justice league odyssey may be a middling comic BUT it did reaffirm how funny it would be if jean paul valley just kept adopting dick's exes as his sisters. like he already has babs. let him also have kori. every time dick breaks up with a girl he needs to fear that they are going to adopt the wet catholic man he doesn't particularly have positive feelings about.

I really hate seeing DC continuing to push this “doomed from the start ” angle on Jason Todd. I feel like they’re missing the inherent tragedy of his character in that he was condemned by the court of public opinion & killed for meta reasons beyond his control - not because his character was written as inherently rash & violent.

Like his story arc becomes far more complex and interesting when you frame it as him being maybe a little rough around the edges but generally kind as a child/teen (who lashes out sometimes bc that’s what children & teens do). Who then dies an absolutely horrific death due to the betrayal of someone who should’ve protected him. And then this kid gets resurrected and you can now explore how the circumstances of his death fundamentally changed him as a person, and how that impacted his views on both the world and those who he was close with prior to dying. It opens up a world for him to be angry and confused post-resurrection, to lash out at those who he feels should’ve done more (bc he isn’t omniscient and doesn’t know what happened when he wasn’t there). But it also gives dimension to his character that allows for growth & healing after all of the tragedy. Maybe he relearns the kindness he had as a child, maybe he learns to forgive and forget and rejoins the bats, or maybe the trauma was too much and he stays positioned as some kind of villain/antihero, but at least with this there are some options for where his character might go and have permanent growth.

Instead it feels like we keep getting force fed this narrative that he’s this violent & impulsive kid that gets killed because he’s violent & impulsive & then comes back violent & impulsive (but only when convenient for the story otherwise he’s friendly with bats trust us). It stagnates his character & is why he keeps being written as having the same boring conflict with Bruce & co. over and over and over again.

Can't stop thinking about Azrael today so. Here's a compilation of every panel of Knightfall pt 2 where there's just a little too much detail given to Azbat's butt or he's generally given the "sexy female comicbook character pose" treatment

First one isn't exactly a butt, but (ha) someone made the questionable design choice of putting some guy's head in proximty of his crotch
