Kezdha's one eye locked onto the rolling ball of thread, but made no move to chase it. He crossed his arms, and kicked it right back to the grey-robed mage's feet, contempt written all over his face. 

"Did you think me a kitten?"

[HISSING NOISES INTENSIFY FURTHER.]

Kezhda climbs into a tree, and hisses at the growling intruder from above.

["OFF MY AREA, YOU UNCOUTH DOG."]

{ GROWLING NOISES INTENSIFY}

{ WOOF WOOF CAN YOU NOT}

[text] Yo so Ranulf told me about you wanting to learn our languages. Just come over to my place. We don't have the thick textbooks and such but we got ourselves? haha but srsly come over and we can help.

[Text] I told Ranulf not to tell you, to be honest. It's not out of arrogance, but I thought that it'd be best for me to have a basic understanding of our language before introductions, but seeing as Ranulf has told you anyway, I'm glad to be under your tutelage.

Kezhda nodded, attempting to pry Volug off the floor. Tactless as he was, his friend hadn't deserved to lie on the floor in pain, much less getting beaten up.

Needless to say, he was sorely disappointed in Ike for this.

"Yes, I brought the bandages. I hadn't thought you'd be serious about it. I'm sure we have a first-aid kit here, somewhere..." he replied, slinging an arm under Volug's shoulders. "Come on, onto the couch with you."

"I'm... sorry this had to happen, Volug."

[Modern AU] Roommates [Volug | Kezhda]

Even after Ike had come and left, Volug still didn’t regret a word he’d said, and he was pretty sure Ike and Ranulf were fully aware of that. Perhaps that was why Volug was not lying on the ground, covered in bruises and cuts from the sound beating Ike had given him.

He still didn’t regret anything he’d said to Ranulf or Ike.

He did, however, deeply regret the fact that Kezhda had found him that way. He hadn’t even gotten to get to his feet and clean himself up before Kezhda returned. Volug knew his roommate would be worried, and he didn’t like that. He didn’t like worrying people, and he didn’t like giving Kezhda more troubles than he already had.

Groaning, Volug rolled over onto his back, his eyes still closed. He didn’t respond to Kezhda for a few moments, during which he could have passed for asleep or unconscious. Finally, he cracked open one eye, looking at his friend. He lay there in silence as he took in Kezhda’s expression, his worry, his dropped nachos. Volug had been hoping Kezhda would give him one or two of those nachos, too.

"You bring bandage?" Volug grunted, closing his eye again.

[Modern AU] Roommates [Volug | Kezhda]

In all honesty, he hadn't believed for a moment that Ike would've used force of any kind against Volug. Against Kezhda, yes, but towards someone who has participated in his campaign, once? The thought never crossed his mind. 

The prematurely graying man thought Ike to be higher than needless violence, and that his roommate would be given a stern talking-to about making one's partner feel absolutely uncomfortable. With an open box of nachos in hand and a bag of bandages, as well as snacks in the other, Kezhda returned to their apartment.

When his one good eye met Volug's broken form on the floor, Kezhda dropped all he held in his hands. Untouched food went wasted and the door was left ajar, because all he could think of was to rush to his friend's aid. 

"Volug?" He asked in a hurried voice. Concern only grew when it became clearer and clearer that the latter had actually been beaten up within the short span of time he was gone.

And there, Kezhda actually thought better of Ike. 

"Volug, wake up. Give me your arm, let's get you on a couch."

When Ike knocks on Volug and Kezhda's door

[Text] Because these walls are thin, and if we shout at each other at this unholy hour, people will come knocking
