people need to stop comparing the bullying that hailey and jake experienced. their situations were not the same at all. hailey grew up in an environment where her passions were supported and was thrust into a place where it was suddenly shameful and embarrassing. jake found his passion and was immediately rejected because of it. hailey’s stage fright developed and she felt restricted with her passions, meanwhile jake stopped singing because he didnt want to get hurt. i hate when people compare their trauma because their situations are so different, and nobody “had it worse” than the other because they were both kids who were bullied to oblivion and it still hurts and effects them to this day.

~~~~~~~~~~ Name: Zinnia Ashford Gender: Female (She/They) Birthplace: Chicago, IL, USA Birthday: September 22nd Age: 16 Years Quirk: Solar Flare ~ Zinnia's body naturally absorbs sunlight, and can convert it to energy. She can release this energy in bursts of heat, light, strength, or kinetic force. Her body can also convert this energy into calories if she hasn't eaten in more than a day. She needs to be properly hydrated in order for sunlight to be converted. Using her quirk can dehydrate her pretty quickly. ~~~~~ BACKSTORY ~~~~~ Zinnia was put into foster care around the age of three or four years old. Her biological parents gave her up willingly. She was transferred from home to home over her adolescence, and exposed to violence and neglect repeatedly. When she was about eight years old, she was diagnosed with ADHD. Growing up, she didn't act like she had much regard for her own life- doing dangerous stunts for the fun of it, and seemed to be almost too calm in the face of danger. She couldn't- and still can't stand to be looked down on or pitied in any way. When she was ten, she was placed with her current foster family. She and her foster family moved to Japan after a dangerous ordeal where Zinnia was becoming increasingly involved in violence, especially regarding gangs. Her foster dad is from Japan, so he felt comfortable moving. He helped Zinnia learn Japanese, as well. She was diagnosed with Early-Onset Conduct Disorder at the age of eleven.

⚠️⚠️⚠️ This is the part that includes the grooming & homicidal ideation warnings! Read with caution ⚠️⚠️⚠️ After the move, Zinnia had a hard time connecting with others. She often stayed cooped up in her room when she could. She was targeted by a predator online. They chatted for a few months, but Zinnia realized what was going on- that he intended to take advantage of her. This was her breaking point. For months, she played along. Eventually, she lured him to an abandoned building, where she attempted to take his life with a knife.

He survived, and she ran away from home, not wanting to be arrested. She was missing for about seven months- in those months she was known as a villain. She performed dangerous stunts, and repeatedly used weaponry like guns illegally.

She was briefly in the League of Villains, right before she got caught due to her impulsivity- the scar on her face came from trying break into a building to hide, but she was injured by glass and had to turn herself in to receive treatment. However, due to her age and circumstances, Principal Nezu reached out- offering to take her in to their new "Villain Rehabilitation Program".

Zinnia's Rehabilitation was off-campus for the first year- being taught by U.A teachers online. In this time, Shota Aizawa was her 'advisor', helping and guiding her through the rehabilitation process. She was required to go to therapy, as well.

She joined class 2-A in the second year, as part of the hero course.

She was diagnosed with C-PTSD about a year after originally joining the Villain Rehabilitation Program. Later, the same year she graduates from U.A, she's diagnosed with BPD.

Zinnia is lesbian. They do identify as female despite liking they/them pronouns. They don't mind he/him, but it's not their preferred.

Their conduct disorder is diagnosed as ASPD when they turn 18.

She loves spicy chips. Goes FERAL over them. Spicy ramen, too.

Her favorite teachers are Eraserhead & Present Mic. She feels like she doesn't have to mask around them as much.

She and Katsuki didn't get along very well when they first met, but after some time, they warmed up to eachother pretty quickly.

She and Mei Hatsume get along quite a lot. Both are professional yappers.

They always wear fingerless gloves. It started just so they could hide scars on their wrists, but it just turned into habit.

She and Izuku never quite clicked, but she admires him. (Not that she'd tell him.)

Gaslight District Theory: Why I think Ken adopted Mel

CW: Mentions of torture, PTSD/Trauma, SPOILERS for The Gaslight District

I theorize that the reason why Ken adopted Mel to begin with was because he believes eternal life to be a curse. If Mel survives to fulfill the prophecy, the world won't end, but eternal life as they know it will.

I personally headcanon Ken has PTSD from his time in the inferno- but whether or not he actually has it doesn't change the fact that being sentenced in a torture prison (when you have ETERNAL LIFE mind you) is extremely traumatic. Not to mention he must've seen so many others sentenced longer than he was, some forever.

Of course- now that he's had Mel for years there's definitely a more personal reason for wanting her to stay alive, he does see her as his daughter, even if his original intention of raising her was for benefit rather than out of immediate love.

i hc nataana is pagan, formerly mormon and believes in reincarnation. that's why her song ends with "MY METAMORPHOSIS WILL BE-"

there's also a clip from the irreverent girl music video at about 3:13 that says "you are not home yet! At death you won't leave home- you'll go home". Although she doesn't practice mormonism anymore, she still finds truth and potentially comfort in that one statement, hence the line "i'll be going home. i'm going alone, under soil and stone"

i also notice she and kairi have water motifs- kairi's attempt being water based plus the lyric "they put me in their tank of water, it was wonderful" while nataana's whole refraction thing is based on water, plus the music video takes place in an aquarium.
