What counts

I've been trying to figure out the perfect way to start my Tumblr-account but it's been over a year so now I start off with what's on my mind at the moment.

I'm a primary school teacher and I've been looking for a permanent job for over seven years. First I thought I'd be fine with my English teacher's degree but now I've realized that you need a second language in order to be competent. Fine, then I thought I just need to work really hard in order to show that I can make a real difference in childrens' lives. It didn't matter: someone with a German teacher's degree went before me. And it would be great if you could stand on your hands, breathe fire and speak with multiple tongues.

I have the ability to encourage scared children, to soothe down the angry ones and to pump up the discouraged ones. I also have the ability to think for myself and I love to help others to the extent that I help out colleagues by doing things out of work hours, for free. How much more can a person do? I've been able to reach out to children who have been ready to punish the whole world. I've also been able to encourage the children who have cried for their mothers and those who have thought they have no skills. How much MORE can a single person do?
