Final Documentation: Viral Interventions
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This project took a lot of foot work. It seems straightforward posting flyers around aimlessly, but that’s not what we did. We meticulously choose spots as we drove around. Spots that either were high traffic or spots that the flyer had to be removed, causing interaction. It was also a challenge keeping the flyers up, as many surfaces didn’t merge well with the tape i used. Another obstacle was getting out the car to post these fast. Some places i stopped at a red light and had to hurry back to my car. That demonstration brought attention to me and the poster.
The social media aspect was fun. Although there was no immediate interactions, I can see that we’re getting impressions. People are seeing our content, and that’s all we need. We need to plant a seed in people’s mind, that hopefully time, and observation of their surroundings, blossoms into a plant of action.

Final Proposal:
We’re going to print posters with our sentence on it and a visual. Then post those posters in public spaces throughout miami, we can conquer and divide this process. Each location gets a picture. Once we have all the posters posted and captured, we’ll combine them into a GIF / video, and post it to various social medias with hashtags hoping to catch attention. We’re going to use the image below. The class pointed out a spelling error, but we decided to keep it. The error suggests lack of education, which is one the the things we want to bring attention to.

Barbara Kruger QCQ
Quote: “I had difficulty in supplying someone else's image of perfection.”
Comment: I choose this quote because it really resonates with me. I completely agree, I find it hard to accomplish someone else’s definition of perfection. In fact, i think it’s impossible to supply someone’s image of perfection. I don’t think perfection is attainable, and chasing someone else’s version of it is even less possible. Instead, we should focus on what we view as perfect, and chase that, knowing you’ll never really achieve true perfection.
Question: I wonder what Barbara’s idea of perfection is, and does she think that she’ll reach it one day. I wonder that about others in class as well, regarding to their art work

1st Final, Viral Interventions
materials: Car, cardboard, paint, paintbrushes, camera
This presentation of our sentence worked well in my opinion. It was very public, as you can see in the video, the roundabout was very busy. The actual act of getting out the car to stand and record, held up traffic bringing attention to our poster. Then the slow and meticulous pace around the roundabout made you draw your attention to the text. Each time around, we tried to get a good capture of the poster with the hope of clarity in the video. Everything was thought out, and without words, but communicated effectively. I would’ve hoped to write more legibly, or in different colors, so that everyone could read it even easier.

Identify
“ The feeling was almost palpable in the crisp spring air on Friday as Nikki Churchwell exited the U.S. Department of Education headquarters. She’d been slotted to clean out her office on the second floor at 9:15 a.m. Then she said one final goodbye to the job she'd loved for almost 10 years. “
This word stuck out to me, and i thought it was perfect for the project because it directly has to do with the class. Support for education, or the lack there of, is something that’s very current and relevant

One leg solar system
materials: sweatpants, bleach, cups
Whenever i paint i usually wear these pants so once i saw this assignment, i knew i was using them. But i also walk to class, so i needed these pants to not be so unfashionable that i wouldn’t wear them. The goal was to have major dots of bleach, with smaller ones surrounding them. That’s why i chose the name solar system, similar to the relationship between the sun and the planets. I used the cup for the big spots, then as i was leaning the bleach back into the cup, i drizzled around the original spot. I also chose one leg because i felt doing both would just lose the plot, and i chose that specific leg because it has no paint. I’m happy with the way it turned out, the texture and stuff doesn’t change. But the color gradient differences makes it look older than it is, and that’s a plus for me. Lastly, the bleach almost seems accidental, and i feel art that happens naturally is always superior. So giving off that impression is more than welcomed.
