Most of my Layton fics are selfish. It's not that I want to write them, but that I want to read them, so I write them so I can later reread them until I get tired. So to have proof that someone else also reads them, thinks about them, enjoys them it's downright unbeliavable!! And to think it made you want to explore the games again... I tear up.

Yes, Al's childhood was not easy, so his first reaction to a child hiding is thinking someone is out for them. Yes, Hershel's history inspires him to try to do better! Yes, they were all Kat's family, and she lost them, that's not easy!! Yesss, Theo, Theo, Theo!!!

I'm really glad you liked him!! When researching personality disorders it became apparent that if I wanted Alfendi's situation to be a little more realistic, it should start much earlier than stated in game. And that's how the idea of Theo was born!

Confession: in all versions of this story except the final one, Theo did not come back, to keep canon, but in the end I grew too attached to him and said, to heck with canon!! My boy comes back!!

I had half an idea floating around about making Theo meet Lucy, this might be the thing that pushes me to finally writing it :D

Rn I can only remember one of the puns in Spanish (iirc, if you keep going back he does more, so idk if this one is The One) and it was exactly that, a cringy play of words with an idiom.

It was something like, perro labrador poco moledor (a farmer dog doesn't mill), while the actual saying is perro ladrador poco morderor (a barking dog doesn't bite, meaning 'if someone gives a lot of threats those threats are probably empty', a generalization of 'all bark no bite').

Random question to those who have played Azran Legacy in different languages:

Since "don't judge a book by its cover" is an English idiom, it probably wouldn't make much sense when translated into other languages. Or at least, not be as punny.

So do Sycamore's jokes get changed/localised depending on the region?

If so, what kind of jokes does he make? Are they cringy puns based on old sayings like in the English version, or something completely different?

I'm curious.
