toby fox, in his 'the making of' document including, writes about a small claustrophobic autumn town full of welcoming faces but with few who really care personally. about playing with your expectations by slowly breaking down a world and a protagonist deliberately. about making you feel guilty for hurting people even if they arent real. about a protagonist who doesnt want to be controlled. about hiding away in dreamworlds to avoid the real one. about a lack of choice.

and then he writes about a game with two paths but one ending and trying to delay your inevitable mission but ending up there anyways. a game that makes you feel uncomfortable and cheated because no matter what you do you hurt people anyways. about a protagonist with piercing eyes and a duty they cant back out of and how the only thing that can hurt you are the people you dont want to remember. it makes me wonder
