One of the things that kills me about Logan’s time at Williams is that so many people were underestimating Alex and calling him a mid tier driver which made Logan look even worse and now that Alex is performing better than Sainz (8th in the standings compared to 13th with 30 points between them) people are realizing how good he is but not reevaluating how good Logan was and I wonder how different the perception would have been if people really understood

Logan was never a bad driver, he was a mid tier driver in a shitty car with a shitty team who probably would have improved so much if he had just had the support he needed

I want to add to this, that the reason people think Alex is a shitty driver is because of his time at redbull- you know- next to verstappen- where everyone looks shit and gets sacked.

WIPS:

TIME LOOP

Lewis leaned against the wall and crossed his arms again. “Alright. What’s going on?”

George ran a hand through his hair. “You’re gonna think I’ve lost it.”

Lewis raised an eyebrow. “Try me.”

George stared at him. His breath came shallow.

“I’ve been stuck in a time loop.”

Lewis blinked. Just once. “Sorry- what?”

“Since Miami. Every day, it resets. No matter what I do. I wake up, and it’s always today. Same race. Same result. Over and over.”

Silence.

Lewis watched him carefully. “Mate… are you okay?”

George laughed - sharp, tired, bitter. “No, I’m not okay.”

Lewis took a step forward. “Is this burnout? Are you not sleeping? You need me to talk to someone for you?”

“I’m serious.”

Lewis went very still.

[…]

Lewis finally moved - stepped closer, placed a steadying hand on George’s shoulder. “Okay. Alright. I believe you.”

And that was it.

That was the thing that cracked him.

George’s breath hitched. His mouth opened, but no words came out. Just a raw, choked sound.

Lewis pulled him in without hesitation. Arms around his shoulders, firm and grounding.

George broke.

Not loud. Not all at once. But in the quiet, exhausted way people do when they’ve held it together too long. His hands curled into Lewis’s back. His whole body shook.

THE QUARRY F1 REWRITE

“Are you listening to a podcast again?” Alex asked, glancing over at Oscar in an effort to steer the attention away from himself.

Oscar shrugged. "Yeah. Some local folklore thing. ‘The Hag of Hamilton’s Quarry.’”

Carlos wrinkled his nose. “The what of what now?”

Oscar looked a little embarrassed. “It’s just an old legend about a woman who died near the quarry and supposedly haunts the area. Campfire stuff.”

Lando laughed. “You should’ve seen the kids when he told them. Absolute horror show. I thought one of them was gonna cry.”

“What’s the holdup?” Lewis called from the porch, arms crossed, clearly ready to be done with the season. “I’ve git places to be!”

Carlos waved one hand in the air in a dismissive circular motion. “Oscar was just busy telling ghost stories.”

“You asked!” Oscar shot back, defensive but not angry.

Sunkissed (still looking for a better title)

Alex took in the sight of him as Liam was toeing off his shoes and shaking off his jacket, he was wearing a slightly too big of a sweater underneath with his standard light blue, wide, jeans. It was pretty stormy outside, with slight rain and a lot of wind, average UK weather. The wind had severely messed up Liam's hair and he was slightly shivering as he put his bag down next to his shoes. 

He's adorable- wait. What the hell is that on his face?!

Liam, who's been trying to grow facial hair the entire season and failing miserably. Only succeeding to look like a 16 yo who has figured out he can grow some stubble and now refuses to shave under the excuse “i forgot to bring my razor”. Alex had to change that and quickly, but first,

“Want some tea? I can heat up tonight's left-overs as well.”

“That'd be great” Liam replied, his face slightly lit up despite still shivering from the cold outside. 

So Alex did just that, putting the left-overs in the microwave and turning on the kettle.

“So… who are you trying to look like?” Alex started, while waiting on everything to have warmed up, with the most disapproving look he could muster. Which quickly failed as Liam put a hand on his hip and started to caress his, attempt at a, moustache, like some sophisticated old english man. 

“You don't like it?” Liam asked, with a fake pout on his face, which quickly turned into a fit of giggles. 

Close (chapter 2)

Liam slightly pulled back to look Alex in the eyes, feeling the need to at least say something.

Oh my god his eyes are still as pretty as I remember them.

“Thank you, for always being here for me.” Liam said, leaving the “i love you” unsaid. He'd tell Alex that when the time was right, and when he had gained the courage to.

Before being able to hear Alex's response, Liam felt a hand on his shoulder slightly dragging him away. Right, the team. 

After a ton of “congrats”, high fives and pats on the back, Liam walked back to the stand where he could put his helmet down and drink something from the water bottle his team gave him. After that chaos he definitely needed it. Sitting down on the NO.1 stand to take a breather, Liam started listening to the top 3, post-race interviews before it was his turn. 

As the second place finisher grabbed the mic and started answering the interviewers questions, Liam only had focus for one thing. Alex. All the noise around him being drowned out and only hearing the voice of the Thai driver, who happened to not have yet gotten a cap from his team, hair messy and sticking up in all different places. When Alex ran a hand through his hair to push it out of his face, Liam felt like he could faint and it definitely wasn't because of over-excursion after the race. Well, maybe a little bit, but right now that is irrelevant. 

Shit, did he get hotter? He couldn't have, right? Well it's Alex he can but… 

I want to trace the balaclava lines on his face and-

Liam’s inner turmoil got interrupted, as one of the organizers shoved a mic in his hand. 

Right, his turn.

Ok so, hear me out on this one:

Maybe it’s not about “not liking Lewis and his side projects” and more about just having a different fav driver???? And therefore simply not being interested in what Lewis does.

For example: I couldn’t give less of a fuck about Charles’s ice cream or Max’s sim racing team cuz??? They’re not my fav???? So I kinda don’t care???? Ergo I’m not cheering for them when they do anything it (project) related.

However, Esteban posting a new video? Lando streaming??? You better believe I will be screaming about it

(Disclaimer: this is based on my assumption that by “don’t like” you mean not going feral over it, because if you meant spreading hate (or tearing it to shreds) you would’ve said “hate” and not just “don’t like”)

I want the F1 community to unpack why they don't like Lewis and his side projects so much. But then go on to be happy once their fave does something PR-related that's only possible because Lewis was able to pave the way for them to do so in the first place!
