I'm scared to even ask how something referred to as the Rice Crispies Fic involves hypnotism. Also, anecdotally, but every single person I ever met, online or off, who had more than a passing interest in hypnotism, was 10000% trying to use it to coerce people sexually. Not saying it's 1:1, but it's definitely a red flag.

The discourse around the Rice Krispies Fic, among a lot of other things in this fandom, is so fucking rotten, and the moment I started reading it I knew it would be that way. It is such a good fic, it's so carefully written and dark and twisted and fun, it's intriguing, it makes my skin crawl, it is everything; but anger at random people on the Internet is the biggest thing I feel after reading this fic, after slogging through the shitty discourse around it because I can't help myself, because I know it's there. "I lowkey thought you were a creep before I saw your author's note--" what the actual fuck?? That is such a rude fucking thing to say to someone in their fic comments, let alone a fic tagged "Dead Dove: Do Not Eat" for Christ's sake. And as for the people who *do* think the author is a creep: please please please free the worms from your brain. Do you genuinely think that the author is gonna go out one day and hypnotize some twink with a bull necklace? Do you think the author is gonna manipulate someone in their class to bark like a dog?? Be so fucking for real rn dawg. You do not need to make this author jump through Wholesome(R) Non-Problematic(TM) hoops to justify you not shitting all over them on Tumblr. What the fuck.

To the author, and to any author wanting to write some dark shit: you aren't a bad person, and you do not need to justify anything to anybody. Your work will justify itself.

Geek moment but the production of this movie is genuinely so fascinating, so troubled, so emblematic of what moviemaking was at the time and what it would become; it was my Roman Empire at age 10 and it's still one of my favorite lil fixations, so much so that it ebbs its way into my silly fanfics

Random but I'm not crazy about when TD fans conflate Emma RR and Courtney because they're girlbosses/aspiring lawyers/type A neurotic bitches, like yes they are all those things but they are sooooo different in their general outlooks on life, how they present themselves, etc.; it's hard to explain super well in a Tumblr post, but generally I think Courtney is more ambitious, litigious, and self-minded than Emma, to the point of sometimes being unrealistic about her goals, while Emma's issues mostly relate to how uncomfortable she is with other people (or, how she obsesses over the people she *is* comfortable with)-- her intense focus on studying and becoming a professional is more a symptom of her interpersonal problems than a cause of them, if that makes sense!

One important similarity between the two, I think, is that they both have perfectionism-related insecurities that they're trying to fix (sometimes in the worst possible ways), but these insecurities have very different causes and effects for either of them; it feels cheapening for both of their characters to hook them up or otherwise push them together just for their superficial traits and, frankly, their relationships w/ men; not saying I'm the Courtnemma police or whatever, this is literally just me ranting lol
