something was going on.

Cloth diapering mommas!

Come to me!  I would love to cloth with this new baby; I’m so tired of buying diapers every couple of weeks. But I need a lot of information because I know like nothing. It seems complicated with all these different kinds and soakers and yeah…I have no clue.
