What were your thoughts when learning Ororo was going to be your daughter in law?

“Good choice.”

((Seriously, though, he thinks very highly of Ororo. She’s a mutant, she’s insanely powerful, and she carries herself with the air of a queen. He respects her. She knows what it’s like to persevere through hardship, but she’s also very refined and knows how to enjoy the finer things in life. She doesn’t give up, and he knows she’s good for Kurt. She won’t give up on Kurt or their marriage, because quitting is not in her. If he were to die, he’d want Kurt to rule what’s left of his island-nation, and he’d be proud to have Ororo as Kurt’s queen. Heck, he’s proud to have her as part of their royal family. Also, she’s very pretty, and he can’t help but see a bit of himself in Kurt’s taste in women. Azazel always preferred the visually different, and Ororo’s white hair and blue eyes definitely set her apart.))

What's something unexpected about Azazel that most wouldn't believe if they'd just met him?

He paints, and he’s actually pretty good! He’s no Rembrandt, but he’s done a lot of self-directed studying (and he totally watches Youtube tutorials on technique and whatnot). As a child, he was expected to grow to be something of a Renaissance man. It was proper for a king to know about and appreciate the arts, and even to be skilled at them, just as he was to be knowledgeable and skilled in mathematics, science, history, language, religion, politics, economics, agriculture, navigation, law, war, martial arts, and weaponry. Azazel really enjoyed drawing and painting, and he even did some sculpting, but painting was always his favorite. When he was removed from Neyaphem, he painted it and decorated his nook of a bedroom with the scenes. Now, his home bears paintings of his ancestors, his father, Noni, and Neyaphem before, recreated as best as he can remember them.

Though his best (and only) friend Janos likes to tease him about being an out-of-touch old man, Azazel actually knows quite a bit about the modern world and its workings. One of his favorite hobbies is reading, and he reads anything and everything. It is unacceptable for a person of nobility to be uneducated, and since he was denied a proper education after the raid on Neyaphem, Azazel took it upon himself to learn as much as he could about as many things as he could. He’s spent a lot of time in libraries around the world, and since the Internet has become so commonplace and so expansive, he’s put in quite a bit of screen time. He’s done everything short of enrolling himself in university, though he has thought about it. His life is too chaotic for that, though, and he figures he can learn just as much, if not more, through his rigorous reading schedule. Politics, economics, and law are all of special interest to him, though he does devote time to reading about the sciences in order to keep up-to-date. Obviously, he’s no expert, but he likes to think he’s well-informed. Reading about the arts is a pleasure, and his favorite books are usually on art history.

There are quite a few things he does to relax (and alcohol is usually involved), but his favorite is probably sitting on the beach with a cold drink in his hand. He also enjoys hunting, running, swimming, kayaking, listening to music, and, believe it or not, painting.
